  1. I can chirp the tires from a 15 mph rolling start in my 2.0EB Fusion. That torque comes on really early. The 2.3L should be a beast in a lighter vehicle.
  2. Separate colors are really necessary to further separate them from Ford. This is what I expected from the new Lincoln team. I'd like to see personalization of MLT settings and vehicle settings tied to the driver's key.
  3. It is a tarted up puddle light. But it's unique. Sort of reminds me of the bat signal. I can see folks trying to add these to their Fords with custom images.
  4. I could see this easily selling 5K/month or more, although probably at the expense of a few Titanium Escapes and maybe a lot higher with a hybrid option.
  5. Showed the wife this morning thinking this would be her new vehicle in another year or two. She hates it. Can't stand the grille. OTOH she loves the Caddy SRX. She'll probably go for a new Edge though. As much as I like the SRX styling I just can't stand the thought of owning a Caddy.
  6. Now that is way cool! I do expect a green label hybrid and a red label performance version, probably with a 2.7L EB.
  7. The Government money was unsecured anyway - the stock would have been worthless if GM went under.
  8. Bravo Lincoln! Wider Track, good power (although I was hoping for something above the 2.3LEB), mobile app. No way anybody could legitimately call this a rebadged Escape. Not sure what they meant by vinyl seats though.
  9. Why couldn't they have simply given GM a loan and left the stock alone. GM would have still rebounded. The old stockholders would have some value and GM could be paying back the loan in full over the next few years. This is exactly what Ford did - they just managed to do it on their own without Government assistance. And they didn't screw the stockholders or the taxpayers.
  10. The government doesn't usually take stock ownership in private companies either. The old shareholders should have been given shares in the new company.
  11. Sounds like tens of millions to me..........maybe a billion!
  12. But but but....my buddies keep saying their camaros have more power than my mustang and I don't like it and I want Ford to fix it by building cheap aftermarket motors so I can brag to my buddies.
  13. Bingo. People think that buyers want RWD high performance vehicles because that's what gets the publicity. When in fact they're niche vehicles and a lot of those vehicles are sold because of the badge, the prestige and the service experience rather than performance and Cadillac and Lincoln can't match that right now. The volume is in small to midsized sedans, crossovers and suvs and those don't have to be high performance RWD to be successful. Look at the Lexus ES and RX - those are the poster children for a successful high volume luxury brand.
  14. Absolutely. Free 36 month/36K mile extended warranty - bumper to bumper!
  15. But since you're a loyal customer, I'll make it $50/month!* *with $45K down. No more than 2K miles annually. Shipping and handling not included.
  16. Frankly my dear - I don't give a damn. And neither does Ford. It doesn't sell new Mustangs and if it doesn't sell new Mustangs Ford doesn't care!
  17. In some cases racing provides R&D that goes back into the development of future products. e.g. Ford's experience with Formula 1 racing led to improvements in suspension and handling across the board. The old adage of "win on Sunday sell on Monday" just doesn't hold true any more. Performance parts for Mustangs help sell new Mustangs. Cheap aftermarket crate engines do not. It's that simple.
  18. I'm talking about the 80s and 90s. Ford isn't in business to satisfy your need for bragging rights with your buddies. And that type of stuff just doesn't translate to new car sales. Neither does NASCAR or NHRA.
  19. I HATE it when they advertise leases that way. That's effectively a $286/month lease. They should not be allowed to advertise a lease payment with more than one month's payment down. It's misleading. I mean - I could advertise a Platinum F150 for $99/month - with $40K down.
  20. Chevy guys buy Camaros. Ford guys buy Mustangs. Out of the relatively few buyers who cross shop both, most are not looking for aftermarket power adders.
  21. This doesn't preclude a One Ford global FPV like performance strategy. It will just be done differently.
  22. This. They could have given the old shareholders stock in the new GM stock. They could have simply given GM a regular loan and left the stock as is. It's the same freakin' company it was before making the same vehicles, just slimmed down a little bit. They should have been allowed to keep their shares of GM and benefited from the rebound. They were not and they got screwed.
  23. Looks like sales shifted from the hybrid to the plug-in hybrid.
