  1. My dealer gives their employees the D plan spiff check, making it cheaper than A plan.
  2. It's stupid because we can't afford it. Why does the government have to "encourage" adoption with bribery? If people want the technology they'll buy it. Regular hybrids don't have any rebates and they're selling just fine now.
  3. Actually the dealership gets the spiff check. What they do with it is up to the dealership.
  4. Several people have posted pictures of the SE 2.0L with dual exhaust.
  5. It's possible. Different insurance companies may use different risk factors and it's possible the online quotes missed something. Only way to know for sure is to try and sign up for one of the low rates and see what happens. Just make sure the coverages are actually the same.
  6. I don't know if Canada is the same but in the U.S. the true dealer invoice is a few hundred higher due to the FDAF (advertising). It's not included on any online sites because it varies by model and location.
  7. Really? I had no idea. I thought only our government was that stupid.
  8. If you're not going to use X plan I found the best approach is to call the dealer and ask for the new car sales MANAGER. Not a salesperson. Tell them exactly the vehicle you want (model, options, colors, etc.) and then ask them how much above or below invoice they want for it and how much is the doc fee. Any good sales mgr will know that figure right off the top of their head and will tell you immediately if they're being honest. And if they won't tell you then you don't want to do business with them. When I bought the 93 explorer I did that and the first dealer wouldn't give me a price. The second one said $800 over invoice without batting an eye. I asked if he could do $500 and he said sure on a 2 door or an Eddie Bauer or a 4WD but the 2wd 4 door XLTs were flying out the door at that time. The next dealer said $500 over, no problem. Turns out they were actually getting the vehicle from the dealer who wanted $800. The deal fell through but they found another one at the same price. I'll never forget that salesman's name - Rocky Beretta.
  9. Maybe they only quoted you liability coverage?
  10. Wow - you're correct. No MFT for the 2013 Mustang. Ken must be talking about Sync with Navigation instead of MFT.
  11. Mustang is staying. Supposedly they can run 3 platforms with 2 body types each. I don't think it matters whether it's FWD or RWD that's just how it was organized before with Mazda.
  12. Looks to be around 50% after 3 years or so from what I remember. That's why I'm buying a 2013 in 3 years or more.
  13. No, it's because Canada doesn't have a $7500 tax credit that GM is using to subsidize the lease payments.
  14. Yes. Go to syncmyride.com and it will tell you if the update is applicable to your vehicle.
  15. You can easily add over $30K in options though (or was that the 911?)
  16. motorcraftservice.com -> owner guides
  17. FTFY. He's pissed off they killed Mercury so I doubt he would like anything Lincoln did short of adding a waterfall grille.
  18. That's what he was trying to say but since the 2012 is no longer made and the 2013 is then I would argue that the 2013 is the current MKZ. Either way it's a stupid reference because we're talking about Lincoln's future direction, not what they did 4 years ago.
  19. Nobody here is "fine" with the CURRENT crop of Lincolns. I don't think anyone would argue they need to be better. But that doesn't make the current ones complete failures, either. You say that Lincoln is mimicking what was done with Mercury and that's just ridiculous. The new Lincoln brand revival was just started last year. How could they possibly make all the changes that need to be made including 7 new products in 1 or 2 years? You have to look at what they're doing differently now than what they were doing before. Namely: Hired a dedicated Lincoln design chief and a staff of 150 who work on nothing but Lincoln. When did they do that for Mercury? Required dealers to provide a separate Lincoln experience (and 80% have already agreed) based on 5 star hotel concierge service. Committed to 100% unique sheetmetal and drivetrains including ecoboost options (this is not just taking the v6 away from Fusion). This was certainly never even considered for Mercury since Mercuries even shared interiors with Fords. Committed to a full lineup of 7 vehicles. Committed to unique features (Led lighting, retractable glass roofs, electronic suspension, push button gear selection, etc. etc.) This is NOTHING like Ford has ever done with Lincoln or Mercury in the past and this is why we're optimistic about Lincoln's future and it has nothing to do with whether they have a "BMW killer' or bespoke platforms. So either you don't know what they're doing or you don't believe they'll actually do it to which we would simply say - wait and see and you'll be proven wrong.
  20. Sorry - what I meant was would it matter to someone who was looking to buy a Lincoln vehicle whether it was called Lincoln or Lincoln Motor Company or LMC or whether it was a division or a separate company? I don't believe so and that was my point.
  21. There is a similar one about a redneck in a Georgia store asking for a RC and a moonpie. "You must be from Alabama." "Why" "Because this is a hardware store."
  22. I'm only trying to prevent misinformation. I will refrain from personal interaction and just stick to the facts. If you'd like to point out something I posted that was incorrect I'd be more than happy to correct it.
  23. Map updates have traditionally cost $200. The map update that was sent out with the MFT update was necessitated by a change in map data and format. The old cards didn't work with the new software and vice versa. MFT updates are free but in all likelihood future map updates will also cost $200. Ford doesn't supply the map data - they buy it from Navteq and the updates come from Navteq.
  24. Is Lexus trying to fool their customers into thinking that it's not a Toyota subsidiary or that it doesn't share platforms with them? How is what Lincoln is doing any different than what Toyota is doing with Lexus or Nissan with Infiniti or Honda with Acura? Or is it just the fact that it says "motor company" at the end? Would anybody in their right mind not know that Lincoln was owned by Ford?
