  1. The ergonomics and controls inconsistency between the full sized trucks/SUVs and other vehicles drives me nuts. With F series being the cash (and volume) cow they pretty much get to do whatever they want and the so do the other teams. Simple things like having the audio steering controls on the same side would help. My F150 is on the right while the Nautilus is on the left.
  2. To be fair they only lowered the leftover 2023s. But yeah it does seem counterintuitive.
  3. Because Ford allocates vehicles to each dealer based on their sales history. Let’s say each dealer gets 2 vehicles per week. If the dealer has 10 people in line ahead of you you’ll have to wait 6 weeks to get yours scheduled. If there is only one ahead of you you’ll only wait 1 week. The trim levels are because of parts shortages which have always happened even before Covid. Covid just made it 1000 times worse.
  4. I owned a 90 and 95 Ranger. Maverick is light years better in every dimension except bed length.
  5. And that’s why I said a small ecoboost would probably work better.
  6. It’s always been the cash cow, it just wasn’t reported separately before.
  7. For me it’s bed size since I haul 9’-10’ lumber. For others it’s true 4wd, running larger tires, more ground clearance. Some need the additional payload and towing. Some want more performance. Lots of reasons for a lot of buyers.
  8. Still an Atkinson cycle engine as opposed to an Otto cycle.
  9. Again, in heavier vehicles I would bet a 1.5 or 2.0 ecoboost is more fuel efficient than a 3.5-ish liter Atkinson cycle.
  10. Because they haven’t made a decision yet. There is no easy answer here so the decision isn’t obvious. Even if they want to continue the current Edge they have to negotiate that with dozens of suppliers.
  11. Don’t you think if it was feasible to run a 6 cylinder atkinson cycle engine that someone would have done it already? Im guessing that a 4 cylinder turbo is just as efficient as a 6 cylinder Atkinson and provides more power when needed.
  12. I think stamping dies are done at the very end which would be late this year or early next year. But I’m just guessing.
  13. With a $6500 down payment. That’s effectively $470/ mo.
  14. For me I want the shorter overall length so I can walk behind it in the garage. My F150 is 231” and I only have about 3” of clearance to the garage door. Ranger Supercab 6’ bed is 211” which gives me 2’. A supercrew 6’ bed would be 223” and that wouldn’t be enough room. But I think the biggest reason is that a supercab 6’ has the same wheelbase as the supercrew 5’.
  15. Efficient EV manufacturing requires different assembly processes. That was the whole point of gutting and remodeling OAC.
  16. I don’t see the EV market making an about face any time soon as far as marketability and volume of larger more expensive EVs, so a 6 month delay is just wasting time. Either do the 3 rows as planned and live with it or kill them now. The new ones would almost certainly be made at Cuatitlan though not Hermosillo. I seriously doubt they’ve done much tooling yet for OAC. I guess it’s possible they wait and do the new EVs in OAC but Cuatitlan seems to make more sense especially given the low price point, but that depends on what they decide to do with the other plants. The Chinese edge with the high tech interior and hybrid powertrain would do well and would be far less of a commodity than Escape. It just needs to be shorter and retain the fastback sporty styling.
  17. I expect T3 to be a lot more like the Rivian but still retain Ford’s unique truck features and versatility.
  18. I don’t know - what if they used a smaller Atkinson cycle v6 hybrid that has no power but gets 2 more mpg? 😂
