  1. I'm sure that if Nick could contact us from the beyond, he'd tell us to stop wasting our days bickering over trivial things, go for walks with our family, watch the sunrise, be kind to a stranger, and forgive others. We are not promised tomorrow. It's what we do with today that be the lasting memory we create.
  2. Are the four lives each worth any less than the 5000 lives sacrificed for nothing when we walked out of Iraq before a stable government was established? Their lives were lost to secure a rogue tyrant-led country who murders it's own people with WMDs, so what makes you think is isn't a real threat to us or our allies or any other potential victims of his madness? You decry the lost lives in Iraq. I decry the walking away from the success and victories there in the name of placating liberal who "supported the plan until they opposed the plan."
  3. I guess there's no need to discuss prioritization. Just jump right in to the same old technique of threatening to eliminate EMT, Fire and Police services if taxes aren't raised immediately........then give everybody 10% pay raises or a new administrative building, and so fourth.
  4. How about we get taxed no more than the congressmen and corporations? And if the federal budget can't sustain it's level of spending.......CUT THE FRICKIN" BUDGET AND STOP SPENDING MONEY OUR GRANDCHILDREN WILL HAVE TO TOIL TO PAY!!!!!!!!
  5. Could "Cleveland Browns" be considered racist since the team is close to half African-Americans? Red is out. Yellow would surely be out. Blacks....self explanatory. Greens could offend Martians and Irishmen. Seems like some people need to put on their "Big Girl Panties". Geesh! You are having a National Football League team named after you in recognition of your strength, stamina, prowess, endurance, and power. Kinda sounds like a complement.
  6. Clarification accepted. They are all intriguing concepts and I enjoy reading about the early designs. I especially like the feathered, flapping wing designs. Oh, those who thought they knew so much!
  7. Don't question the YB-49 was an American design, but my recollection, not depending on Wikipedia, is something to the effect that the flying wing concept itself was German. I could be wrong. On my phone such is too difficult to do right now.
  8. Edstock, Like your signature photo. That's one weird bird. German design. One b*tch to control. Too far ahead of it's time.
  9. Rumblings of falling attendance were recently discussed with Dale Jarrett in regards to the Indy race. Supposedly, they have been falling since 2008. Is it coincidental that Toyota joined the Sprint Cup Series in 2007. 2008 may have been the last of the bump they brought to the sport from Toyota owners. Maybe, NASCAR fans are more nationally loyal than NASCAR predicted. I know I quit them in 2007, for that very reason. I'm done with them.
  10. There is much more blatant racism subsidized and supported by the federal government. But, I wasn't asking for sympathy. And I do remember the past. I remember the "Whites Only" water fountain in Rich's Downtown in Atlanta, when I was knee high to a grasshopper. I strongly rebuke those attitudes. As I grew up, I remember how I consciously decided it was wrong and I made it one of my goals as an adult to resist my childhood experiences and family influences. Just as I decided that I would be a patriotic American, Boy Scout, gentle-man, faithful husband, devoted father, and trusted employee, I committed my heart and soul to judging others, not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their heart. To paraphrase MLK. Too bad, the very ones he was speaking out to defend have often become the very ones most filled with the opposite racism and content of their heart. As if being wronged justified being wrong.
  11. Does that mean I am racist for enjoying my potatoes? Just had some for dinner, and they are my favorite. Nothing intended as a slur. Just a description that identifies a most distinguishing characteristic that variety of potato from all others. And just how much sympathy would I get if I decided I was offended by being called a "pale-face", white-man, honky, Caucasian, European, or plain vanilla? No one can make anyone do anything. I cannot blink your eyes. I cannot close your fingers. I cannot extend your leg. You are responsible for your own actions and reactions. Including your emotions and feelings. "Sticks and Stones......" I have been cursed and name-called at many different times during my life. I realized that being called a name only empowers the offender if I let it influence me.
  12. I can't pass this up. What was Obama's GPA? We've seen W's, but Obama's grades have been kept a tighter secret than the blueprints for the next Presidential helicopter. And just who was Obama's connection to Harvard?
  13. Not quite retired, but my Harley Ultra is just the kind of riding I enjoy with the "Queen". It's not about the image, but it is also a statement to riding. I refuse to ride a Goldwing. I don't need everything, including a hot tub, when I ride cross country. Hair in the wind, bugs in the teeth, built-in in vibrator. What else does anyone need?
  14. Let's hope it's the last days of the days like we've had for the past 20-30 years. Or for that matter, ever since lying, conniving, two-faced, self-serving, manipulating, power hungry, elitist have become the favorites of the voting majority. If only the I.R.S. was so willing to believe what I say as "we" seem to be of those who administer the I.R. S.
  15. Elect politicians like you would trusted friends that you would leave your kids, house keys and emergency contact info with. Because that is what the politicians end up controlling. And fire them after one term for backtracking, lying, changing their position, double-talk or do anything against what they campaigned on. That's what got them elected. Make them live by it.
  16. Someone missed the distinction. The cited .pdf referred to "Naturalization" or determining US citizenship. Immigration is another animal.
  17. How often have you seen me defending the government and how it operates, in the real world, not on paper?
  18. I will accept what I paid into based on the obligations placed on my income deductions. What about those who draw without ever contributing. Will you accept less benefits so that they can have as good as you deserved for your toils and sacrifices?
  19. Only if it were SO simple. How much money has gone to other programs, like La Raza, that could have been better used to maintain those bridges? If the government had a budget as small as a typical family, such wastes are easy to spot. Government has, by design, become a behemoth, far too large, complicated, intertwined and obfuscated, to easily follow the tragic wastes and misappropriations and misdirections.
  20. I am at a loss for words that can express my shock and sadness. I will always consider Nick a good friend with whom I debated and discussed many things. But, he was always fair. And he will be missed by thousands here, to say nothing of his personal friends and family. R.I.P, Nick.
