  1. It would be pretty sweet if they gave you the option to put the EcoBoost 3.5 in the MKX. That would help differentiate the MKX and Edge Sport
  2. Is there any way to "give" your X-Plan PIN number to someone else? I ask this because I'm a shareholder in Ford, but my girlfriend wants to buy a 2010 Fusion.
  3. Also, make sure you are aware of the current rebates before going to pick up your car. I ordered a 2008 Escape and when I ordered it, there were no rebates, but by they time it arrived there was a $500 rebate. They told me that there were no rebates available on the Escape when I purchased it. I became furious and told them to check the Ford website if they didn't believe me. They kept trying to tell me that they just printed off the official rebate forms from Ford and there wasn't any rebates available. I told them their deal was off and proceded to walk away. They then went to reprint their "Official" rebate forms from Ford and found the 500 rebate. Idiots.....
  4. I own a 2008 Escape with this feature and at first, I didn't like it at all. It felt more like you were driving a big cloud around. It felt like there was no road resistance and that no matter what you did, it all felt nice and smooth. Maybe it was because I went from driving a Mustang into that, but I hated the feel of the stearing. However, after 1,400 miles, it seems to be losing some of it's "floatiness" and is a lot more precise. You can now feel strain whenever you crank the wheel. I was scared that whenever winter time came rolling around that you wouldn't know if you were losing traction or whether you were fine and the loose stearing was the culprit.
  5. Well, whatever the total August sales are going to be, I helped it out by adding one sale! I bought a 08 Escape at the beginning of the month. I ordered it back in the last week of June and recieved it the first week of August. I felt it came quickly due to them having 2 week plant shutdown for the July 4th holiday. I know they are still churning out quite a bit of Escapes due to I was in KC last weekend and saw 3 transport trucks loaded with Escapes and F150s. And Yes! These SUVs are turning people's heads! During the first week of ownership, I've had two seperate incidents that people have came up and asked me what it was and how I liked it. I even prosuaded a guy to go down to the dealership to check one out! The good part about that guy is he was your typical chevy-guy. He had the balls to roll up to me, get out of his Silverado, and ask me about a FORD! **GASP**
  6. Just checking to see if it's been shipped yet. Hopefully this will be the last time I bug you! :-)
  7. Update please! :-) Hopefully you have it's birthdate!
  8. Can you track my 2008 Escape and (maybe) a window sticker? Vin # 1FMCU04138KB24683 Thanks Viper! You are the man!
  9. [sarcasm His dealer who also told him he could take a GT500 today for only 30,000 over sticker! You didn't hear that they were going to be extremely rare with only a one year cycle? [/sarcasm]
  10. I can back you up as well. I own both a 1994 Mustang and a 2005 Mustang. I can barely fit in the back of the 94 (When sitting back there I have to bend my head to the side or my head wouldnt fit back there) *I'm 6'1 220lbs* However, whenever I'm in the back 2005 I can sit easily and in a comfortable way. I know numbers don't lie and according to the #'s the Foxes are bigger but sitting back there is a whole nother ball game. The 05 wins hands down.
  11. [sarcasm So the Escape sales can't possibly be up because they are selling both 07 + 08 models right?! I've seen five 08 Escapes driving around my small town of 20,000 people, so they can't be that popular right? Also, the 07 models have 3,000 of rebates sitting on their hoods so once again, that couldn't affect people's decisions to buy could it? /sarcasm]
  12. Only down 10%! http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=25738
  13. You couldn't get the Edge or MKX and they were advertising it!
  14. According to a salesman at my local dealership 08 Escapes are not released yet! Our convo was something like this: **Salesman approaches** "Can I help you find anything?" **"ME"* "Yeah where are you 08 Escapes located at?" **Moron** "Uhh 08!? Those havent came out yet!" **Me** "Uh yeah, pretty sure they are. According to your website you have EIGHT!" **Moron** "Uhh must have been a dealer trade. We can get one for ya!" **Me** "No it's allright I'll stop by later" I know they had them I just couldn't find them! My father works there and he told me he saw them come in the other day so that's why I made the trip up there. At this dealership they have a HUGE lot of vehicles up front and have a large reserve parking lot that's under security in the rear. This is where they recieve the cars and that's where they sit until they are detailed. I forgot to look back there so I guess in the end, it's my fault haha.
  15. You can be also guaranteed that aftermarket companies will take this technology from ford and Microsoft and RUN with it! By the time you start finding cars with this option, you'll have companies offering extra "goodies" for your SYNC. I can just see it now, having the option to go to a certain website, download some software for a price, upload it to your mobile flash drive, stick the flash drive into your USB port in your car, and WHAMMY! you'll be on ur way of having extra incentives for buying this SYNC system. I imagine this would be an incredible business opportunity for a young entrepreneur that has a knack for computer technology and software development. OH and off topic from my post but, does anyone know why this isn't offered in the new 08 Escapes? Is it because they had an early production run and will have this option later in the year whenever other cars have this system come online?
  16. Can't you combine incentives with A/D/X/Z Plans as well? For example if you look at that D plan price of 27k and wait a few months for Ford to slap a incentive such as $1,000 on the hood would u get it for 26k? Also, how'd you get that break down pricing of different plans? Last question haha. Do you know if that flucuates on a daily basis? Whenever I bought my mustang, the dealership had to charge me a little extra (around 100 bucks) due to a change in D-Plan pricing. (it was an oral estimate prior)
  17. How much was the invoice price?
  18. I was just hoping someone here could help me out! Well, I'm in the market to buy a new 08 Escape and I have access to D-Plan pricing. I know I could probably just go to the dealership and ask however I don't want them to pressure me into buying or anything. So, I was hoping either you could either give me the basics, such as the amount of discount (% off invoice) or a "un-official" price estimate. It would be nice knowing exactly what I could expect to pay for the particular car I want before I go to the dealership. Thanks guys!
  19. Someone needs to change the article... It's MILLION not BBBBBBBBBILLION! My eyes almost fell out when I saw they almost invested in a TRILLION dollars worth of 'stuff'.
  20. 2008 FORD FIVE HUNDRED UPGRADED WITH POWERFUL V-6 ENGINE AND NEW EXTERIOR DESIGN (Dearborn, Michigan) BlueOvalNews.com – The Ford Five Hundred sedan packs nearly 30 percent more power and boasts a new look inside and out for the 2008 model year. On sale by summer 2007, the Five Hundred features a new front end resembling the popular Ford Fusion, more horsepower and torque thanks to a new 3.5-liter V-6 engine, a new six-speed transmission and all-wheel-drive system and safety upgrades that include Ford’s available AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control system. Structural upgrades to further improve crash protection include reinforcements in the footwell area and new interior door panels. “Customers love the Five Hundred’s ride and package, and its safety reputation is excellent,” says Cisco Codina, Ford’s group vice president of North America Marketing, Sales and Service. “For this year, we’ve dialed up the appeal with a new, more expressive look, a more powerful engine and more than 500 changes to make this great car even better. The Five Hundred’s 3.5-liter Duratec V-6 now delivers an estimated 260 horsepower and 245 pound-feet of torque. It also benefits from the same smooth shifting, six-speed automatic transmission and the same available all-wheel-drive system as the new Ford Edge. Importantly, even with the upgraded powertrain, real-world fuel economy for the front-wheel-drive model is expected to be similar to the current model – thanks to advancements in powertrain technology. New look inside and out The Five Hundred’s new look aligns it with the Ford Fusion. New from the A-pillars forward, the Five Hundred now features Ford’s signature three-bar chrome grille. A sculpted hood adds a touch of crisp detail, and a new front fascia is chamfered at the outer edges, adding structure to the design. All-new side mirrors are smaller yet provide better visibility and reduce wind noise. Chrome side vents, door handles and mirror caps give the Five Hundred Limited models a more expensive appearance. New taillamps carry the horizontal theme to the rear, while a new rear fascia houses chrome-tipped dual exhausts. Ultra-quiet interior and plush ride For 2008, the Five Hundred’s sound package has been completely revised, helping make it as quiet as many luxury cars. The new sound package includes such technologies as expandable foam pellets in the A-pillars to reduce wind noise and the use of an advanced sound-deadening material called Sonosorb™ in the doors, headliner and pillars. Sonosorb increases sound-deadening efficiency by 20 percent while retaining the same thickness as the material it replaces. Engineers also reduced road noise by stiffening the area where the rear package shelf meets the floor pan. Even the climate control system was improved by making the system 50 percent quieter than before. The Five Hundred’s quiet, confident ride starts with an already solid foundation. Upgrades include revised shock towers that help increase front suspension travel by 10 percent, new dampers and springs in both front and rear, and a revised, retuned rear suspension. One of the most significant changes is how the engine is mounted in the vehicle. Previously, the engine was mounted to the front subframe. On the new model, the engine and transmission are bolted to the body with hydraulic mounts to reduce vibration. By moving the roughly 600-pound powerpack off the subframe, engineers were able to better tune the suspension and, ultimately, create an even better ride. Maximum convenience and space The Five Hundred features the most spacious interior of any large sedan, with best-in-class legroom front and rear and 60/40-split fold-flat second-row seats. With the fold-flat front-passenger seat, items up to nine-feet long can fit inside. Five Hundred also offers a number of must-have technologies. In addition to a standard auxiliary audio input jack, available convenience features include a voice-activated navigation system, a DVD entertainment system and factory-installed SIRIUS® satellite radio. Ford Sync™ is also available on the new Five Hundred. Sync is a voice-activated hands-free in-car communications and entertainment system which fully-integrates mobile phones and digital media players. The Sync in-car communications system was developed in collaboration with Microsoft and will be offered exclusively on 12 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury products in North America beginning this year. Building on safety leadership The 2007 Five Hundred is already the segment leader in safety, earning five stars in all four categories for the U.S. government’s crash tests. Five Hundred was also the first Gold Award winner from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and is the class leader in rear crash performance. For 2008, Five Hundred offers the added safety and control of Ford’s AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control system. AdvanceTrac can predict the vehicle’s intentions using a sensor to detect and measure oversteer and yaw by monitoring the vehicle’s speed, throttle position and steering wheel angle. When the system senses wheel slip, engine torque is reduced and braking is applied where needed to help keep the car tracking safely on its intended path. Five Hundred comes standard with dual-stage driver and passenger front air bags, seat-deployed side air bags for driver and front passenger and Safety Canopy™ side curtain rollover air bags for both rows.
