  1. A few lucky families offered by Ford to test drive TaurusX over the holidays! http://www.ohmystinkinheck.com/some-opport...ome-are-maroon/ http://kerflop.com/2008/01/02/road-trip-road-trip/
  2. I am looking forward to buy a Lincoln Flex when it come on the market!
  3. Please read www.Myfordfreestyle.com forum and ask www.Taurusclub.com. Some people experienced your same problem!
  4. American Idol is coming up on January 15, 2008. Let see and hope will Ford give an ad campaign for the new Taurus, TaurusX and Sable, as well as the Focus! Fingers crossed!
  5. Down 9% from last year, but up from November 2007. Ford’s 2007 sales totaled 2.57 million, down 12 percent compared with 2006; more than two-thirds of the decline reflected discontinued models. http://media.ford.com/article_display.cfm?article_id=27379
  6. Cargo shade cover behind 2nd row seats ( fold down 3rd row seats and install cargo shade cover the cargo area behind 2nd row). 1. Honda Pilot has it as an accessory. See web site. 2.Buick Enlcave and Arcadia have them as an accessory. Pre-installed slots were there right behind 2nd row walls for the shade. I looked at photos and specifications of each crossovers on the market and check for cargo anchor slots a few inches behind 2nd row seats. To confirm it, I just made a special visit to Buick and GMC dealer. The sales person did not know, he said the optional shade only cover behind the 3rd row. "Wrong"! There was a small accessories poster on the Enclave, clearly shown a shade covered behind 2nd row all the way to the lifegate. Just liked the time when I bought my Freestyle, many sale persons and representatives at the dealer did not know their vehicles specifications. They did not know the DVD screens size and units difference between the Freestyle and TaurusX, they called my vehicle "Freestar" on the printed loan documents, etc. One does rely on the consumer to study the specifications to figure what features are in each vehicles. 3.Enclave and Arcadia have them, I assume the Outlook has it as accessory too. 4.2008 Toyota Highlander and the older models have them. Pre-molded slots found behind 2nd row on the walls. I e-mailed Toyota and asked about this cargo shade feature. I have not receive a reply yet. Probably after Thanksgiving! [Nov 29, 07 Reply e-mail from Toyota: The Tonneau Cover does cover the whole 3rd row behind the 2nd row.] 5. Thanks suv_guy_19, Chrysler Pacifica has it. 6. Pacifica's sister Mercedes "R class" has it. Anchor slots behind 2nd row walls. 7. Subrau Tribeca has it. See web site. Hyundai Veracruz does not seems to have the cargo shade. Not mentioned on the web site. Sorry Ford! The TaurusX is one of the only few (2 !?) in the 3 rows crossover market which do not have the optional cargo cover behind 2nd row. I like the cover and I wished my Freestyle LTD got it! By the way, back in July I got my brand new 2007 Freestyle LTD with all options for $10,000 off and 0% financing. Love it so far, with 0 problem.
  7. There is no shade behind the 2nd or 3rd row of Taurus X. Actually, I believed and seen amost every other current crossovers with 3 rows of seats got the shade cover behind the 2nd row or as option. Ford fell behind others on this (for cost cutting?). My Freestyle does not have it, and I did wish for it. It is not available as a ford accessory and no pre-molded anchor points in either vehicle for it.
  8. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/07/13/in-the-...aurus-x-limited Lot of photos!
  9. Official TaurusX fuel economy out! Too low! FUEL ECONOMY (city/hwy) AWD 15/22 FWD 16/24 http://media.ford.com/products/presskit_di...&make_id=92 I can't believe it. Lower than Outlook and Enclave even smaller in size!
  10. http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2007/06/21/052621.html The last shot of this video was a 08 Taurus X. They were, I think , at the airport? At the airport parking lot and the lift gate was in the open position.
  11. "the soft-touch materials on the Camry vs. more hard plastics and more old fashioned looking lighting on the Milan" I often think of the soft-touch surface and hard plastics issue. Ever since 1986 to 2005 Taurus, they always had soft surfaces. My 98 Sable got the soft touch surfaces, one of the things I am so proud of. The Camry and Altma may be some other Japanese cars use hard plastic in the same period of time. And some of their prices could be thousands more. Now the Fusion and Milan use hard plastic with deco grain. I agree it is a step back. Well this is a way to save money and keep the MSRP in the mid pack of all sedans in its class. Great!
  12. Sorry! I want to know more. I live in the East Coast. I just want to use mapquest or other internet resources to examine this issue. (for my personal enjoyment) Thank you! I had already use mapquest to pin-point the places you went. How long in time did you drive the Camry, and from where to where? How long in time did you drive the Milan, and from where to where? Any rush hour stop and go traffic? Any constant cruising highway driving? I always feel that a little grade different make a great different, even though the land appear flat, the car may be travelling slightly up or down grade. Stop and go traffic or smooth driving will make a different too, especially each engine had different power. P.S. Sorry again! But how can valleys be "flat"? LA's geography always interest me.
  13. I have a thought. Retro-man, May I ask which city did you drove from to LA? And anyone live near LA can tell me which way got a steeper slope? Driving on a freeway approaching LA is steeper or leaving LA is steeper? I don't know. I had been to LA only 2 times some 12 years ago. I drove from San Fran to LA I had to climb through tall mountain range before reaching LA. It was a great experience. Leaving LA had to drove through the mountain again. I just wonder is the approaching freeway less steep compare to leaving LA freeway might be steeper. Adding the Milan's smaller V6 engine, that gave a perception of a disappointing engine. "sounded like a 4cyl"
  14. Is it just me or are you feeling the same? There are way too many Toyota commercials on TV and Radio. Toyota is really desperate wanting to be No. 1. I listen to the talk radio station during work. But there are too many Toyota commercials. Almost every half an hour you will hear, a mom voice saying "how secure your child will be approaching a minivan", or a intelligent male voice saying "other auto dealers tell people to HURRY to buy, but which car suppose to be the smart choice". I don't need to hear a Sienna 24 times a day, etc... Meanwhile, few Ford could be heard on the radio too, with ads saying "does the tires on your Ford, Lincoln, Mercury making noise. Is it trying to tell you something? Visit your service department...." Is Ford nuts? :slap: Can someone tell Toyota to stop their commercials? I am developing mental problem listening to the same things over an over all day long, seriously! As soon as I hear their music and voice started, I either shut the volume for a minute trying to skip that commercial, or change station and turn back in a minute. That "DING" "Smart way to be moving forward" at the end, drive me nut! Same problem on TV too. It is so difficult to be a Ford fan. How much trouble Ford is in the market, compare to the rise of Toyota. How bad some of the Ford commercials were; plus their lack of ads for some of its vehicles. I have to deal with them. I am going bananas! I need to see the doctor!!
  15. Just heard from the news, the Taurus name may be rename on the Five Hundred. If that is true, it will be something we excite about! Thank God! They realized the naming of all cars with F was a mistakes. TAURUS is back!!! :hyper: LINK http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...COL14/702040613

  17. No, you are not alone. I am very excited by the 1996 Taurus too. Ten years to today, the body and interior shapes still looks modern and up-to-date!
  18. The Repair Manual will not help you to find and re-set the entry code. I looked every where of my 98 Sable. Not code tape found. The best way is ask the Ford dealers for help!
  19. I own a 98 Mercury Sable with code entry, bought from new. I read the owner's manual. It mentioned the code is taped on the computer module. But I can't find the tape yet! If I find it later, I will tell you! I heard about the interior lights stay-on after doors closed. I was afraid it would happen to my Sable. Finally, it happened 3 months ago. Interior lights stayed on after all doors closed. So, I thought of what could cause it. I found out the door latch may have not latch tightly. I tried to add some lubricant to all four latches. Well, the problem cleared, no problem anymore with lights stay on. I guessed the problem was caused by dirt on the door latches or oxidation. Give it a try!
