  2. The heading under pic says -"Alan Mulally, Ford's chief, with clay models of various Ford cars, including a new Focus, far left, its “world car” that will be unveiled on Monday"
  3. Hey Trim , *Dec 21/12 will cure everything. No COLA when the world ends. I wonder if we would get short work week if the ended on Friday at 7:00 AM ? SARCASM INTENDED * if you believe in the Mayan calender , or the movie
  4. That just made me smile, I had the exact same thoughts regarding Edsel and Trimdingman. Edsel is just a blowhard looking to stir the pot. Nothing more , nothing less. He takes pleasure in ruffling peoples feathers. I would suggest if he bothers everyone so much , you put him on ignore and no one quote his useless info. I actually get a chuckle most times reading his halfwit posts and and knuckle dragging threats. Usually the smallest dog yaps the most. On a different note, OAC sparky, what are the #'s like for electricians there and what is the age demographic? Think there will be any openings when buyouts come???
  5. Did you hear this from someone on the microphone speaking at Copps?
  6. I assume this is not your favorite book . Thx for the laugh.
  7. SWEET, I guess I may just change my no vote now that I know they are not going to mess with my breaks
  8. Signing yes to this means our local will no longer exist, that is about as deep a shit as you can get in
  9. Well Ed, way to man up and apologize for your rage. For that I give you props *EDIT*(this has now been recanted due to the next post) But my questions now are... How does losing 1600 more good paying jobs (both for us and the government) help fix our economy? How does voting yes fix the economy any more than voting no? How does voting yes to losing ones job help them any more than voting no and riding out the current contract?? Can you be 100% certain that by voting yes they will not be back for more when the next crisis hits? Why must we always have a non informational, information meeting 1 hour before we are asked to vote our livelyhoods away? How does turning St Thomas into a ghost town and raising Southwold County property taxes by an unimaginable amount benefit anyone? So when you come on here demanding us to see your point of view, all we ask is see ours too. I say we ask for more time to make a true informed decision on the actual contract and all its ratifications and concessions, not a slideshow presentation of the candy coated parts. Then once we have had a chance to digest ALL THE FACTS ( not just the ones they will feed us) we can truly vote as informed individuals and not go off half cocked. No pun intended
  10. AHHH !!!!!! so when you say threaten my livelihood, you actually mean our retiree's livelihood, well why did you not just say that. SARCASM INTENDED. Answer me this, how does losing 1600 more CAW jobs, contibute to the upkeep of the pension fund for our retirees, how does this offer them more protection? All it will do is drive up legacy costs because now there are even less of us to cover those expenses, and our buyouts will be tacked on to the legacy cost total the next time they come back for perfect storm part 3. Feel free to pick apart my grammar or punctuation.
  11. What's to say they don't tell you it is a ratification vote til you go to the meeting. This would definitely help the yes vote, as all the yes puppets would already be at the meeting. I think everyone that can go, should be there in case they try to slip this through. If you are voting NO then make sure you GO, don't let them (international) pull a fast one on us.
  12. Before I start .I do not have a large family, do not need much of the bennies and am 17 years from my 30. With that said, I don't want to give up anything else, but we all know it is almost inevitable. So instead of coughing up more benefits holidays, etc, etc (which come directly out of only our pocket), why can't we take a actual wage reduction and save cuts to the benefits and other things? At least with a wage reduction, we ALL take a hit, gov't on lower tax intake from us, CAW with lower union dues, and us with less income, everyone across the board (except FORD of coarse ) sacrifices. As an example, at my tax base a 5$ per hr cut is actually more like 2.75$ approx. because gov't coughs up the other 2.25$ approx in lost tax intake. The union would cough up 11.67$ approx. per month, and we all share the belt tightening. I will now repeat, I personally do not want to give anything else up. I hope that when I retire , the pension I had built my retirement on would not slowly be chiselled away like everything else we we have invested in.So let us leave the pensioners where they are. I am pretty sure the majority of the pensioners would vote no on any of this BS if they were still working. Hell, they were the ones who got us all the stuff we are now giving away.
  13. Your full of shit, would you sacrifice your job? I call BS on EDSEL . With Edsel as your tag name that tells me u will soon be a retiree which means you want to protect YOUR future pension and benefits. As for STAP , why would we vote yes to anything without solid commitment. Our days are numbered as it stands now, and you want us to give up more to protect pensioners. If we do not take a stand now , when do we? Do we only take a stand when the pensioners lifestyle is affected? I do not want to see the pensioners lose anything, but I also do not want to see our union dues paying, working families lose anymore than was given at last "perfect storm" contract renegotiations. How is taking a stand against a company greed screwing the pensioners? So we give in now, lose more jobs, lose more money, lose more benefits, then what is next? I tell u what is next they come after pensioners, is that when we take a stand? I am glad and appreciative that the retired members fought hard for what we have and I can't understand how anyone can say that now we need to stop the fight . Grow a set of balls Edsel I will be voting no because I would some day like to be one of those ford pensioners, not another closed plant statistic. As it stands now I will not be afforded that chance if people like you get your way and give in to everything without so much as a wimper.
  14. So exactly how many years seniority does one need, to be able to complain and state their opinions? You should take your own advice from the OAC thread and as you say to trimdingman "speak when your spoken too you." As for Ford wanting the same deal as the others employee wise, without offering up the same deal business and executive wise, my vote is no. Always has been always will be.
  15. How would having an astronomical military budget prevent that?? Terrorism and military invasion are 2 different things.
  16. The property ford sold is between talbotville and st thomas across from the jehovah witness chruch , it is 750 or so acres. It is not the property that ford STAP is sitting on. As for closing, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. If they do close I hope national negotiates a good severance package, but lately negotiating seems to be a lost art.
  17. Hope this is false, but sure sounds like business as usual.
  18. "Vote for change now, before that is all you are working for later."
  19. Here is a thought, why don't they take the money they were going to loan GM if they liked their revised business plan, and fund the pensions with that if GM goes bankrupt?
