  1. That article was a waste of ink. Chrysler loses millions of dollars and Ford makes billions, and the conclusion is Ford is hitting a rough patch? This guy needs to learn basic economics.
  2. So, if I read that right, we own the Blue Oval again, with no liens against it? It did say Ford paid off the revolving credit line.
  3. I've seen a ton of them, sitting on dealer lots. Not going anywhere fast!
  4. Alan is THE MAN! Worth every penny. Hell, I'll send him some money. He is, without doubt, a CEO of unmatched ability.
  5. I got the memo. The business world makes decisions based on facts. If you make your decisions based on your wrong opinions, you are left with a wrong decision. Thanks for playing.
  6. They are welcome to their opinion. It is just wrong in this case. When Ford planned on selling 25k units per year, and they pass that mark, you have proof that Ford is at capacity and does not need this order. In addition, anyone in business knows that fleet sales to government entities and/or municipalities are low on margin. These are simple facts. Facts are not open for opinion. Anyone in business knows this. Anyone not in business knows this. When I go in to pay CASH for one, two or three cars at one time, I know darn well that I'm going to get a better deal and so does the poor salesman who is going to see his commission shrink on that particular sale. Now, take that mind set to 13 thousand units. Class dismissed. Well, the Patton quote is needed now, more than ever. This country is in a precarious position because no one has the guts to say what is completely obvious to anyone who cares to see what lies in front of them. All this politically correct crap, has made us a weaker nation. We need a little truth now and again. Like Patton said, "I give it to them loud and dirty. That way they'll remember it!" I agree we should all be cordial. You lead by example, exemplified by your suggestion that I have a nice "whatever."
  7. Ford sells every Transit Connect it can bring over as it is. "Missing out" on a deal to supply 13k units at such a low profit margin is a good pass in my eyes. Don't they only have the ability to bring over 25k to 30k a year anyway? They are selling at that clip as it is. The author of this post needs to take a business course, a one billion dollar contract is not worth one billion dollars.Iit's only worth however much you get to keep of that one billion.
  8. Thanks, I appreciate the compliment. The reason I brought it up was the fact that the taillight lenses look to be aligned correctly, thought the trunk might just be an illusion.
  9. I don't know about that. As a professional photographer, it is my opinion that the lighting, coupled with reflection around the right gap suggest a wider spacing on that side of the vehicle. Get the car under some controlled lighting and let us have another look. If that is indeed a true representation of the gap, it is not likely to be noticed by the average Joe. Heck, I had to magnify the image to measure the supposed gap. If you want to see some of my photography, go to americanlandscapeprints.com
  10. You are correct, but they haven't done the job Alan has done either. They failed where Alan achieved.
  11. I listened to the whole webcast today, debt is at 16.1 billion. As for the UAW, nothing should change until Ford is at investment grade. In my opinion, the union should get increased profit sharing, but no additional givebacks until Ford has retired the corporate mortgage. No need to give the UAW members anything more since they refused to sign the same deals with Ford that they made with GM and Chrysler. Not a union hater, just stating what would be obvious to anyone looking in from the outside. Heck, the union should let management retire the debt, and then Ford could have a ton of money for profit sharing with the union. The higher interest rates that Ford pays due to it's ratings cost the company tens of millions of dollars annually. This could go stright to the bottom line, which, under a profit sharing deal, would be good for management, the UAW workers, and the shareholders. Everybody wins! By the way, I toured the Rouge last week. I wished I could come down off the walkway and shake those workers hands. It was obvious that they were VERY commited to a job well done. Kudos ladies and gentlemen, you all made me very proud to drive Ford products and to be a shareholder.
  12. But thanks to my BLIS, my visibility is far better than yours!
  13. I know you can get Crown Vics and Transit Connects with a CNG prep package, but is Ford going to offer a CNG vehicle complete from the factory? Sure would be nice to fill up at home overnight and save 50% in fuel costs while I'm at it.
  14. I agree, for a factory sound system it is great.
  15. I beg to differ. Ford will sell a large percentage of higher end Foci. Just as the take rate on ecoboost is rather high, so will the take rate on a true premium compact car. People don't want a crapbox just because it's small and cheap. Some want it because it is small and good on gas, but they want the features and look that say, I could afford a bigger car, I CHOOSE to drive the Titanium. When I bought my SHO, it was never an issue on wether or not I would consider an SEL or Limited, it was ALL or NOTHING. Ford has found over and over again across their various offerings that the customers are choosing higher-optioned SEL's, Limiteds and so forth. Your statement reminds me of those poor souls who thought nobody would pay for the F-150 Raptor in our current economic situation. Well, we know that to be BS! When I bought my 2008 Focus, it was a fully loaded SES and I had to have it shipped in from across the country because my dealer (second largest in the nation) could not keep the high-end models on the lot. He did, however have 60 plus SE's that I could have taken home right away.
  16. Lincoln won't go anywhere. Alan and his crew have cut all they are going to cut. Now that Ford is in a better place, they will begin in earnest to get Lincoln back on it's feet. Alan is not a fool. He would have killed Lincoln and Mercury at the same time if Lincoln was going to go away. No one likes to pay for the same real estate twice.
  17. There is a ton of room in the Transit. Yes, we have E-250's and Transits in our fleet. Our guys show up early in order to steal the Transits for the day!
  18. Did I miss something, is the Falcon available in America? The Commodore won't make it over here in it's present form.
  19. How will it do against the Taurus SHO? Get it's ass kicked would be my guess!
  20. Why the hell don't you just pay me back instead. This is the most assinine thing I have ever heard of. You still owe the Treasury $40 plus BILLION dollars and you publically say that instead of paying back the money, we are going to invest in Green Energy. Bite me, I want the treasury paid back!
  21. Keep what I've paid in and let me get the hell out! There is no way SS will be around when I'm retired. Cut me loose, I can fend for myself.
