MyFord Touch is Still Not Right for 2013
MarkFive replied to transitman's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I get a new Ford with MFT. I tell everyone about MFT. My friends want to look at it. I show MFT - it does't work the way it is supposed to. I have to pull the fuse to make it work. What do you think the impression will be? -

So the excuse now is that it happens in a $100,000 + BMW? Buy a Ford, get a "quirky" vehicle and if you come to customer support then the answer will be "it happens in a $100,000 + BMW?" -

Quirky? A $35,000 + vehicle and you say quirky? -

If you are like my last Ford sales person, as soon as a customer comes in with complaints after getting their vehicle, you direct them to service - after all, not your problem is it. -

It's not a question of editing. I brought up valid concerns and one of the "regular" posters brings up the "drama queen" award. We are no longer talking about the issue. This is the way most things are handled here. -

This sums up every single thing on this board. What posters say and what the moderator and his fan base reply. -

IT is like Medicine. Someone can say "I work in IT," or "I work in Medicine." Both fields are so vast that to use the catch all title can led to some issues. Look at the original posters issues. Are those acceptable? Is having to pull a fuse acceptable in a vehicle that is supposed to be the recipient of updates to prior known issues? I made reference to how this would be an issue for someone who bought a laptop. Now wrap a $35,000+ vehicle around it. -

Pulling fuses on a brand new Ford is inexcusable. -

Does working in the IT field equate to "I understand the expectations of the average consumer?" No - they are quite separate. -

Interesting perspective........ If a laptop behaved the same way as the reported issues with MFT, almost every consumer would be back at the point of purchase to either demand a new one or a full refund. -

If you bought a laptop/PC/phone/tablet would you tolerate the same types of issues being reported with MFT ?? -

Too bad - I hope Ford resolves this as soon as they can. The Escape launch has had enough issues already. No matter what any of the apologists say, MFT is still an issue and something to be avoided until better feedback from existing customers. -
"What Exactly Is Your Problem"
MarkFive replied to RichardJensen's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Your counter-arguments to people who post on the "public" side of this forum are quite good. You bring up a lot of excellent arguments. If people "publicly" get out of line, you response is almost always in a mature manner. Nick behaves in the same manner. However, you chose to take a PM and make it public and IMO, this wasn't done for a "Teaching Moment." I would say that the vast majority of members who come here to read the posts or who actually post are adults - when one looks at some of the topics discussed, there is quite a lot of interesting information to be had. -

"How dumb does that sound?" - it does sound dumb. But........can't you just laugh it off? I mean, if it sounds dumb to you, then that's all that matters. What does posting it provide? A number of responses to back up your viewpoint that it sounds dumb? "We'll look into it and respect your privacy." - Unless it's an admin. -

Then you might relable the option to "M = Message." In addition, perhaps you could post another disclaimer that anything posted to an admin could be disclosed. You comment about posting the issue about another member is interesting. Is it to be assumed that Admins are above general rules? -

I do not think this should have been made public. What is the point of the function of "PM" if it's not respected? It does not matter who sent the message. It does not matter what the background of the poster is. The posting of the message served one purpose and one purpose only. -
Is Lincoln Getting an Escape?
MarkFive replied to ANTAUS's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I've seen MKD, MKC and MKG as potential names for this vehicle. I sincerely hope Autoblog is wrong with the MKD name. It's too fricken close to McD. Let's all go to McD's in my MKD............ -
Borg is right. It doesn't matter what anyone says to try to explain how this could be minimal and how Ford is reacting. A recall is a recall and the past two have gotten national press. You put a company in the spotlight for a turnaround, set the expectations that they are above others and then have this happen. Ford has screwed up and it doesn't matter what comparison is made to others. You set yourself above others, and you shall be judged accordingly.
