  1. You have to wonder WHY Ford just isn't benefiting very much thru all this.. DUH is this same type of people betting against USA Auto 100%. I can definitely see GM gone and not morned. At least Ford can keep a wrap on news of this sort.
  2. It's gone Frank Ford Said to Reverse Plans to Make SUV in Kentucky for Export
  3. This forum is for active and retired Ford employees only!
  4. Trying bouncing each side of the front end up and down in your drive and listen for the squeaks.. => shocks.. could also explain the tire WEAR
  5. Couple of answers, I can supply. From reading here a little bit. it now seems you can qualify for an X-plan PIN if you have 100 shares for over 6 months. But from personal experience this is where I stand on PINS... I get a limited number to use. I've generated them to find out they were never used, to find out someone wants one in case he may buy, to find out that someone thought he could use it as a bargaining chip in the purchase decision, and to have someone say they passed it along. or just didn't need it. SO I instituted my own policy on this and say I will cancel it if it's not used within 30 days, no exception. Few factors are also now in play on the PINs, Ford has trimmed the workforce down to over half it was 5 years ago. The site has a lot fewer employees on it now compared to just 2 years ago. Less PINs going out. Close to end of the year and some have used up their allocation of them, some hold til the end of the year. Some feel the way they have been treated by the company, passing out a pin just seems contradictory to how the public and company ends up treating the employees in general, if you can understand what I mean. Some like to see their own family benefit on them, rather than a total stranger. I guess you were lucky in the past, but if it means you have to have one, I'll withhold saying any more on it. Hopefully someone can help you.
  6. Their trying to whitewash OnStar is like saying AOL is still relevant in today's world too. I see GM two ways, one is a shame cause people want the money back, the other is: as long as they keep shooting themselves in the foot Ford can only sit back and bask in it.
  7. Go to progressive.com - actually USE that other insurance company comparator function they have, I DID, I found another insurance company that DID save me a ton of money, Hell I'm not afraid to mention it either, it's called Erie, and turned out a local agent was in my town too. SO rates are based on company's and exactly what you insure coverages, rental's etc.. that like saying I get 30MPG on my '00 Explorer V8 without telling you more about how it's done.
  8. 500 had No sales going on, had NO sales going on AFTER the name change too, You can't change history . Mullany said it was a shame to toss the name aside and it was put back onto the same car. Only now the new model is recognized as a Tarsus, but that 500 name switch was based on hopes the old name might help it. Then it would slot onto the new body style.. Sorry it hurt your feelings, but it still never raised sales but perhaps 1%. 500 Would have been a great name, but not on such a dud of a body style the conservative approach doesn't always work. Name die? they hold copyrights to tons of names.. they pull them out all the time.. Nothing DIES
  9. 'lɪŋkən Ag $ <- Now that is really taking it upscale What's interesting is, the MK names came about when the X was introduced, and no one seems to have seen the resemblence then to the '62 / '63 Continental Grill. Since it was a new model and it probably would have followed to say "Lets resurrect the name Continental with this". They probably sat down and had this same discussion that has gone on here. Big decision that finally got signed off by the highest man possible as it affects the entire line. Now Ferd is a conservative company by all standards, and change seems to be slow to them, but they do and will do it. 500/Tarsus change was done during a very week sales period where the cars were languishing and that model name was a wing and a prayer. MK/Mark <- not much thought put into that eh? Then X over, S edan, T ransport, C ompact, Z epher, F utura, G lobal... I wil wait to read the final outcome on Wikipedia
  10. Only thing about a Continental is, it just needs more cowbell
  11. Production, Yes, for the Lincoln's, but I'm sure you mean slotted into a Mustang. If not this year, I'm sure within 2. I can't see a reason why not.
  12. Preparing us for the Chinese designs I guess. And trying to pay off the Euro loans.
  13. Ahhh the ads that keep saying the German designed Buick's now.. yes anything to get away from a USA stigma
  14. This is just a re-hash of a discussion from over 2 years ago. Back then most people were saying,"Well everyone else is doing it and you have to compete on that level." So I guess 2 years from now, this will come up once again. But I really don't think Ford is listening to comment on here. I never liked it, and the way things are going right now, It would be ideal for Ford to return to names as another way to differentiate American design with the use of a name. Probably the real hurtle is how to return in a graceful way. ˈlɪŋkən <- my 1st. submission
  15. Most people would answer; The guy with the little weenie.
  16. Whoever owns the P R N D L name must be making a fortune off royalties.
  17. Ditto: from an OCT '99 Explorer and a Apr '05 Escape, and another one that is just 41 months old
  18. Exactly where is this buried other than the 1955 song? Course I want to buy me a Mercury and cruise up and down this road.. but it ain't gonna happen. You need to separate reality out of fantasy and urban myth.
  19. You dost protest too much. Within 20 miles of me, are these 2 examples; 1 is a Ford/Mercury dealer and another is a Ford/Mercury/Lincoln dealer. When I need Lincoln service I go to the Ford dealer, imagine that. I expect their payoff will allow the owners to purchase more personal toys for themselves. Pretty much any Mercury dealer is co-branded and hasn't made any money on Mercury's for a long long time. Time to give it up... Mercury is dead
