  1. Those are some solid numbers! I wonder if they'll apply to the Super Duty and other models the 6.2L is used. I'd like to see them put it in the Expedition for next year but I'm not holding my breath. What are the numbers going to be for the Coyote?
  2. That really is incredible! Do you plan on keeping it until 1 million miles? What kind of commute do you have that put all this mileage on?
  3. I believe that akirby's response is accurate. The most you are going to lose is the deposit. Best of luck and let us know what transpires.
  4. I like it - checked out www.fordvehicles.com and they had a bunch of info on it. I really don't need a Super Duty - an F150 would do - but I find the '11 SD much more appealing. It looks like this will be available for order in about 6 months, can't wait to see it in person.
  5. I rented a 2010 SES last week and drove about 500 miles (90%-95% highway) and the computer read 40.2 MPG (speeds ranging from 55 to 65MPH), I was really impressed considering that it is a 4-speed automatic. I wonder what the 2011 model will get with a six speed. I thought the car had plenty of pep for the driving I was doing in Michigan (not too many inclines) and it only downshifted a few times on the interstate. If I was in the market for a new car, I would consider the Focus. I love my Fusion but a 10 MPG increase for the amount of driving I do is tempting.
  6. I'm trying to wait it out with the hope that the Coyote engine will be available. I've seen quite a few '09 & '10 models on the road, I'm getting antsy!
  7. Congrats on getting the new MKZ and thanks for coming over to Ford. I'm hoping many GM and Chrysler owners will consider doing the same when it is time for their next vehicle. It sounds like a great car from your description. The turning circle on these cars is one flaw they really haven't addressed properly. I agree about RWD being superior in ideal conditions but I'm sure you'll find the FWD to do quite well on wet roads. You brought up a good point about the suspension - Im with you, prefer the sporty ride and handling. If folks want a little more comfort, they'll have to step up to the MKS. Best of luck with it and post some pics when you get a chance. Eric
  8. Mine is a bit older but I've recorded every single tank for 67,000 miles and I've averaged 28.25 with the 3.0 and FWD. I drive about 75% highway and 25% city.
  9. Would you consider a Focus when the Ecoboost motor is an option?
  10. Congrats on the purchase - I'm sure you will enjoy the Fusion Sport when it arrives!
  11. Wow, that's longer commute than I have (150 r/t for me) and that's a lot of miles on a 10-year old car. You've gotten your monies worth, that's for sure! I guess that might bode well for me although I'm not sure I want to keep this commute as long as you have. I park my car on the weekends and use my pick-up to run around. It is nine years old and has less miles than my Fusion as does my wife's minivan. As far as maintenance goes - should I be worried about tie rods and ball joints at a certain point? I'm following the maintenance guide for what is listed under "normal" usage for fluids, tune-up, etc. All I have done at this point is oil anf filter changes, tire rotations, and air filter changes. I'm still on the original rubber too, I think I can get another 20k out of the tires - which to me is amazing considering they're have a treadwear rating of only 300 I believe. Thanks, Eric
  12. I went to two Walmarts and neither had my FL-820S filter so I went to my local Ford Dealer who sold me a case of 12 for $3.95 each. They'll last me two years at my current driving rate. Funny thing is, they are not in boxes anymore, just separated by a cardboard divider.
  13. I don't believe they're a fluke - you drove conservatively and had favorable conditions. We don't have mountains here in the NE anywhere close to what you folks out West have. Back in 1996, I drove to visit a friend at college up in Plattsburgh, NY which takes me through the Adirondack Mountains. I was driving a 1995 Plymouth Neon Sport sedan with a 2.0L 132HP engine and 5-speed manual. The car was then rated at 29 City, 38 Highway and I was able to achieve 46 MPG. I kept it at 60MPH with the cruise on and couldn't believe my numbers either. These numbers are not as impressive as yours but do show that you don't have to be a hypermiler to occasionally achieve excellect fuel efficiency. I currently drive my 2007 Fusion with the 3.0L 150 miles per day, 5 times a week. My trip is about 75% highway and 25% city. I've calculated my MPG every single tank of gas for the life of the car (over 64k miles). I've averaged 28.25 MPG - not too shabby. I have gotten over 30 MPG in the summer when traffic is lighter and the blend of fuel is not oxygentated. In the winter, I sometimes only reach 26-27 because of the same factors (traffic and winter blend fuel). We have E10 all throughout the year, I wonder what these cars could do with no ethanol in the fuel supply. Please keep us posted on future trips, I'm anxious to see if you can repeat the numbers. My numbers in my Fusion are down about 1 MPG this summer - not sure why yet. The car might need a tune up or might just be due to traffic patterns. Eric
  14. Wow, that's remarkable! Excellent driving to attain those figures. Just goes to show you that you don't need to pay a premium for a hybrid to achieve excellent fuel economy. I wonder in the horsepower and torque increase actually helps the I4 get better efficiency on the highway since it is not working as hard.
  15. Sorry about the typo - meant 2011, not 2001. Thanks for the reply. I'd like to see some type of powertrain upgrade to the Expedition EL before I make the purchase. If the Coyote engine isn't an option, would Ford consider putting the Boss 6.2L in the Expy?
  16. Is the 5.0L Coyote engine an EB engine or normally aspirated? What vehicles will it appear in? I presume the Mustang, F-150, and Expedition? Will this arrive for the 2011 model year?
  17. Make the EB an option on FWD as well, would save weight from the AWD model and increase efficiency.
  18. I'm on the fence about buying a 2010 model to take advantage of the sales tax deduction this year or waiting for the possibility that the EB motors will be available for the 2011 MY. We have three boys; ages 6, 4, and 1. The minivan is sufficent for now but we are outgrowing it, especially on trips when we pack a lot of junk. Will the EB motor be worth the wait or is the 5.4L good enough?
  19. I bet those seats with the cooling feature are neat. Maybe my shirt won't stick to the leather like it does in my car. I'm mildly surprised about the differences you've experienced in fuel economy between the Expy and Suburban. Not sure why there is such a disparity. Glad to hear it though. I'm fighting myself from ordering a new Expy right now, trying to wait it out for a bit. Not easy.
  20. That's all that matters - we don't have anything to tow. I've driven the F-150 with the 5.4L but was worried about the extra weight of the Expy EL. Thanks, Eric
  21. Ah, I am so jealous. I'd like to get an EL KR for my wife and three boys and move on from the minivan. I missed the '09 cutoff so I'm going to wait a bit (maybe until Sept or Oct) to order a new one. Is the 5.4L enough motor for a vehicle so heavy? I keep debating whether I should wait for a new engine for the '11 MY. I'd like to take advantage of the sales tax deduction this year though. It seems like everyone in my area has a Suburban - I'd like to add one Expedition to the town. Good luck with the new Expy. Eric
  22. Just perusing through www.fordvehicles.com and saw incentives for the 2010 Taurus SHO: $1,000 Rebate OR 0% Financing for 36 Months (other rates and lengths available) Not bad considering the model hasn't even hit the streets yet. They also listed the 2010 Edge incentives. Eric
  23. I agree with you - Ford will really grab some new customers with the 2010 model. The '06-'09 are really nice cars and perform well, they just didn't get the press the 2010 is getting. Hopefully we can grab some former GM and Chrysler loyalists and bring them to the Blue Oval.
  24. Congrats on the new Fusion, she's a beauty. I'm jealous. Best of luck with it, good things come to those who wait. You waited quite a while. There's a Black, Sangria, and Blue nearby - tempted to go check it out. Great photos by the way, really makes the car look sharp. Eric
