  1. When the order is placed - the dealer will get a print out - it's called a DORA. I don't know the details, but several threads here on it about it. It will have the specs of your car - you should review it to make sure it is exactly what you want. Our dealer actually made us sign ours so we all agreed it was correct. That kind of protects you and them. Make them show you the DORA. That will also have 2 pieces of information that will help you start tracking your car - the Dealer number and the Order number. There are fine friendly Ford employees on this site that will help out once you have enough posts and you follow their rules.
  2. Interesting question - don't have ours yet - should be this weekend, but if you put the fob in the car and then lock the door - can't anyone just walk up to the car and touch the handle and unlock the car? I thought if the fob was within a certain distance all you had to do was touch the handle to unlock? I like being able to lock the fob in the car - but I thought anyone would be able to just touch the handle and unlock the car if the fob was nearby or in the car.
  3. Could I have an update please? Should be the last one. VIN - 3FA6P0K91DR267161
  4. For some details on that shipping to DFW - at least from my experience - check this thread - http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/52847-anyone-tracked-from-hermosillo-to-dallas/ post #11 and my signature have some dates. This was for a gas Titanium. But as long as you don't need to go through extra inspections or get side tracked - your experience should be similar for shipping.
  5. Great news, thanks for the information! I had done a couple of Google searches looking for something like that and had not found it by name or on the railroad sites. I had heard there was a big location in Lancaster - and it looks like that must be it or very close. Now just straight up 75 about 40 miles and she'll be home!! Would love to think they could make that happen by COB tomorrow. It is getting close. Dang - waiting is such a hard thing. I figured Miller must be a really old township or something that isn't recognized as it existed 100 years ago. The railroads do use those old names to help designate their locations as do the phone companies - the bill can show some names I've never heard of when calling long distance numbers. I think that is one of the interesting things having navigation in a car - all of those old townships or whatever they may be show up as you drive around. There are tons of them around North Dallas and area - the navigation will pop up an old city name or township you've never heard of. Just a bit of history.
  6. Well - I can probably be officially labeled as nuts - so at least I fit in around here. Have tracked from factory to Dallas. The UP automated system isn't the best with pronunciation so I can't actually confirm the final destination and I'm not familiar with, nor can I find it on a map - a place called Miller, TX close to Dallas. The UP system does say "arrived at" instead of left - so I'm inclined to think this is the final destination for the rail car and where it will be off loaded to a truck and now enter the black hole - probably won't know anything else until the dealer calls. The only ETA I've got still says 3/28 - which is still 8 days away. I'm hoping that is wrong. Here is the proof of my insanity - I know someone at UP probably reviews the ACD reports for their system and they are wondering which nut checked on his rail car so often. The good news - it only takes about 1 minute to get the status. 3/15/13 3:10 PM Nogales, MX 3/16/13 11:48 PM Received by UP 3/16/13 1:39 PM Departed Nogales 3/18/13 7:30 AM Ellen TX 3/18/13 7:55 AM Tornillo TX 3/18/13 8:26 AM McNary, TX 3/18/13 11:29 AM Wild Horse, TX 3/18/13 1:00 PM Kosic, TX 3/18/13 2:36 PM Vegas Siding, TX 3/18/13 3:23 PM Barstow, TX 3/18/13 4:20 PM Monahans,TX 3/18/13 5:33 PM Arcade, TX 3/18/13 7:44 PM Chub, TX 3/18/13 9:41 PM dhome/dome, TX - ? 3/18/13 10:17 PM Roscoe, TX 3/19/13 7:33 AM Cisco, TX 3/19/13 8:24 AM Tiffin, TX 3/19/13 10:22 AM Brazos, TX 3/19/13 11:22 AM Earls, TX - ? 3/19/13 12:40 PM Anneta, TX 3/19/13 8:44 PM Tower 55, TX 3/19/13 9:57 PM Grand Prarie, TX 3/19/13 10:30 PM Dallas, TX 3/19/13 11:21 PM Arrived at Miller Rail Yard, 8150 S Central Expy, Dallas TX
  7. This is an interesting mod. I didn't spend lots of time with it, but there was an MKZ at the Dallas auto show and personally I loved the sleek look of the dash and button area. It was solid - nothing visible. I assumed that when you turned the key on the lights and touch areas came to light - which personally I love that look. I do understand in a more expensive car that you do look for more - I'm just not a huge wood grain fan. Would be very interesting if you do an upgrade to something like that to retro what comes out of an MKZ into a Titanium Fusion. Loved that clean look.
  8. A little disappointed at what they bring to the Dallas show as well. No Titaniums. And you never get a top of the line pickup from Ford or GM. Maybe they just don't want that many people crawling all over them. It was nice to see an LKZ with the pano roof opened. I'd not looked at or seen one of them. The roof was very interesting opened all the way up - slides down the outside of the back glass. That was so interesting to see I didn't notice the bad antenna on the side that some have complained about. Maybe they had it taken off as they do a lot of items like that at a show.
  9. Have a 2.0 Gas Titanium- it's on a train - to be delivered next week built on 3/8. According to Etis it has Grill Shutters. I know Etis isn't perfect, so will have to wait on delivery to confirm.
  10. I got accurate information from Eric this week. Who knew there could be so many different systems in play that would give different information.
  11. I understand - should be no real excuses - my second paragraph is all about the dealer communication. I'm not making excuses for anyone, just trying to also keep a little reality in it all. We are a very small fraction of the people buying Ford cars. The huge majority never know anything like tracking and dealer communications happen at all.
  12. Here are a couple of threads that have consolidated a lot of the information for tracking and stalking your car: Lots of good info here: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/52708-useful-resources-for-those-joining-the-ford-family/?hl=tracking More details in these threads: Railway tracking: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/52703-tracking-cars-on-railways/ Research Maniacs - window sticker and a few other notes http://researchmaniacs.com/Ford/TrackFactoryCarOrders.html Order statuses: this one is older, but still relevant: http://greenhybrid.com/discuss/f61/ford-dealer-discusses-orders-allocation-19747/ VIN decoder: https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_tools/default.asp
  13. Wow - I feel for you guys that have waited so long on your cars. I just have to say though you really have to understand and appreciate the system and it's complexity. I think the biggest thing is that so many have ordered cars before Ford was building them, we as the human race don't like to wait, but that starts it there - we anticipate something that we don't even have build dates for. Once built there are delays, but those hopefully only ensure you get a better car by doing extra quality checks. But really - it is this - we wish Ford and the dealers would communicate better. They build several million cars around world yearly - it has to be a fairly well oiled machine to operate. When you do one off's it throws the whole system off. Again - the old 80/20 rule. They can't spend 80% of their time satisfying 20% - or in our cases 1% of the customers. Delivery does seem to take a long time once it is built and you are waiting, but the system just doesn't allow for one off's. The lots where new cars are unloaded are big and a given car could be parked in the middle of the lot. It isn't feasible for them to move 50 cars to get to one. So it has to flow by the system which controls the inventory and delivery. It seems the $795 is high, but with the time and diesel and trains, it all adds up and is probably a pretty cheap proposition to get the cars delivered in the time frame they are. The biggest lesson for all - and I've heard it all my life: for many reasons - quality, perfect timing of the supply chain, etc - never buy a car in it's first model year.
  14. I like your style and tend to do the same thing. If you don't get the answer you are looking for the first place, go check another. The information is in front of all of them, likely they just are afraid of giving it out. I'm sure some dealers don't like that information coming from anyone but them.
  15. Credit Union rules have changed so much in recent years. The old EDS CU - is now InTouch - https://www.itcu.org/personal/rates/vehicle-loans and is at 1.99% up to 72 months. They have offices in several states, TX, NV and MI I think for sure.
  16. I don't have a reference link to the article - but if you want to know what is building Buick - Google their sales in China. It is a very big luxury car there - The BMW and Mercedes are too high for them - Buick fits the bill and where I believe a majority of the Buick sales are coming from.
  17. Update please - really hoping for a rail car number and an ETA ! Thanks. VIN - 3FA6P0K91DR267161
  18. Thanks for the pictures - that sucks and I can only imagine the pit in your stomach. The agony of having to wait and now going through that again.
  19. By the way - sorry to hear about the totaled Fusion - makes me cringe. May not want to really see such a nice car crumpled up - but are there pics? Hoping no one was hurt.
  20. Yes - the qualifying company you work for has a code for the partner web site.
  21. You can not get the lighted door sills from the factory. They are strictly a dealer add on. There are 2 colors though - dune and black - so it might make a difference based on which color interior you get.
  22. This is the most I've seen - http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/52930-2014my-fusion/ Even getting the very first 2014 car off the line you're looking at August before delivery.
  23. Thanks for the update. I went through 2 bad dealerships before being directed to Bob Tomes in McKinney. Didn't want to drive the 15 miles up there with 2 others literally within a couple of miles, but it has been very well worth it so far.
  24. ice-capades - thanks for sharing. I've found a dealer just North of Dallas that seems to have that kind of customer focus as well and it is a breath of fresh air. I'm curious though - how many of your sales are customers which custom order a car vs buy off the lot? While what you do is great and really is what I expect from someone where I custom order a car, isn't it probably fact the number of custom orders is a very small percentage of the total number of sales in a given year? I'm with everyone else here - I want up to the minute updates, but I'm wondering does the old 80/20 rule apply. You are spending 80% of your time trying to satisfy a smaller than 20% number of your customers - the ones that custom order.
  25. The satellites never change time of any kind. They send a single standard time signal year round. It is up to your device and mfr, in this case MFT, to build in the smarts to make it know which time zone it is in and correctly set that offset, as well as DST. Or you may have to manually set them both. You mention the DST setting has been removed in the latest software so that means you have to physically adjust by one hour which others mentioned as well.
