  1. The reason Wixom lost the Fusion in 2006 is because of our $72 per hour labor rates. It was then the IUAW understood this trend would continue plant by plant as new products come out they would slowly place them in lower cost countries like Mexico and Canada. In 2007 the IUAW negotiated a concessionary agreement that kept our rates of pay good benefits and pension. The IUAW were on the path to insuring the “Fusion Episode” would never happen again because of our labor cost. In exchange for lowering our labor costs The IUAW gained billions of dollars in product, jobs and commitments as we are seeing today with all of this investment and job postings in CAP, CSP, LAP, KTP. KAP, DTP, MAP etc. The IUAW stopped the loss of union membership and actually started adding new workers as designed. Because of this success we have good job security but the job security insurance is never done. The IUAW must remain vigilant and continue to bargain more and more products in our plants, yet keeping us in the realm of consistently winning product. I can hope the report of 10,000 jobs is true. This would be consistent with the IUAW vision of keeping our work in UAW plants. If anyone is foolish enough to listen to “gary” then all of the above would be unattainable Simply enough “gary” wants to get our labor rates back up to $72 per hour and then we would experience the “Wixom Episode” to play out in every UAW location. If these 10,000 jobs report is true and I hope it is, then the IUAW has successfully insured our futures of job security. No thanks gary. I will make my decisions on the educated, committed, farsighted IUAW path to success
  2. 1) Product commitments I agree is collectively the most important. It is our true job security program 2) Entry level, contentious as it is will not go away until our politicians enforce a real trade policy. The increases negotiated shows the IUAW will continue to make strides in closing the gap. A true #2 priority 3) Sub and TAP is important and product commitments make having to utilize this safety net less and less likely. Once again a top 3 priority Product commitments = Jobs which in turn makes our problems go away. Good list of priorities
  3. Chuckie, These commitments were all implemented by the IUAW based on "economic conditions", yet even though we went through the worst economic period (2008 Bush Economic collapse) the IUAW steadfastly pressed the company to invest in the plants listed above. Yes they were all granted and implemented between 2007 and 2011 impacting 20,000 UAW Ford workers with coveted job security

  5. Each day Chrysler fights the UAW machine the closer we get to a possible strike
  6. Sergio is back with a vengeance and will more than likely challenge the UAW in arbitration, a strike at Ford may be eminent Be ready !!
  7. Yes Skilled would be a beneficiary of and new product commitment
  8. Then we can both agree that the 2007 product commitments occurred under the worst economic conditions ever (Bush 2008) yet still gained 98% of those investments, was a huge success. Can we also agree that it is the highest priority to again get product commitments in writing so we may enjoy job security for all 40,000 of us?
  9. Well Sergio is crying and it seems we will be helping our Chrysler brothers and Sisters............. A strike may be eminent if talks break down at Ford. I wouldn't put it past Chrysler and Ford that they may have a pact to fight the UAW on the remaining 2 contracts. They may be working together behind the scenes Stay tough negotiators, if a strike is needed we are ready !
  10. Now more than ever we must stop the "company owes us" and "we get everything back". These are statements that the press are looking for to print or put on TV. It only gains public hatred for us and would not be beneficial in case talks break down. The media will spin us as spoiled, under worked, outdated, luddites Keep away from the press, they will just twist things to hurt us........... Talking to the press will only hurt the uaws position of bargaining
  11. This whole negotiation season is like a rollercoaster. GM or Chrysler, Chrysler or GM, the Sergio letter to King, UAW makes huge gains at GM, Sergio says GM agreement is too rich etc... This is a break point or a pivotal point in our futures. It does not sound like Chrysler is neither going good nor will they budge to agree to the well bargained GM agreement Chrysler may want to test the waters in arbitration. Thats where we are a part of this possibility. Ford may want to drag on negotiations to see what happens in Chrysler arbitration. The UAW could set a deadline and Ford will not budge. You guessed it,,,,,,,,,,,,,, we may be on strike soon. I am not stoking fear but a possibility of a strike is getting greater by the day. Plan our budgets, $200 strike pay is not much so plan for it Odds are getting better by the day; we may need to do this to help our brothers and sisters at Chrysler Be ready, we should see strike plans soon from our local leadership Grimshaw
  12. It is amazing how the UAW can bargain all of these bonuses, keep benefits, get tons of work and many other improvements under the circumstances. The IUAW are bargaining geniuses
  13. Go getem Settles Were up to bat Remember Mr Settles Jobs, Product, Investments first
  14. We need product commitments like 2007 and above. Many still need jobs. Although Chicago and Louisville and Kentucky truck had large gains in job security from the 2007 agreement and we were offered the opportunities several time some people just cant sell homes and move. We need product commitments again. GM monetary gains are good but we need more jobs Skilled trades are in dire need of jobs. Last I heard on trades there were over 500 without work, possibly more The UAW knows that jobs, jobs, jobs fixes everything Product commitments is a yes vote for me
  15. He is nothing but a lip flapping fool and a lap dog for that guy from dtp Both fools,,,,,,,, Maybe explains why he was fired,,,,,, You know, smarter than everyone else
  16. Its not that we all agree or disagree. Its the simple fact that we must understand and not undercut each other. GM is different than Ford on profit sharing. It was a gain at GM including the 10% reduction. They included Canada and Mexico profits like us (Ford) where they were just US profits only. That would have boosted their earnings as you stated earlier. This is still a gain. Before 2007 we always funded retiree healthcare out of our wages. We just didnt see it because it was taken out of our wages historically the entire time. It was not a "permissible" item of bargaining and unsustainable. Many are agreeing it was still the best thing the UAW did in 2007 which protected GM and Chrysler retirees from losing health care during the bankruptcy hearings, saving hundreds of thousands of retirees and surviving spouses
  17. Oh good... we may need some made in china sunglasses too!! Happen to know anyone??
  18. Thank you. We are thankful for what we have and protective of our earning power. Those dissidents that you see in the news or read in the paper are no representative of the majority of us here. The media purposely seeks those sick people out and expose them to make us all look bad. Thank you again

  22. I would have never even dreamed that the IUAW could negotiate all of these gains. No wonder King left sergio hanging, he was making some huge gains at GM............... I will contain my excitement until I see details. If this is true GM will be an American manufacturing icon once again
  23. So true. Health care benefits increase 10% year over year. If the IUAW in fact made improvements this will be a golden win !! Unbelievable
