This is kind of off topic, I was just wondering does the gear selector on late model automatic transmitions have any machanical connection to the transmition or is it done electronically now? I'm curious?? Thanks Lenny

I have to say, the voice recognition with the Sync Services is terrible. It’s almost not usable. It almost never under stands anything I ask for. I’m glad I am not paying for it. I will not be renewing it at the end of the three years. On the other hand, The My Ford touch side of the system is fine. Yes it makes mistakes every once and awhile, but it’s usable. Has anyone else experienced this with the Sync Services?

Good thing I'm drunk! At least it's a good excuse to be confused! It's odd all the patens are years old???

I've been reading about carbon build up Issues on direct inject engines, especially turbos. I've read some cases that the engine can have problems with it at 15-20k (not ford) miles. Just wondering if anyone has any information on this for our 1.6 and 2.0 engines? From what I've been reading, it seems risky to keep vehicles with these engines long turn.

How much did the charge for that?

I've been able to receive text and play them prior to this update. If I tried to compose one either by voice or the screen, it said "device not supported" With this update, I'm still able to receive and play them, but now it lets me compose a text or reply to a text using a list of caned messages. BUT after I send it I get a new message, "send failed" Closer to working, but still no Cigar....

Up dated mine today. Download went fine. The update went smooth also. What I did was: 1-removed the A4 map card and my USB music 2-uninstalled my phone from Sync and off my phone 3-did a master reset 4-pulled the sync fuse and reinstalled it 5-did another master reset 6-Did the install After about 30 min. The install finished. I then did another master reset then used my USB with the forse reboot app and the system rebooted. Reinstalled my phone sent a vehical health report. Everything seems to be working fine (including receiving and listing to texts on my iphone 4. Still can't send them, but wasn't expecting to) I like some of the new information on the screen and so far it's working well! Hopefully it stays this way, I will follow up in a few days.

How long did it take you. I know It looks filthy, was it completely plugged? If you held it up to a light, would any light get through?

Mine is perfect. At least by my eye. One of the lucky ones I guess.

We tested a Chevy Caprice Police vehicle with a 6.0 liter V8 engine. I did not drive it,(I'm not an officer) but I was talking to the fleet Machanic about it. He said the thing is a rocket! It looked pretty nice, but I prefer Ford.

I thought there was some mechanics on staff paid hourly by the dealer it self? If so, They probably do the non warenty work that gets billed by the actual repair time.

I receive texts fine with 3.5 but can't reply to them, not even the canned replays. Does the new update allow me to send a canned reply? No Siri on my iPhone 4.

All I know is the factory nav installed in my 08 ford edge was spot on. Also with the TomTom on the dash next to the system in my escape the differences are huge! How can a system tell you to turn after you already passed the intersection? Never happened in my 08. My Tom Tom or my Friends 12 Jeep. I know what your saying, but this one is way off.

Some times the circuits need to see resistance and or amparage from the inconecent lamp. I've tried replacing a inconecent bulb with an LED in a older Trafic light. It did not work properly, the system used resistance to determine if a lamp was out in order to switch the Trafic signal to flash. I hope it works for you.

I respectfully disagree, my old Tom Tom, (5 years + old) was right on the money. This system is so bad, that even using it in my own aria, confuses me. The Tom Tom was 10 times better and that was 5 years ago and the Tom Tom was only $100.00 bucks!

Mine does have GPS signal (no red X, that problem was fixed) its just off by 50 feet and slow to correct. Two examples. When at a red light at an intersection that I'm going to make a turn at, it tells me 50 feet before I have to turn even though I'm sitting at the intersection. The second one, It shows me driving on the highway, when I get off a ramp it continues to track me on the highway for a bit even though I'm not on it. After a few seconds it will jump to where I am. Drives me crazy!

I had this TSB done about a month ago for the lack of or long delay for GPS lock. Now the car finds the GPS very fast, but it is now not very accurate. With the map up on the screen, as I drive through a intersection, after I'm through it the screen shows me just entering it. Same thing with side to side. It seems the GPS is off be 50 ft or so. Anyone else notice this? Maybe another TSB? Have not been back to the dealer yet, I'll wait till next service. Thanks Lenny

I'm not sure, but, I do not think SYNC or MFT stores any codes when it goes crazy. It's just software bugs or hardware issues. That's what I've been lead to beleve over the last year.

Im not taking sides here, but maybe the owners manual should just substitute the phrase "turn the key to on" with "put the car in accessory mode" through out the manual.

It's funny how they package things. With my 08 Edge Limited, in order to get the Nav, you had to get the sunroof.

I'm not seeing that much of a price difference between 13 / 14 The sticker on my 13 was $37100 with destination. After building a 14 comprable to mine, it was $37225 with destination. That's adding the 19" wheels, the cargo cover, and roof rails.
