  1. Yeah...those amazing Hondas...my ex-wife had a 1986 Accord....pile of crap...alternator failed....gotta yank the half shaft to get to it...or pull the intake manifold. mid pipe in the exhaust system rotted out, twice...very expensive part....fuel filler neck rotted out, causing the carb to become fouled. Ball joints front and rear suspension systems nothing but problems, radiator fell apart. So, after putting a ton into this POS...she finally gets a newer one after several domestics.....oh yeah, her 2000 Accord...in the shop more than on the road...my kids tell her she should buy a Ford like what Dad drives...he never has any problems with his Fusion.....The Mystique that she had right before we split? After she drove it into the ground...she sold it for $100 and the kid that bought it....still drives it today....but you keep getting those Hondas there snoots.....more power to ya....
  2. Was surfing the site...have you looked at some of the cars? The Focus (not to be confused with "New Focus") looks like it rolled out of Wayne circa 2000-2004.....I thought C170 chassis was dead everywhere except in the North American market....
  3. hmmm...interesting grille design...gotta look at it for a while :reading:
  4. Yes it does, I had registered my Fusion at the site the day I bought the car (7/2006) My girlfriends Escape (purchased 10/2005) was not registered at the time she bought it, I registered it a few weeks ago on the site and every repair, warranty or other wise, that was performed at three different Ford dealers all were there for viewing. If it was worked on at a Ford dealership (includes Quick Lane services)...it will show up on the "My Ford" site.
  5. With dealerships opening "Quick Lanes" that directly compete with the likes of Jiffy Lube etc...why on earth would you bring your car, truck, or SUV anywhere else...This service will show up on the My Ford website and enable you to track all the work that was done on your car, also allowing you to add your own services too if you do your own oil changes, tire rotations, etc....this owner added information shows up right back to Ford as "owner performed" services. Interestingly, a local GM Store is adding a "Quick Lanes" as the conglomerate that owns the dealership has "Quick Lanes" at both of their Ford stores in the area. The newest "Quick Lanes" is right down on what we call "car alley" where there are plenty of automotive brands to choose from as well as a few of the quickie lube joints too.
  6. I am shocked that Bob Lutz didn't make this announcement.....oh, wait...I would have been built off the G8 platform had he made the announcement.
  7. Hmmmm, Acadia....a location settled by French Canadians with a trip to the Denali National Park in Alaska. When is Chevrolet coming out with an Adirondack Colorado pickup?? Or maybe GMC will finally come out with a beefed up off road version of the Canyon and then call it.....wait for it..... The Grand Canyon :hysterical: :hysterical:
  8. Seeing as he is "done" with the Ford Motor Company...maybe he'll trade it for a used <insert foreign car make here> SUV. I am not going to make fun of him (well, maybe a little), but I have to question his tactics.....if I am going to write to the CEO and Chairman of a major corporation, am I going to tell them that I would never buy their product ever again? That is a huge error in judgment. Quick re-hash of my Continental experience....tires on my 2006 Fusion were worn down to the tread bars all the way around at 32K (rotate every 5K) Call Conti and explain my experience, but instead of fuming and raving at them, I tell them how I have had great experiences with Conti and General tires in the past and that while I will buy them again, I am disappointed with the performance of this particular set of Contis'......you guessed it....50% pro-rated adjustment for four new Contis (that now have 45K on them, look and are wearing great...thank you very much). Moral to the story? You get more with honey than you do with vinegar.
  9. Oh...trust me....the ole, "wait til your father gets home!" was a top reply to any misbehavior or mistakes on my part.... I still vividly remember an ass whipping I got for spilling oil based paint on the brand new (exactly one day old) carpet in the summer house...and that was over 35 years ago...
  10. Just for kicks, I built a Ford Transit as listed below....it comes in at a whopping $43,044.85 (converted from British Pounds to US Dollars) and that is before the VAT...but, it is a brute in form...dual rear wheels, 200PS (approx. 197HP) and 470Nm (approx. 346 Ft. Lbs.) of torque. with a 2,265 Kg (4993 Lb) GVW. Sounds pretty stout....Econoline can do that and more....right? ******************************************************************** 03 September 2009 19:02 Your vehicle 350 LWB Single Chassis Cab Jumbo Dual Rear Wheel - Transit (Base) Base price £26,370.00 Standard Features 3.2 Duratorq TDCi Diesel (200PS) - RWD Rear Wheel Drive Axle Ratio 4.10 Jumbo Dual Rear Wheel - Transit (Base) Front Brakes - Brake Pad Wear Indicator, 80 litres fuel tank, Power-Assisted Steering,Front, independent MacPherson struts, variable rate coil springs, stabiliser bar and gas-pressurised shock absorbers. 11. I concur 1000%....a wonderful addition to Econoline. How to meld the best of Econoline and Transit is the obvious question that Ford must resolve if they truly are interested in the "One Ford" approach.
  12. One of the first things my mother taught me was parallel parking....that was right after learning to drive a standard transmission..(reasoning in my best "mother" tone; "You may have to drive to the hospital, and the only car available is a standard...what are you gonna do? Die??") My kids watch in awe as I easily park where others fear to even try.... Sadly, when school districts are in a funding crunch...one of the first things to go is "driver education" and not for anything, it should be a mainstay in every curriculum for high schoolers.
  13. The latest Chevrolet ad compares several Chevys to Hondas , then Howie Long claims there is one model of Honda that has no comparison in a Chevrolet...a Honda lawn mower.....after seeing that ad, my girlfriend turns to me and says, "Honda makes lawn mowers?" Damnit...I had her talked into a Cub Cadet!!!
  14. Exactly!! We see ads from GM touting that this or that model is better than offerings from Toyota, Honda, etc etc etc....Ford ads tout the strength of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury products....
  15. ...and Tacoma production will head to Texas in the San Antonio Tundra plant....
  16. Only if Tata had them on the roof...then they be going through the roof....on their way to the basement....
  17. GMC is the Tundra fighter.....Chevy truck is the Ford fighter.....
  18. Thought Buick was supposed to be the BMW fighter division now that Pontiac has gone to the great scrap yard in the sky....Shouldn't Chevrolet be the "Camry fighter" division? And....funny they call it a "Camry fighter" when the test is against the Lexus ES.....
  19. Also, they pretty much validated what Mulally already knew....this is the car that the designers should have brought out first....not the re-hashed Five Hundred with a Fusion style grille (which I liked)
