  1. I too would like Ford to display more information on the LCD. My guess is that they held back, in order to offer it as an "upgrade" on the 2012 models. If true, then it is silly, unless they also offer this as a software upgrade for 2011 trucks.
  2. I almost didn't get the BU camera, but on a SCREW with 6-1/2' bed, I'm sure glad I changed my mind and got it at the last minute -- expensive, but worth it.
  3. In my opinion, I would do the following: Order the truck you want. Yes, you'll forfeit the $750 coupon, however, by the time the truck arrives, any new incentives will apply, and will probably be greater than $750 that you would save NOW. For example, I ordered my truck in November and picked it up in January just when the old set of incentives were replaced with new incentives. So I got $4250 in rebates instead of the original $1500. As the year goes on, the Ford incentives/rebates will only get better. It's just the way things work....
  4. Yeah, but Ford actually provides a CHMSL wire that they could have also used. But I guess it doesn't really matter. I I figured out where the wire is on the 2011 F150 and described it at the link below. http://www.f150forum.com/f38/2011-chmsl-wire-3rd-brake-light-83548/
  5. I've posted this almost everywhere.. Anyone know where the light-green (CHMSL = center high mount stop lamp) wire is located on a 2011 F150 for wiring the 3rd brake light on a camper shell? Or where was it on the 2009-2010 model years, maybe it is in the same place on the '11s? I found the following for 2004-08 models, but I just see the wiring harness on the 2011 and no light-green wire: "The CHMSL wire on 2004-08 F150s is located on the driver's side frame under the front door. If you look under the truck at this location there is a plastic shroud around factory wiring/plugs, on the outside of the frame. At the front portion of the wiring there is the light green CHMSL wire wrapped onto the cluster of wires."
  6. That's strange, but in my part of the country, my dealer only stocks 5-1/2' beds, and I wanted a 6-1/2' bed. So maybe your dealer only orders higher-end trucks with backup cameras? I dunno... I have a 2011 XLT Super Crew and I special ordered it. I almost didn't get the backup camera, but am so glad that I changed my mind at the last minute! It is an excellent thing to have, especially with a Super Crew. I also like the "reverse sensing system" that comes in the "XLT Plus Package". I would suggest doing a special order and getting the backup camera -- I don't think it is easy to add after the fact since wiring may not be in place.
  7. I'm not sure that the oil gauge on the 5.0L is any different than the usual "pressure / no pressure" switch -- I've seen mine move a little bit, but usually it doesn't and the needle stays at the 1/2 way mark.
  8. My truck is a Job #1 truck, and its "born-on" date starts with a "2", so that can't be the Job #. Somewhere else I've read that the first digit is the priority of the build (e.g. priority 2); but this shouldn't have anything to do with the "priority" that your dealer assigns since I don't think they can go lower than 10. It's a blue oval mystery....
  9. Yep - open diff when not locked, and traction control helps.
  10. Yes, you must be in 4WD (either 4Hi or 4Lo) on the "standard F150s" to engage the locker. The Raptor is a special case and you can be in 2WD and have the elocker engaged. I don't know if it is possible to override the behavior on the trucks that must be in 4WD.
  11. Most of the F150s at my dealership come with 20" wheels. My dealer mostly sells the higher-end trims, such as FX4, Lariat, King Ranch. These have too much "bling bling" for my likes, especially the 20" wheels. I special ordered my 2011 F150 XLT SuperCrew (got it last week), and it comes with 17" wheels by default, as long as you don't get the "chrome package", or some of the other options that would give you 18" to 20" wheels. One reason I wanted 17" wheels is because I already have a set of snow chains that will fit and are "approved" by Ford for the tires I was going to put on the truck (LT265/70R17). Many people may not realize that Ford won't allow snow chain use on most larger wheels/tires due to clearance issues. I'd never want to own a set of wheels/tires that would prevent you from using snow chains on a TRUCK. (I also swapped out the OEM Ford tires with Toyo Open Country A/T -- looks sweet....)
  12. Get this democrat a government job, pronto... We need more deception and conniving in Washington. Word up!
  13. Yeah, but if you keep the Volt for 100 years, then you'll save $20,800! Govt Motors is awesome. Thankfully our government, through the EPA, hasn't outlawed gas-powered vehicles, especially since my tricycle has a flat tire at the moment.
  14. Sorry for barging in, just to vent a little bit even though this is NOT my truck or discussion thread: It is hilarious (in a bad way) that salespersons still think it is the 1950's and that Al Gore hasn't yet invented the internet, and that information isn't otherwise available, and that they will never be caught in a lie. I called my salesperson asking if there was an ETA on the delivery of my F150 and she said, "We just had our morning meeting and there is no ETA." I pressed and asked, "Are you sure?", and she replied, "I'll double-check and will call you back IF there is an ETA, otherwise I won't call back." Of course, she never called back. Of course, I got the impression that she wasn't going to be calling back, so I immediately called the Ford Marketing Department and they gave me the ETA. Days later, I happened to speak to the sales manager (a different person) at the dealership and he confirmed the same ETA that I got from Ford Marketing, and told me that it was on a rail car, etc etc etc... (It will hopefully arrive this week.) It would be really inexpensive for Ford to develop a web app that would allow customers to get updates on their vehicles -- the information is there, it just needs to be presented to customers.
  15. I'm not a Ford employee, but my understanding is that the window sticker doesn't become available until about a week before the vehicle is scheduled to build. It doesn't look like your VIN is scheduled yet, or you have the wrong VIN? http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=2FMDK4KC7BBA71980
  16. For those checking this board, you can call the Ford Marketing Dept (800-334-4375) and they can give you an update on your vehicle if you have your VIN. My truck is currently "in production"at DTP as of yesterday (Thursday). There was a problem at the DTP assembly line, starting Wednesday night, with out-of-sequence parts -- hope parts aren't missing from my truck, but then again, maybe they'll mistakenly add the $2k (or whatever) nav system that I didn't want. http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/42385-dtp-trucks-out-of-sequence/
  17. Since you are leaving for vacation at 3pm, I was wondering if there might be an update on the final status just before you leave? VIN 1FTFW1EF2BFA47669 My F150 is theoretically being "born" today, and may be on an assembly line somewhere at Dearborn if all is going as scheduled. Take care....
  18. My SuperCrew is scheduled to build on Thursday (12/16) at DTP, so I should know whether or not it was built by Friday (I think). It doesn't make sense that there is a hold at KCAP due to PCM problems that wouldn't also affect DTP, unless Ford gets the PCMs from two different sources (Mexico and ?)? Or maybe an older supply of PCMs are okay, but a newer supply has problems? Hmm...
  19. Hmmm... I can't explain, but the printout I have shows the Dealer/Order #s above, but it is not the official DORA (I don't have a copy of that). My salesperson just called and said that the truck is scheduled to go into production on Monday (the 13th) with VIN 1FTFW1EF2BFA47669. I was able to download the window sticker and it is definitely my truck. EDIT: I just noticed that the sticker shows a 'scheduled' build date of 12/16. I'm curious what information you show for the VIN? Thanks!
  20. Do you remember if it was a regular cab, supercrew, etc? (Assuming it matters.) I think I read that EcoBoost will be 5% better than the 5.0L.
  21. Has anyone driven the EcoBoost and the 5.0L? I ordered a 5.0L, but it seems like Ford is really trying to market the EcoBoost (and all the love and praise is for it), so I hope I didn't make a mistake with the 5.0L. I don't tow much and didn't think the small savings in MPG (maybe 1-2 mpg?) was worth the extra $$$. Hope I don't regret this decision since I plan to keep the truck for 10+ years. (On the other hand, the 5.0L isn't really proven yet, so maybe I should have just bought a 2010... need to stop second guessing...) Thanks
  22. Hello! I ordered on November 26, and the dealer told me that the "order has been picked up by Ford", but that's all I know at the moment. Dealer # F56549 Order # 0111 Basic Description: F150 SuperCrew XLT 4x4 5.0L Engine 3.73 axle with E-locker 6.5' Bed Black Exterior / Steel Grey Interior I'll be pimping with 17" wheels since I didn't get the chrome package which upgrades you to 18" wheels. Appreciate it!
  23. Sounds like you tried the obvious. There is an Expedition forum at the website below with some really good technical guys -- try posting there, and I'll bet you'll get some more ideas: http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/
