  1. I have a 2.0L EB Titanium (FWD) and I have the active grill shutters. So far that I've seen it really does seem to be almost completely random, some cars have it and some don't.
  2. I just wanted to say I used this guide as well and I greatly appreciate the time put in to make it. Saved me a bunch of time having to figure stuff out during the install. I was going to do the fogs, but I'm holding off as I changed my mind on the bulbs. I had 6k's for headlights and 5k's for fogs, but the 6k were too blue for me. So I put the 5k's in the headlights and I'll probably get another set of 5k's for the fogs (or maybe the 4.3k). So if anyone wants a pair of 6k bulbs (spares?) let me know, you can have them for $20 shipped anywhere in the continental US.
  3. It's a fairly tight area, I can't see how you would get a pair of channel locks around the side of the filter. Mine was also on tight as hell, I used the "stab it with a screwdriver and mangle it to hell" method to get it off. I always do my own oil changes so I typically only have to get a stubborn oil filter off when I get a new car, which is very infrequent. That's the only reason I haven't gotten a oil filter wrench, doesn't seem worth it to me.
  4. Haha, no thankfully. The 2.7T is a great performing engine and has a lot of potential, but everything I've read says they're a maintenance nightmare. And I agree, the interior even on my 12 year old Audi is awesome. It's not even just the feel of the materials, it's the solidness. That's one thing I definitely notice a difference with the Fusion, is a lot of things just feel less substantial. Like thump on a piece of plastic in the Audi and it feels/sounds solid. Do the same in the Fusion and it has a more thin/hollow sound to it. It's not a huge deal or anything, but it does make a difference in the overall feel of the car. It doesn't bother me that much though, otherwise I would have gotten another used Audi (since I'm not willing to spend $40+ on a new one).
  5. I have not seen that on mine.
  6. Mine does not play in order either. I am also a "listens to entire albums" guy and it frustrates me. I basically rarely use the 32GB USB drive and mostly stream music from my phone as I can play it properly that way. I'm still amazed at how Ford could release MFT with as many issues as it has (mostly the slowness). And hearing that it has gotten significantly better than a few years ago really baffles my mind.
  7. Sport mode also seems to shift a tiny bit quicker as well, at least to me. I enjoy driving in sport mode, but when I'm just tooling around or have the wife and kid in the car I leave it in D.
  8. I would not generally buy a car in its first year either, but I also needed something now and couldn't wait. And as for moving away from Audi, I had pretty good luck with my 2001 A4. I bought it for $12k in 2005 and put over 100k miles on it. Up until I started modding it (bigger turbo, etc) it was very dependable and didn't require any extraordinary amount of maintenance. I did all my own work and it wasn't any more expensive to maintain than any other car I've had (probably less so than my 94 Camaro as it broke all the damn time). Honestly for the most part my Fusion has been perfect. The paint is very minor, it only annoys me because I expect something like that to be perfect (it really should be since it's all done by robots). The interior panels I only noticed after reading this thread. The paint defects I posted above would be 100% the factory.
  9. I'll be taking mine in for the same issue soon. I have another gap between the vent and the headlight controls that is more bothersome to me than the misalignment though. Passenger side: I also have several paint defects that aren't terrible but they annoy me because they shouldn't be there. They look worse in person. It looks like there is debris under the paint. These are in the rain channels on the roof. I also have a spot on the front bumper that I keep forgetting to get a picture of.
  10. It's not really the size of the turbo that makes it hard to hear, it's just that the engineers do everything possible to make it quiet. I have a hybrid K04 in my Audi (which I still need to sell...) and it's plenty loud. I have a very short intake so you can very easily hear the woosh of the turbo as well as the diverter valve when it dumps pressure (like a blow off valve). It's all in the plumbing.
  11. I'm still not impressed with mine. I ran a full highway tank at 70mph and got 28mpg. Ran another tank with 90% highway and 10% city and got 26mpg. I am still unable to get more than 22mpg with my normal 50/50 highway/city driving. I wouldn't have a problem with the gas mileage if I were in a performance sedan, but it's a little bothersome getting this in a FWD non-performance sedan. Depending on how things end up playing out with the 2014 Chevy SS I might consider trading in the Fusion for one of those when it comes out. My biggest complaint about the Fusion is the FWD. I wouldn't have opted for AWD because I would only get AWD from Audi or Subaru, they're the only ones that do AWD right. Anyway, ramblings aside, I'm still waiting to see how it does in the summer. I've got 3k miles on it now so it'll be fully broken in and off winter fuel, so if it's not getting what I want then I will be complaining to the dealership.
  12. The engine should not be under boost even at 80mph on a flat road. All my turbo experience is from my previous Audi 1.8T, but even on the stock tiny turbo it was never under boost on the highway unless I was accelerating or on an incline.
  13. I have neither, I'm FWD with the stock 18" wheels. I'm also in NC and whilte we've had some cold days it's mostly been in the 40-60 degree range with occasional 30 degree weather.
  14. Marjen has the 2.0L Ecoboost, not a hybrid. I haven't been terribly impressed with my mileage either, but it's not as bad as marjen's: That's ~60% highway (70-75mph). That is with me trying relatively hard to get good mileage, including lots of coasting. I got similar mileage out of my poorly tuned (extremely rich) 1.8L turbo Audi (bigger turbo, bigger injectors, front mount intercooler, blah blah blah).
  15. It all works fine (IMO) it's just not as fast as I'd like. Maybe I'm spoiled with my Galaxy S3, but it seems like it wouldn't be that hard to make the interface nice and smooth like my phone. It's not like running the hardware from a phone would take up much room. Maybe they would have been better off going with an Android backbone instead of Microsoft....
  16. I don't like the Y spokes as much as the H spokes, but either looks 100x better than the 20 spokes that come with the Titanium. I'm still scratching my head on why they picked such a bland design as the base wheel for the Titanium. I really need to find new wheels, I'm just having a hard time finding what I want (and I'm not 100% sure of what I want either!). I want to stick with 18" wheels (so I don't have to incur the cost of new tires) but I'd like some kind of nice concave 5 spokes, or even maybe 18" replicas of the H spoke wheels....
  17. I agree, I doubt that 300hp is going to kill the trans in this car. My Audi A4 came with 170hp and when I was done with it the car was making closer to 280-300hp. I started modding at 140k miles (25psi on a hybrid K04 turbo) and at 170k it has now I've not had a single problem with the engine or trans (it has an automatic). I won't be modding the Fusion anytime soon though, I've never had a warranty and I don't want to take the chance of losing it. If I do any mods they'll be done through Ford so I don't risk my warranty.
  18. Oddly enough I went to do the 3.5.1 update (as syncmyride showed I had 3.2.2) and found out I already had 3.5.1 installed. I'm a bit disappointed, because the interface lags a good bit and I was hoping the update would fix that. I'd hate to see what 3.2.2 looks like... I really hope whenever the next update comes out they get the smoothness and transitions down. My $250 phone should not be faster than the interface in my $30k car. Yes, I understand the difference, but with the amount of R&D put into a car it really should be seamless IMO.
  19. Congrats! Every picture I see with the 19" wheels makes me hate my 18" stock Titanium wheels more and more....
  20. Thanks! I don't have Nav so that's not a problem. I'll work on upgrading sometime this week.
  21. How did you do the 3.5.1 update yourself? I think I'd rather do that at this point because it's really hard to get down to the dealership to have them do it right now.
  22. No idea but I'd be glad to post my ground to fender height when I get home. Then maybe Strike or someone else with an AWD Titanium can post theirs so we can see.
  23. Good to know, I wasn't sure if it was all tied into the same module or not. I'll do some more testing and see if I actually have a problem or not. Because I wasn't able to initially get it to work right I ended up putting it at last setting so I don't freeze my butt off.
  24. Ahh. I haven't actually looked in the hybrid trunk so I was guessing. Then yeah, that makes sense. When I test drove the Hyundai Sonata they actually told me that was a feature to save weight. But really, how much does a donut really weigh, 15 lbs?
  25. The regular Fusion (at least my 2.0L Ecoboost) as a regular donut under the carpet in the trunk. It makes sense that the Hybrid doesn't have one, there isn't any room with the batteries.
