  1. I like to think Lincoln's follow a similar color philosophy as Mercedes - lots of greys, whites, silvers and black. But I really like the MKZ's in the ruby color. I'd go white though on the MKC, no question! I also hate the chrome though, so would have to black out *a lot* of trim lol.
  2. MK focus would be sweet, the focus is an awesome car. Come to think of it, there aren't really many luxury hatchbacks out there, let alone cool ones. Soooo much utility from a hatchback! Actually, how awesome would a Focus ST based Lincoln be? While I love the ST, many of it's detractors harp on boy racer styling and busy interior/uncomfortable bolsters. Only problem I see is not having the proper transmission for the application, that DCT would be a disaster for a luxury car and no way they sell a Lincoln with a manual lol
  3. Yup, I agree with others above, definitely a different car. The spoiler on the trunk looks a lot different along with it being much more rounded. Also looks like the bumper and diffuser are really different, but that could just be the focus. The only other thing I could imagine is that this was the old MKZ concept, but the lights don't really line up either, I also vote MKS concept...
  4. You all see the crash between the Ferrari and Corvette LMP car? Holy hell that looked brutal...
  5. Hmm I could swear there was something like this before, a "history of Lincoln" type bit with shots of the mkz, maybe 3 months ago? Oh well, serious deja vu... Boom, found it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lv3P4Z0-o7s
  6. Didn't they have this commercial a couple months ago? Just added the navigator and MKC? I don't know, need to find another angle if they want to get millennials.
  7. Sorry bad wording on my part, meant to say tire rotation has a lesser benefit when all 4 wheels are permanently driven - such as 4x4 mode on F150, subaru S-AWD, Audi quattro, Acura SH-AWD, Nissan ATTESA. But still reasonable to do. Pretty sure the edge is the FWD until needed type AWD system. I think the only permanent AWD system Ford has is in the F-series 4x4 and older explorer/expedition. Permanent AWD is a fuel economy hit for sure.
  8. A MKC engeri would kick ass! One customer base Lincoln is dying to make inroads with are coastal consumers, where Ford's market share is weaker than the middle of the country. California would be perfect for the energi (climate wise, maybe not commute wise), it would give drivers HOV access. BMW's are about as common out there as Honda's, so people for sure have the money. Ford could nab a sub-segment with more or less no competition.
  9. Sporty cars will also run more aggressive suspension setups which can contribute to tire wear. For instance, most sports sedan's run a decent amount of negative camber, which will aid in high speed cornering. Negative is you'll wear the inside of the tire more while going straight. Any kind of toe will also contribute negatively to tire wear, but not sure if sports cars come with a toe out. An alignment can help, and also you should rotate the tires, could really help prolong tire life with anything besides permanent AWD (such as FWD based AWD like MKZ).
  10. Wait, so they don't let you sit in the MKC at the autoshow....damn
  11. I will back this up too, my understanding is that tire companies provide OEM's with tires that *are often* different from the ones available to consumers. They work with OEM's on specifically meeting performance/price constraints for individual vehicles. They use the same model designation so as not to introduce additional confusion. OP - conti tires are from most accounts on the lower end of the quality/performance spectrum amongst the premium brands, Michelin widely acknowledged as making the best tires in most segments (maybe not winter/snow).
  12. Booooooo I remember sitting in a Fiesta ST last year and transit connect (I think). Only roped off vehicles were the MKC and Atlas for obvious reasons. Come on Ford, F150 and Mustang please!!!!!
  13. Just saw the yellow Mustang they have (on autoblog) Only sad point is it looks to be fenced off. Any idea if we'll be able to sit in one?
  14. Have they formally released the curb weight for the S550? That's a big detail I've yet to see.
  15. I think the distinguishing factor is Ford will pull this off on the highest volume model in NA, also a vehicle that must be rugged and durable. However, they certainly wouldn't be the first to other segments, VW/Audi is using a new dual platform approach (MLB/MQB) that uses Al on much of the frame. It will be used in pretty much everything from the golf, to Audi A8 to Porsche Macan. But 700lbs is pretty jaw dropping! Definitely blows for GM and Chrysler, who just refreshed their main pickup lines, a mid-cycle Al conversion is possible, but they'll play second fiddle in this area for sure. Light weighting seems to be the next step in the crusade for better fuel economy, with the previous being FI engines, hybrids and better automatic transmissions, Ford was definitely among the leaders in turbocharging and hybrids. They made some advances in transmissions but still seem to be middle of the pack IMO. Diesel or other alternative energy should also be on the horizon, at least here in NA.
  16. The beauty of this engine should be the ability to drive it at low RPM out of boost to get fantastic MPG, while getting tons of torque when opening up the throttle. I'm curious about the transmission they can mate it to, if it shifts/behaves anything like the ZF8, then will be a homerun.
  17. Here's what I'm excited to see. Ford - F150 (obviously), Mustang, MKC, wish they'd show the mondeo wagon with DRL headlights; GM - CTS-V or ATS-V? Z06; BMW - M3/M4, 2 series, i8; Audi - Q3 (hopefully RSQ3), A3/S3 sedan; Merc - C-Class; Porsche - Macan; Toyota - RC-F (just to barf in person), FT-1; Subaru - WRX (also to barf); Chrysler - 200; Nissan - concept M3 competitor; That's what I can come up with off the top of my head, M3 and Mustang are the one's I'm really excited to see and F150 given how important it is.
  18. It seems like they're definitely playing coy by keeping the take rate down. You can only get it in NA in mid-level fiesta hatchbacks with MT. I also wonder if there's a low amount of dealer allocations available, because there are none at my local dealership (it's a big one). Could be that they want to test the waters, or maybe it's not a high profit margin - where else do they make this engine other than England/Eastern Europe? Regarding the dyno, it's interesting how the torque doesn't drop off in the high RPM band. Most turbo engines I've seen dynoed have a fall off, either to protect the engine or because the turbos are tuned for low-end boost.
  19. I like it, great price to bring people into the showroom. Assuming the take rate will be pretty high on mid-high trims, along with cool features. I'd go AWD 2.0 top trim - so around 44k MSRP. That's a great value compared to the Q5, X3, RX300 etc.
  20. Holy hell that's impressive, for some reason there's really not a lot of good info online about this engine. I really hope the new mustang gets this eventually, could be mated to a proper drivetrain/transmission and would be a tuners wet dream.
