  1. the 673 is just production. Nothing is happening with trades right now
  2. the only thing that we know is the lowest 673 are gone. Everything beyond that is speculation
  3. but why would anyone want a little fact like that get in the way?
  4. The article did cite anticipated retirements too. I won't even pretend to know how stuff on the trades side of things works. I'm still figuring out stuff on the productions end.
  5. The reason the old one was able to stay so cheap was because the tooling was paid for at least 10 years prior to its death. No way a new one can be that cheap without eating all that cost, that's how you go bankrupt.
  6. no, they're made on a separate line and treated like a whole separate plant.
  7. they aren't even up to speed on Transit production? WTF? Its been in production almost a year!
  8. Its not a capacity issue, its a shipping issue. I've explained this several times
  9. Why would they want to hurt the industry that funds them the most? Politicians - self serving at its finest.
  10. Ford's bread and butter Diesel engines in North America are for commercial vehicles. They seem to feel that to develop one for a NA passenger car isn't worth investing in at this point since they've already invested so much into a very capable hybrid/PHEV system. Sorry diesel fans, Ford just isn't going to do it. Go buy a Volkswagen if you want a diesel in a midsize sedan
  11. What nmsford said. It's a moot point anyway, 99% of us would be out bid if we could transfer anyway just based on seniority alone
  12. Is it a so-called dream job? No. But it is a job you can be proud of having.
  13. This is true. We can't bid for a transfer, but we can be transferred by the company where they need us. It's really screwey.
  14. Ford wants as much Tier 2 at Sterling as possible (and Rawsonville too for that matter) because they don't count against the 20% cap don't be surprised if a lot of us from MAP end up at either of those 2 plants if that mythical 3rd shift at FRAP doesn't open up soon.
  15. eh, i don't see them canning PI sedan any time soon. Smaller communities that have no need for utilities still need them, and in a lot of cases the Charger PI doesn't fit their needs either in the northern states where AWD is a must.
  16. None of us know what's going on right now with that, there's so much rumor and BS being spread around right now that its impossible to tell what's real and what isn't There isn't enough openings at the other plants for all 675 of us right now, until that mythical 3rd shift in Flat Rock opens up, and I'm starting to have my doubts as to not only when, but if that is even happening. The most irritating part of all of this is that its a decision that was likely mulled over since GM cut a shift in Lake Orion for Sonic/Spark production so you would think they would have come up with a plan so they could at least give us something instead of letting the rumors fly.
  17. And people wonder why I'm worried I'll be sitting at home for a while.....
  18. the only thing I can think of is they want to build trials for MY2016. Nothing else makes any kind of sense
  19. Which is why rumor is our chairman didn't even want to bring in a 3rd shift.
  20. Yeah, that's what 10yrs no seniority alluded to yesterday. A whole lot of nothing really.
  21. the past 2 years has told me that they really don't care about attendance. What reason do I have to believe otherwise?
  22. You know thats gonna happen despite what some seem to think
  23. yeah, I saw a picture of it a friend of mine got via text. I was wondering why more people weren't more pissed off about it.
