  1. You can be a FUNNY man.......I am NOT talking about current retires and you know it...........and for you to use it here I can see you have no answer for my statements ( I didn't even factor in COLA, the figure would be much higher) and you are less then neutral when it comes to caring for what happens to the people who fought to get YOU where YOU are today..... LIB is my future because I am not a Tier 2 person. Any person who is a LEGACY EMPLOYEE, Life Income Benefit is their future also... For a TIER 2 EMPLOYEE, it is a thing of the past because they will never see it............... I can see you don't care, so I am guessing, as you guessed with me, that you are a tier 2 person. If not, Life Income Benefit is also your future............. and if you "get some now", hopefully the Union will remember what you did for the company so they could remain solvent, you can add to that later............As for GM and the Union, they have now turned their backs on the very people who saved them.............for without GM and Chrysler, where would the UAW be? At least the Union got something for the current retirees........... they really can't push the issue if the company says "sorry, not gonna happen" can they..........
  2. The 2007 LIB was across the board not just the top. Everyone received $2.65 over the life of the contract, and who said I was at the top?........... As I stated, for the last ten years the people waiting to retire, whether it's when the contract gets signed or a year or two down the road, have "lost" a good amount of cash in that time frame. Now would be the time for the Union to bargain for a LIB increase to show that 1) the Union appreciates what they have done over the course of those 10+ years........... 2) The company should go along with it because it helped them remain solvent. I am sure both sides see that........... Another way to look at it......... lets just say if we had a raise of $1 ten years ago....... At 1600 hrs a year that's $1600 x 10 = $16,000 If you work 500 hrs OT that's $750 x 10= 7,500 Added = $23,500............. Now you and I know this is Low-Balled........... This is just a $1.00 raise 10 years ago........... lost Now lets look at what a pay out would be..... Something for the guys who bailed your ass out when things went south........... (in more ways then one)......... Lets say they add $3.00 to LIB.......... and you got 30 yrs........... $90 x 12 = $1080 And how long till you break even?.................... 21.7 years........... What I'm saying here, we all shared in the pain when it all fell apart, why aren't we getting something in return when we leave? I don't care if LIB is becoming a thing of the past............ The people who worked and gave up a lot to keep everything moving in the right direction are here and now.......... It's the present and they are bargaining for OUR FUTURE.................Don't care about J.C. Penny............. That's their business........... and they don't build cars Just my thoughts.................
  3. Your Life Income Benefit (LIB) can and has been raised in many contracts by itself and not tied to a hourly raise............. And that is what I am talking about. To say a raise is tied to your hourly rate is wrong if you are maxed out on the current formula, and many people are................ Also, the last time LIB was raised was in 2007, when $2.65 was added, and this is what I am talking about, not adding 5 cents because you just "jumped" to the next level in the formula....... There have been other contracts that have added $4.00 I will vote NO on any contract that doesn't add to the Life Income Benefit.................. And I mean the BENEFIT not the HOURLY RATE..............
  4. I will vote NO on any contract that doesn't add money to the Life Income Benefit........... The people that are waiting in line to retire, or will retire under the new contract, have given up 10+ years of no raise, and no cola. At this point, they should get more from a union that has collected their dues and raised those same dues, without skipping a beat. The only thing a person waiting to retire gets in this contract is a piece of paper, from The UAW, that asks if they will pay dues as a retiree. It will be a NO vote from me.........
  5. Correct.............. Every contract.............. That is why they can't have a 8 year pay raise in a 4 year contract......... It can be "thrown out" after 4...........
  6. I'm all for EVERYBODY in production making the same wage............ Back in the day............(way back) you had 90 days to learn a job, if you did, you stayed and received the same pay as the guy next to you.......... Whether he or she was there 1 year or 30 years, if you didn't you were gone!!.......... If you can do the job, you should get the pay.............. PERIOD!!!!!
  7. You're right "Pablo"...............and that's the problem............Turning their back on legacy employees when they can't give anymore is not how you keep people in the union, and that's not how you attract new members...........
  8. I am quoting from another page ................."In spite of the monumental profitability of the FCA, most of the HARD SACRIFICES made by the "Traditional" members have seemingly gone unappreciated and unequated into the terms of this Tentative Agreement. How much of what my Traditional Brothers and Sisters have GIVEN UP is being RIGHTFULLY RETURNED TO YOU?????????............. That's where that pat on the back and SEE YA don't work for me............... People in that boat paid their debt......... It's time for that debt to be paid back............They are close to retirement, add to the "Life Income Benefit"..............
  9. Have to disagree......... In 2007 top "Life benefit Income" was raised to $54.30............ So if you're a "tradesman" you can't get anymore then that. A 3% raise in pay, does not increase your benefit if you are already at the top. I feel if a person has given up 12 years of money (cola and pay raise)........... the least The Union could do is increase the "Life Income Benefit" so when they leave they have something to show for what they gave up.........
  10. Hope there is something in there for people who have given the past 12 years with no raise and are thinking about retirement............. Not talking "buyout" here........... I'm talking about the money that is factored in for retirement. Right now it's $54 and some change.........that number hasn't changed since 2007. If you haven't had a raise in 12 years and getting ready to retire, you will be going out the door with nothing to show for those 12 years except a "thank you" from the union. Oh, they will ask you to join the retires chapter so they can get your dues....but if it goes up, everyone that gets a traditional pension, will get that raise sooner or later........ That number needs to change for all the legacy employees ...........
  11. No it don't............. It says........... The UAW will formally explore whether it should renegotiate a proposed contract with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles before making the bolder decision to move on to General Motors or Ford to reach a deal,
  12. If they (IUAW) go to Ford or GM, they are "chicken shit"............ At that point, they feel they would not be productive in getting a contract that the FCA Union would pass...... I don't remember a time when a "target" was picked and after a vote, backed out, and went to another company because of a NO vote............. YOU STARTED IT........ FINISH IT..............
  13. Well, someone said it.............. Pension Increase...............That should be a point we all agree on. Tier 1 has not had a raise in 10+ years and gave up cola............ There are many of those people "standing at the door" waiting for a contract to be signed so they can retire. What are they getting for those 10 years of sitting back and waiting "for their turn"??? In this contract.............. NOTHING............. and a raise in pension now, is a raise in pension for anyone foward. Maybe it won't be this contract, but when or if you retire in the next one, that money will be there for you. It's time for the auto companies to pay that debt............. I think I saw a raise for tier 2 in this contract, if not, it should be there for them to............. Their 401k would look a little better at the end of the year..............
  14. You're right............. to many SISSY BITCHES out there..............No guts to strike
  15. Here's something to read.......... interesting look.........http://www.counterpunch.org/2015/08/28/the-fate-of-the-uaw-study-aim-fire/
  16. There was a time when trades could turn down a contract. Without the help of production. If trades turned it down, even though production did not, the contract failed. Now, we have no say. Auto companies can give production "a little more" and take from trades. Many of the plants now have a "rolodex" full of outside contractors waiting to come in and do our jobs.............. That "fully utilized" at 40 hours is bullshit, and that needs to be addressed.
  17. littlecountry is right. I've heard that statement so many times that I've been looking for it in the contract book just to see when it got passed. It wasn't there when I first started at Fords over 30 years ago..........
  18. If the UAW picks FCA, it will be because they want to strike. If they pick Ford, it's because they want a contract. They may pick GM now because of all the money they just made, but they are all rookies there, so I doubt it..... I say Ford will be the target and settle without strike............ I've never been right yet so.......
  19. Now we got this; while FRAP expands Ford moves Focus and C-Max production out of Unitrd States.......... I guess that means Mexico....... http://www.clickondetroit.com/consumer/automotive/ford-to-end-production-of-focus-cmax-at-michigan-assembly-in-2018/34077406
  20. Just heard that Ford is moving production of Focus, C-Max out of United States in 2018 http://www.clickondetroit.com/consumer/automotive/ford-to-end-production-of-focus-cmax-at-michigan-assembly-in-2018/34077406
  21. Don't think so, but I could see tier 2 being the norm over there. Just like a few other plants in the area. Someday it will be split "core/non-core" and all "non-core" will be tier 2.
  22. Low seniority at Brownstown is about 12 years. Maybe more. If you have less then that you will be bottom man. No 2 tier people there except the ones coming in from other plants........... Brother works there..........
  23. We'll get the signing bonus and that's about it. Most people don't look at anything else but.................. I'm with "trail" ........ if it has a signing bonus it's BONE-US TIME .... A NO vote from me..........
  24. I've said to before and I'll say it again, " There will be a "buy-down" in this contract. If FMC offers enough mony to Legacy Employees they will take a pay-cut. Tier 2 will get part of that "cut" as a raise. Many of those Legacy people will "take the money and run" and tier 2 will take the raise........... That will be your majority and it will pass.
