  1. I would like to thank the people in KY who built my new 2013 Escape SE. This is the best built and nicest small suv I have ever owned. It is quiet and economical. The eco-boost engine delivers plenty of power and gas economy. The interior is well built and roomy. I can see that a lot of care was taken in the manufacture of this vehicle. I worked for 39 years at Lorain Assembly. Thanks again guys and gals!
  2. I believe you are entitled to a meal break by state law. This is a real health issue especially if you are diabetic and need frequent meals. The IUAW should be involved and stop this nonsense!
  3. The new website is great! It is easily navigated and looks good. Just one question.... why is the Econoline picture shown going away (a small statement maybe...)?
  4. Thank you Spring. That would be a good job for you; but I don't think the powers that be would let you print everthing.
  5. Maybe because prostitution is legal in Nevada and the IUAW wants to be on the giving instead of receiving end once a year?
  6. I am a retiree and often try to keep up with what is happening locally by reading Local 2000s' award winning web site. I have noticed that nothing has been up-dated on the site since Thanksgiving. What happened??
  7. Ford will start lump sum buyouts of salary retirements in the third quarter according to an article i read in the Detroit News. How long until hourly is offered buyouts or the IUAW starts handling retirements? Any replies or guesses?
  8. Don't take the wife out to dinner! Save the $24 for the next hike in perscription drugs co-pay and/or the increase in monthly payments for health care. It seems to me everything we fought for in my 39 years at Ford has been given back or taken away.
  9. Hmmm... See if you can find a copy of the local agreement Timmy brokered at Lorain. This sounds just like what went down there; only we passsed the darn thing!
  10. I would like to thank the IUAW for all the phone calls about SB5 I received prior to Nov. 8th. and the one I received at 6:45pm Nov.8th asking if I had voted. I am so glad you remembered me and wanted to discuss SB5; but I am very saddened you didn't remember me in contract talks. I have walked the picket line with my father at age 18 in '67. As a worker I have seen the IUAW bargain for better pensions, more holidays, more relief time, better training, medical benefits, COLA and the belief in a fair days work for a fair days pay. Since I retired I have watched the IUAW give up or curtail many of these benefits gained over the years. I am turning into a bitter old man thinking about all the time I spent believing in the tenets stated by the IUAW. I hope in the next contract the IUAW gets back COLA, relief time, and ends the two-tiered wage system; then maybe I can once again have some faith in the IUAW.
  11. Would any one know what happened at OHAP to the worker that was crushed between two pipes? I know he was taken to Metro Trauma.
  12. One more thing... as part of the health care reform act that was passed in 2010 we have a program called ERRP (early retiree reinsurance program) that stays in effect till 2014. If you get a chance read it. When you have tell me why our medical program is so messed up? A good website is www.errp.gov/ Well time to put my soap box away.
  13. Check out the mailing you will be receiving in the early part of November. This may help you decide on another medical plan instead of the TCN.Can't wait till then? check out the retirees health care connect web page. I agree it is shameful the way The UAW has treated their retirees. Everything is a copay or you have to meet a deductible. We live on a FiXED income, one illness or surgery and suddenly we are faced with thousand of dollars in copays ,deductibles and doctor visits. Our medical costs keep going up but our pensions sure won't!!!
  14. Has the new (or refurbished) body shop been built per 2007 contract yet? I think before any new product comes to OHAP you will have to upgrade body shop.
  15. If you are retired living on a fixed income you may qualify for help from the hospital. Check with the payment office usually there is a program available. I believe the chairman of the VEBA was a pres. or vp of BC/BS of Michigan. HMMMM I wonder, naw I'm sure he's working for all us retirees on a fixed income.
  16. /Can anyone tell me how our $340 annual out of pocket costs work? What is and what is not deductible?
  17. I agree people in Ohio have gotten a raw deal. I recently read a book titled Flatlined it was writtened by a neurosurgeon from Texas. The book mentioned the amount of people that were under insured. With my pension and what TCN would pay I pray every night I never get sick .
  18. Try using this web address www.benefitsweb.com/rhcc.html it will help answer a lot of your questions. My understanding is you have to pay the doctor, but not until you receive an EOB with the allowed amount that has been neogiated by the plan, not what the doctor charges you initially. Now that Ford is saving all this $$$$ in health care don't you think it's time for retirees to receive an increase in pensions to help offset the major out of pocket costs we have to pay?
  19. How many people on the board of the uaw retiree medical benefits trust are UAW retirees? Do these people serve for free, or are they compensated? Did anyone ask retirees for their input on their medical benefits? Close your eyes and think back to the fifties. That is about where the UAW is today. There I've vented. I feel better.
  20. Connie Schultz has an interesting column in todays' Plain Dealer (5-11-2007). You can view it at Cleveland.com.
  21. If you have a computer try going to COBRAinsurance.com Hope this helps
  22. Maybe the minutes could be published in the union newspaper ? I think Spring does a good job of keeping the membership informed.
  23. What if GM and Ford both went together and bought DCX and then sliced it up to suit their various car lines? Jeep and Land Rover? GM and Caravans? Parts plants for both? More sales for both GM and Ford? What do you think?
