  1. Thank you. I would certainly appreciate any Mustang information you come across. I had assumed the Mustang hybrid would come once S650 moved to the CD6 architecture, and that it would use the Aviator GT power train. This would still be a pretty awesome Mustang, but then Ford did patent a V8 with twin electric motors. I appreciate not everything that gets a patent sees production, but a hybrid V8 would be my preference, simply because its the best of both worlds. Guess we'll just need to wait until that '23MY https://www.carscoops.com/2019/01/ford-patents-v8-two-electric-motors-hybrid-system-mustang-going-awd/#targetText=First noticed by Autoguide%2C the, motors power the front wheels.
  2. 55th Anniversary was this year (2019 calendar year, 2020 Model Year). This is the new dash plaque for the '20MY cars
  3. Thank you for the info.........using the Mustang logo/name does not sit well with me, but it is what it is Anything you can share on S550/S650 would be appreciated. From what I can gather, we'll get a refresh for '21MY and, potentially, an all new car for '23MY. :)
  4. Capacity at a plant that is shortly to stop building the Continental? It's possibly, I guess, but I'm pretty sure a Mustang hybrid would be more welcome here than an all electric SUV.
  5. No hybrid Mustang for Europe? I wonder what their justification for that is? It can't be because "Mustang fans in Europe won't want a hybrid" because we're getting the Mach-E.
  6. We own a Mk1 Kuga (UK version of the Escape, obviously) and I'm on a Kuga Owners Facebook group. I know its usual for many owners of a current vehicle not to like change, but whenever someone posts photos of the new Escape I reckon 8 out of 10 replies are negative. Personally, I like it, although I've still not seen one in the metal. I was unsure of the new Focus at first (which this shares many styling cues from), but in the metal, the Focus is pretty nice looking. As for an emergency facelift? I guess if sales haven't met expectations that would make sense.
  7. Apologies for asking, but are these actually confirmed or just best educated guesses? My main interest here is with Mustang and its tough to get solid info. I've heard everything from a mild refresh for '21MY as above, but also heard the same for '22 & '23MY!!! I appreciate Ford play things very close their chests, but I also appreciate there are people here with good inside info.
  8. The first step should be the hybrid Mustang, especially if it's a hybrid mated to the Coyote as seems to be the case. Trust me, some Mustang purists think that's a step too far! What I find hard to get my head around is when Ford announced it was going to use the Mach 1 name for this BEV, there was an uproar from Mustang fans (and rightly so in my opinion). Ford heard the cries and decided to call it Mach E instead.............BUT.......it wasn't just that they were going to use the Mach 1 name, it was as much as they were linking it to Mustang. Ford don't seem to have realised this and are still going ahead with sticking a pony on it.
  9. For me, its because it shares nothing with Mustang........not platform, not engines and certainly not in keeping with Mustang's styling DNA of short tail and long hood coupe proportions. I might......might have found it more acceptable if this was something more like the Kia Stinger........base it on the current (or S650/CD6 platform) for a rear wheel drive 5-door hatch/coupe with a Coyote up front. But, other than the badge on the nose this will share nothing with Mustang. This, for me, is like when Aston Martin did their version of the Toyota IQ and called it the AM Cygnet. A chapter in AM's history they would rather now forget. I hope I'm wrong and I hope I get to eat my words and change my tune once I see it, because as a Mustang fan I don't want to hate anything in the Mustang family.
  10. I know I'm beating a dead horse (geddit?)......but this makes me sick to my stomach. If it has to have a horse, make it a very different looking pony! (as you're clearly a man in the know, anything you can share on the next gen Mustang.......as in the real Mustang, would be appreciated )
  11. Did you have a word with Ford Authority? They're now reporting pretty much exactly that (well, the adoption of DI at least) http://fordauthority.com/2019/08/2021-ford-f-150-will-not-get-4-8l-v8-engine/?fbclid=IwAR0ICIXcb2AfvzkibEfGYIjgQuyPTf4RPQvje0XZg5UhQ6RTR7V7C-GyXBU
  12. Leftlanenews reporting on the Ford Authority report! https://leftlanenews.com/ford/ford-f-150-to-ditch-5-0-v8-for-next-generation/ Personally, if Ford deviate from the 5.0 capacity, I'd rather they upped it to the 5.2!! (a normally aspirated version of the cross plane crank is already available as a crate engine called the Aluminator XS)
  13. Adding a supercharger, plus associated plumbing and cooling and HUGE brakes...........on top of an already heavy car, is it really a surprise?
  14. I know Ford were developing a 4.8 version of the Coyote for the F150, but as I understand it, it was dropped as they hit their MPG/emissions targets with the Gen 3 Coyote/10-speed auto. So, is this back on again? http://fordauthority.com/2019/08/2021-ford-f-150-4-8l-v8-engine-know/
  15. That's a good question! I'm a Mustang enthusiast (fan boy) and would have no intention of buying this car. Teslas don't interest me either. If I wanted or needed a more practical Mustang......well, I wouldn't, I'd have the Mustang as the fun car and another more versatile car as well (actually, I own 2 Mustangs, one garage queen, one daily driver and a Kuga (Escape) for family/dog hauling duties). I don't want my Mustang to be more practical. I like what it stands for as it is. I would imagine the majority of potential Mach E owners will be those cross shopping Teslas and/or other hybrid "SUVs".......but it'll be interesting to see. What will also be interesting to see is if/when a Mach E turns up at a Mustang meet. Or would they? Would a Mach E owner care about the previous 55 years of Mustangs?
  16. '74 was the only year the II was not available with a V8. And there's less Pinto in it than there is Falcon in the '65 I'm not claiming it was a great car. Far from it. But it was as good as most of its peers (although arguably, Pontiac was the only true "muscle car" left in the mid-late 70's with the Firebird/Trans-Am). Anyway, about that Mustang inspired SUV......
  17. Agreed...........and I think that design would have been ideal for Mach E (as a 5-door, obviously).
  18. Interesting article around a new "Icon Group"....... I have a LOT of time for Dave Pericak.. Dave Pericak, director of enterprise product line management – Ford Icons, said during an interview that the Icon product team’s objective, is to maintain the love affair customers already have with iconic vehicles such as Ford Mustang, Bronco and Raptor. “This is a legacy,” Pericak said during a conversation with reporters at the Dream Cruise where he was surrounded by Mustangs. “These vehicles are the face of the Ford Motor Co.” https://www.thedetroitbureau.com/2019/08/ford-readying-for-mustang-inspired-suv-as-it-leans-on-icons/
  19. I'm a big fan of the Mustang II. It was absolutely the right car for the right time. If I recall correctly, the '74 model year is the 3rd bestselling (after '65 & '66) in Mustang's history. Sure, it looks a little goofy now, but 99% of US cars from that era are a far cry from the beauties of the 60's. And, Mustang II was still a sporty rear wheel drive coupe, with a short tail and a long nose and ('74 MY aside) still available with a V8. So, that Mustang DNA was still strong
  20. Whilst I was really hoping the new Mach 1 would be a 5.2 cross plane crank, normally aspirated V8................I wouldn't be against them using the Mach 1 name for the hybrid.........just so long as that's a 5.0 V8 hybrid!
  21. F150 Raptor Ranger Raptor Explorer ST Edge ST Focus RS (we still get it in the UK) Focus ST (ditto) Fiesta ST (ditto) The point is, Ford has a long and proud performance heritage and Mustang is just one part of that. Maybe I'll change my tune when Mach E finally hits the streets. Maybe I'll understand what the Mustang connection is.
  22. Ford (Performance) has plenty of high performance cars...........and they don't seem to need to stick ponies on non-Mustangs
  23. That would work for me (just don't use the Mustang name)..........a 3rd horse would work
  24. I'm with pffan1990.........using the Mustang name and/or pony logo does not sit well with me either. Mach-E shares NOTHING with Mustang in terms of structure/chassis/engines and, more importantly, shares nothing with what Mustang has stood for for 55 years. This, to me, is cynical marketing, latching onto the cool Mustang name just to get people to accept this new vehicle. If it's good enough (and I'm sure it will be) then it would sell regardless of any Mustang "connection".
