  1. Like many, I'm also waiting for an Edge replacement. We want something with style and comfort that doesn't look like a show box on wheels.
  2. I haven't been active here for a while. We've owned 2 Edges and now a Murano and are beginning to look at a replacement. We may go back to a 24 Edge but keep hoping for a hybrid replacement or hybrid addition to the Edge. We don't want to downsize to an Escape and are waiting to hear about something new from Ford to replace the Edge.
  3. I totally agree. The lines will only get longer until many more charging stations come on line. At government expense! And how long will it take for our current electrical infrastructure to be built up to handle the majority of Americans charging their electric cars? What will be the cost? How will that increased electric demand be generated? It's going to be very ugly. I hope the manufacturers keep all options open going forward.
  4. So... what is the replacement for the Edge? I read this morning that the Escape may also be headed to the scrap heap. I'm guessing there is a new all-electric SUV in the works that will fill the Edge-Escape gap. The electric infrastructure has a long way to go to be ready for all-electric vehicles the government is pushing on us. I may order one of the last Edges or Muranos or move to a hybrid like the Venza.
  5. I totally understand and agree. If Ford doesn't offer something comparable to the Edge we will simply go to the competition.
  6. I agree, Copper. The Edge is perfect for us and I hate to see it dropped. Ford has nothing to compare to it.
  7. Is the Edge AWD always on? Does it deliver power only to the front wheels then powers the rear automatically when slippage occurs? Is it switchable on and off? Thanks. Sorry about this post. I did a bit of research and discovered how the Edge AWD system works with rear-wheel disconnect. I guess everything is automatic.

    2022 Edge seats

Thanks for your input. Hopefully, supply will increase over the spring and summer and we can start looking at different vehicles.
  9. Has the Fusion Active been killed?
  10. That would be good news.
  11. The Escape isn't nearly as comfortable as the Edge and we don't need the size of the Explorer. Frustrating but I understand the need to limit vehicle offerings.
  12. Thanks for the update, 92. That's what I was afraid of. Living in a rural area with a full EV will be tough. The next few years will be very interesting.
  13. If I missed any previous discussions I apologize for starting another thread. What is the future of the Edge beyond 2022? I know the push is to electric but I hate to see the Edge or something similar disappear as a segment. We like the comfort and room of a larger 2 row SUV. Any hope for an Edge hybrid to fill the gap before all-electric takes over? I believe we will see a slow down to all-electric in a couple of years when the realization hits that the electricity infrastructure can not handle the majority of vehicles becoming electric.
  14. We're going to begin looking for a new vehicle and will consider the 22 Edge. What do you owners say about how seat comfort compares between the various models? We had a 13 Edge and currently have an 18 Murano. We loved the seats in the Edge and really love the comfort in the Murano. Thanks.
  15. We're going to begin looking for a new vehicle and will consider the 22 Edge. What do you owners say about how seat comfort compares between the various models? We had a 13 Edge and currently have an 18 Murano. We loved the seats in the Edge and really love the comfort in the Murano. Thanks.
  16. I agree, NYT. I really like the Titanium Elite Package. We're looking at a 19 Edge in Burgundy Velvet and the Elite package really dresses it up. Once again we're forced to buy the 301A just to get the Elite package. I hate being manipulated into spending so much more just to get something I want. As has already been posted there are absolutely no statistics that show that everyone that buys the 301A wants the Vista Roof. They are forced into it to get the other features of the 301A just like I am forced to buy the 301A if I want the Elite package. I understand dealers wanting simplicity of inventory for the walk up business. I am willing to order my vehicle as long as the price compares to what's on the lot. With an order why can't I buy just the options I want? In a perfect world I'd get the 301A without the Vista Roof and take that savings and buy the Elite Package. As it stands I'll probably settle for the SEL or go to the competition.
  17. So they removed one of the lower gears? Seems like that would make a bit larger jump than the rest of the gears. I realize 8 will be smoother than 6 but seems like leaving all 9 in would have been better. I remember vinyl seats. Not sure I want to go back. Guess we'll have to try them out. Thanks.
  18. My wife and I plan to buy/order when the potential spring/summer discounts kick in. It's her primary vehicle and she needs to see it, feel it. touch it first. I have a couple of questions for those in the know. We currently have a 13 Edge Limited and really like the leather and the seat comfort. What exactly is the "Active X" material in the SEL and will those seats have the same comfort level as we're used to? I'm excited about the new transmission but generally tend to shy away from first year technology. Any concerns about the new 8 speed? I know it's similar to GM's 9 speed and they're having a few issues. What are the major differences and how did Ford make an 8 out of a 9 speed. Thanks for the help.
  19. This advancement makes a lot of sense. I agree reliability should increase along with fuel economy.
  20. Even the 2.3 would help. I understand production issues for the 2.3 and know that the 2.0 is an overachiever for it's size. My perception and I'm guessing that of many potential buyers is that a 2.0 is pretty small for a vehicle the size of the Edge. I'm also sure many Titanium buyers would opt to pay up for the 2.3 or especially the 2.7. I know I'd much rather pay up for a larger engine than have to pay for an unwanted sun roof! Sorry, that still bothers me.
  21. Thanks for the info, everyone. I really appreciate the update. This is how I imagined the disconnect to work so it all makes sense. Economy should increase a bit and hopefully durability will be as good or better than what Ford currently has. With a 4x4 F150 I'm still trying to justify AWD when we order our 19 Edge. We've always gotten along fine with our FWD 13 Edge. I'm thinking there are many that pay for AWD that really don't need it but I know it is great insurance for the few times some really do need it.
  22. I believe some of the competition works similar to this. I would think this should help fuel economy. Thanks for the info.
  23. Could someone in the know please explain how the 19 Edge AWD differs from what was used in the past? Does it truly disconnect and will the mileage penalty for AWD be decreased? We have a 13 Edge FWD and have stayed away from AWD because of the cost and mileage penalty. We have a 4X4 F150 for the bad times.
  24. How does the 19 Edge AWD differ from what was used in the past? Does the driver actually disconnect the AWD or does that happen automatically when it isn't needed? Will this lessen the mileage drag for AWD? We have a 13 Edge FWD and have stayed away from AWD due to the cost and mileage penalty. We have a 4X4 F150 when things get really bad.
  25. I was hoping to have the 2.3 EB as an option to the 2.0 in the 19 Edge. I know the current 2.0 performs better than the 13 version when I opted for the 3.5 in my Edge. I would think Edge Titanium buyers would jump on the 2.3. For those in the know, any idea why Ford chose to keep the 2.3 out of the Edge?
