  1. akirby: My tow/haul green light always seems to come on when I plug in the electrical connector of my car hauler (about 4,200 lbs). I also get a notice that trailer is detected and cross traffic alert is disactivated. It seems to me that if tow/haul were activated by something more than the electrical connection, I wouldn't think it would come on just because I plugged in the electrical connection. It might be that it comes on automatically if the trailer connected has brakes. Bored: Check your trailer electrical connection. The plug might not be seated properly. Mine always goes into tow/haul mode when I plug it in. Now if I could just get the 12v aux line to work. It never does.
  2. Congrats on the buy. We love ours. 360 camera is a low speed thing only. Have not tried AM, but have had good experience streaming radio stations from my phone for better reception on FM. Not sure about the door code.
  3. akirby: That is exactly what I would like, but the Navi only has Normal and Excite drive modes. I'm not fully sure what Excite does, but I know that it affects shifting and I suspect it creates fake engine noise, neither of which I want.
  4. My view is that the ride in town on rougher roads is too soft so the truck bounces excessively. Sport mode makes the ride better, but then you have the transmission acting aggressively. I would love the option just to stiffen the suspension for in town driving without changing the transmission programming. On the highway, on the other hand, the ride is superb in normal mode. Really amazing.
  5. Have not talked to the dealer yet. I am trying to see if there is something I am missing.
  6. 2018 Navigator. Sometimes the liftgate will not close with a push of either button. It give one beep when you push the button, but no movement. After you push it closed, everything goes back to normal. Likely to happen if the liftgate is left open for a long time. Didn't see anything in the manual about this. Anyone else experience this?
  7. Mine is a short 4X2. I use it to tow a race car on an open trailer so I use the back for cargo frequently. So, I got it without the back console. Plus, our kids are grown; nobody would use it. Did a trip across Texas yesterday doing 85 for a good bit and 70-80 in other parts. Overall mileage was 20.3.
  8. Highly speed dependent. At 70, it is about 23. At 80, it is 20.
  9. That is what I thought I wanted, but last July at least there wasn't nearly that much difference in price. Anyway, the Navigator has a much nicer interior and I value the head up display which the Ford does not have. As to the question, I would not hesitate to buy one again. Mine has been very reliable with one loose wire connector as my only warranty issue. I am very pleased with the truck, but I admit that I don't drive it much in town.
  10. Isn't the second row console standard in the Reserve and not available in Select?
  11. My experience is that a dealership pushes the sales folks to do this. In my case for my Lincoln purchase, it continued throughout the experience dealing with two different finance people. It's the endless "you have to buy this" that I find offensive. Offer that I can consider tire insurance or whatever, sure. "It's already on the car." Awful.
  12. I am really aware of how dealers try to add things on, but I expect more from a dealer selling a high end vehicle, like not insisting that I have to buy an add on. The contrast between my treatment at the Lincoln dealer and the Lexus dealer down the street was stunning. My prior experiences with BMW and Porsche dealerships were also in stark contrast. It was much more similar (but not as bad) as my visit to the sleezy misleading Hyundai dealer when I was helping my daughter buy a car.
  13. C130: I bought from West Point, but it was a terrible experience. I found the one I wanted at a dealership in Dallas. They got it for me, but then tried to charge me $500 as a transfer fee. That is not, however, why I think that they are terrible. They push add ons at every moment, including a etching package they add without requesting it. Nothing remotely like what I expect from a luxury car dealer.
  14. I had decided to buy an Expedition, but there were very few Platinum trims available when we were looking so we decided to drop by the Lincoln dealer to see just how much more a Navigator was. Things that influenced our decision were: Select trim wasn't that much more, HUD, 30 way seats (easily worth the money), shifters on the steering wheel for those mountain visits, bigger center screen, and nicer interior. We would have been happy if we bought the Ford, but the HUD and seats alone make it easy for me to justify. I know you're struggling with styling, but there are enough functional differences to matter apart from styling (in my opinion, obviously).
  15. That bolt is the drain plug. The beam is the front anti sway bar. I do not recall the size of the drain plug.
  16. There is no much room behind the third row in the standard length. You could use a cargo box, but the vehicle is quite tall. Reaching it could be difficult.
  17. An update. Both my printed manual and the online version I downloaded when I bought the vehicle don't describe a method for turning off the interior motion sensors. When I emailed Lincoln, the response was that you could not turn the motion sensors off, but perhaps my dealer knew of a "trick" to do so. After akirky's comment, I looked online for the manual again and, sure enough, there is a new version with the content he described. There is, in fact, an option to turn the interior motion sensors off in settings in the speedo display using the steering wheel controls. Thanks for the help that I did not get from Lincoln.
  18. akirky: I agree that it is helpful to look at the manual, but only if you look at the right manual. That isn't there in mine (p.85 deals with adjusting the steering wheel). This is everything it says about the alarm system (on page 82): ANTI-THEFT ALARM The system will warn you of an unauthorized entry to your vehicle. It will be triggered if any door, the luggage compartment or the hood is opened without using the key, remote control or keyless entry keypad. The direction indicators will flash and the horn will sound if unauthorized entry is attempted while the alarm is armed. Take all remote controls to an authorized dealer if there is any potential alarm problem with your vehicle. Arming the Alarm The alarm is ready to arm when there is not a key in your vehicle. Electronically lock your vehicle to arm the alarm. Disarming the Alarm Disarm the alarm by any of the following actions: • Unlock the doors or luggage compartment with the remote control or keyless entry keypad. • Switch your vehicle on or start your vehicle. • Use a key in the driver door to unlock your vehicle, then switch your vehicle on within 12 seconds. Note: Pressing the panic button on the remote control will stop the horn and signal indicators, but will not disarm the system. 82
  19. We travel with our dogs. When we leave them in the, they trigger the motion detector and set off the alarm. I asked Lincoln; they said the was no switch to deactivate the motion detectors, but suggested I speak with Lincoln about disabling them. Any suggestions?
  20. I bought a Lloyd Mats carpet liner for the area behind the second row. I did a lousy job matching colors, but it is a quality piece. It does not fold so you have to take it out if you want to use the third row. Something that would fold would be great. Please post if you find something that does.
  21. My peaking under the skirt suggests to me that it has a dual exhaust. I believe the brochure says it does as well.
  22. Ford says the engine makes 411hp when running on regular, so an 8.7% loss. I have not seen a torque figure. Is there any detriment to running an engine with retarded timing other than the loss of power?
  23. But I like bells and whistles! You're right, of course.
  24. I bought a 2018 in July with plans to tow. Finding one with the tow package was pretty hard compared to finding one without it. My sense is that not too many people plan to tow with this truck because dealers were not ordering many with the tow package. so, for resale, who knows? For 2018 anyway, the package was an eLSD, bigger radiator, backup assist, brake controller, and two speed transfer case. No extra cooling for the transmission, I believe.
