New Light & Medium Duty News
Bob Rosadini replied to Joe771476's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Agree on "factory ..light pickup". That GMC that 7M posted is a beauty in any case..says 3/4 ton but it looks heavier than that. If you want to see something interesting go to ..Americanheritagemuseum.org This is an unbelieveable museum nearby in Hudson/Stow Ma. Click on "exhibits" and then "WWI Trench Experience". After you go in the main entrance, this is the first exhibit/show you will see-you have the option of being in that trench or viewing from an upper balcony. But it is a "show" and you are then listening to the shelling etc. Not something you would take a 5 yr old to see. Note it identifies the ambulance as a Model T..which I thought was the predominant WWI ambulance. -

7M, When that became official the export market must have been booming? Even with our winter time salt conditions that raise hell on vehicles there are still a ton of pre 2011's on the road.I had commercial plates on my B-61x...1956..up until two years ago. Registered for 35,000 lbs. Only issue I ever had was suddenly on my plate renewal they asked for a DOT number. I had a battle over that as I was not a business, I just happened to have a big truck that I used to maintain my property, my kids property, charity work at fairgrounds etc. Finally got in touch with a live person at DOT in DC and his attitude was..."we have told these state agencies we don't want the system cluttered with guys like you". He put me in touch with the right Fed DOT guy in Mass. and in turn I passed info to my rep in State Legislature and suddenly my renewal showed up. When I switched to Antique plates, I got insurance through Hagerty saving about $1000 in insurance and about another $1000 in registration costs. Do miss the sound of the turbo though when its loaded😎 Think I may sell it and put the money in my 68 Bronco. -

Amazing that there are idiots out there that think in this day and age they could get away with something like this. Plenty of LTL's still working up here-and most of them look like show trucks! -
'25 1st Quarter Sales Results
Bob Rosadini replied to ANTAUS's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Well I finally took the time to read the order guide. A 25,999 downrated plate is available WHEN the GVR is rated for MORE than 26,000 lbs. In other words you pay for a heavier specs but can't register for the weights the specs support. Obvious benefit? NO CDL required plus you avoid the 12% FET Also, you can get a 33,000 lb plate with a Higher rated chassis as long as you dont spec a 43P front axle -12,000lb with a 47X rear-26,000 for a 38,000 total But you can get a 33,000 lb plate when you spec a 14,000 pd front with a 23,000 lb rear for a 37,000 lb rating assuming proper tire ratings This means you can get a class 8 750! but it is listd as a class 7. so in both cases you have a capable truck of handling more than the factory plate but you are taking your chances of an overweight fine if caught😎 -

JP, actually the commercial truck guy at my dealership has told me that 600 has robbed from 550-that was probably almost a year ago. I guess the attraction was 4WD in a 600 at 22,000 GVW and a "friendlier " truck for the inexperienced driver to handle vs high hood of a 650. As for 750's this guy stocks mostly 750's with derated plates-26,000 gvw. Trucks look heavy with high rated big rubber-no clue if they are 10/23 axles but one thing they do is avoid a cdl driver and the FET tax for a 33,000 gvw. Probably should spend some time and go through the order guide instead of guessing. -
Lincoln has another new President

Lot of truth in that..look at the 2010-19 SHO? I had one great car..can say that I never saw a separate add of any type. In 2020 (?) I had like 120,000 trouble free miles on it and sold it to a relative-who still has it. But before that I started looking for a CPO 2018-19 SHO. Nothing here in Northeast Then someone on this site suggested I look for a Fusion Sport or a 3.0 MKZ..Found a CPO 3.0, never knew anything about it ....Then I start reading all these online posts about what an unbelievable vehicle this 400HP AWD was..a true sleeper! Agree..another example of a vehicle ignored by Ford marketers. Last year I bought an extended Ford warranty package and I'll never hit it..in part because I love driving my Coyote 150. But my sons can decide what to do with it someday😎 -

Ranger Super Duty Revealed
Bob Rosadini replied to DeluxeStang's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Seems to me I did see an earlier version that did not have the snorkel-which to me was always used for vehicles that might be "Fording"😀...But would it help with dust ? Seems like it would to some degree as long as you are the first vehicle kicking up dust. As for dust, what about a "pre cleaner" someplace that provides quick access so you could routinely and easily blow it out with air or water. For sure a bigger problem for our Aussie friends than us. If it comes to the US, make it a smaller size package-super cab or conventional cab that capitalizes on its towing capabilities as well as GVW appealing to commercial/ag markets. Forget about the "look at me crowd"..let them buy the aftermarket crap on their own. -

Well I hope he looks at Tahoe, Escalade and the GMC versions with their crisp looks instead of the current "chunky"-can't think of a better word-look then they currently have. this guy came from Riviana? If so look at the Rivian SUV too..also much better IMO than the Lincoln versions. -

How does it run. regardless of what you are hearing? -
For sure..he has to understand that..although at times he says stuff and I scratch my head. Key question how many Ford/GM/Stellantis plants are running at capacity? But again, IMO key point that is never mentioned is just how did we lose so many manufacturing jobs? Everytime I hear a CEO or owner explain why he outsourced his manufacturing operation, it is the same thing... "I could not compete with my competitors who outsourced oversees- I had to follow suit as I could not compete with my labor costs, governmental compliance issues etc. Of course before the election Shawn Fain, head of UAW could not stand Trump and vice versa. Now they are sharing the same Kool-Aid. We will see how long that lasts. To say nothing of the fact that to make the economics work, more automation can be justified as well as more streamlining of the option list I would imagine. Fain really won big with his John Deere contract. Only one problem with that. Every day I read about a new Chinese entity entering the construction equipment market in this country. Hope the Deere workers enjoy their new package while they can.

And that is my point. The fired up nut jobs turn out at primaries and too many don't pay attention and they stay home. Trump didn't have the stones to debate Haley..he figured he didn't have to. And he was running against the weakest ticket ever. He got a lot of Dems and Independent votes, not as votes for him, but as votes against two clueless people. Too many people stayed home instead of voting in the primaries.
-
I'm all for the two party system. If there is a lesson in this, it speaks to the benefits of the primary system IMO. Not enough people pay attention to the primaries. A good primary system should produce a consensus for both sides. IMO Haley was a home run...grew up in a working family and was involved in her family business. Did a good job as a governor, and in my opinion I would take a governor any day over someone who served in congress...governors are like CEOs and have to make a system run. Stood her ground in the UN. She would have killed Trump in a debate, but I think he recognized that. And if nothing else she would carry the female and minority vote. I voted for Trump three times as the lesser of two evils and clearly there was no doubt that this time so did a lot of Dems and Independents IMO.

Ford Recall Troubles

So after repeated "sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't" I guess I'll have to take it to dealer. Speaking of system updates, I assume you don't get a message when these are done? -
To your point, long front page story in WSJ yesterday..."Corporate Elation Over Trump Gives Way to Distress"....."CEOs and investors fret over what they see as whipsaw policy and complacency about risks of recession". I guess Trump's style may have worked when he was dealing with his own empire. Now when you are dealing with a huge economy where so many are responsibile for huge entities that need to know where they stand, like Ford from a reasonably long term perspective, a different story. From my personal perspective, I'm faced with decisions to satisfy my RMD. I would like to feel comfortable that what I'm selling now to satisfy that objective is based on some reasonable assumptions.

New Light & Medium Duty News

Joe, My bet is those 750's are gas powered jobs meant for light duty plow work-intersections, ramps, parking areas or maintenance work-just like Mass DOT that has similar 750s. Biggest reason Ford gets these orders I would bet is they are far cheaper than any F'liner or International as up until now at Ford offers the only gas engine in a class 6 or 7 conventional cab. With the release of the 6.7 Cummins gas engine that has changed, although I would have to believe that it will be a more costly option than a 7.3 powered 650/750 . But some agencies might be willing to pay the premium for that engine for the sake of fleet commonality given the class 8 trucks in their fleet. While I don't know what the 7.3's torque curves are, the Cummins gas engine does put out significant torque at lower RPM. That capability might justify its premium over a 7.3. Also as long as Ford refuses to offer air brakes in a gas powered 650/750 that will be another benefit the Cummins provides in a class 6, 7 truck. -

Hah How true on the Renault connection. As for your railroad days, talk about consolidation. As a bit of a buff I remember the Alco, FairbanksMorse,GE, EMD days. When I was in college my winter/"spring" breaks were spent working in a wholesale beef plant. We got swinging beef delivered by truck and rail. NY, NH & Hartford RR. RS-1 Alcos. Green & Orange! -

I'm used to seeing an occasional UPS F-650 during my trips on I 495 which is the outer most beltway around Boston but the other day I saw 4. At least one was new as instead of old school mirrors it had the large "aero" mirrors supported by one lower mounting arm. -

Jim Farley recently issued a statement on the likely need for consolidations throughout the industry. He also made this statement; “And it’ll be cascaded by region. I think that’s pretty easy to see. I think the more likely scenario is partnerships. We learned a lot from Volkswagen. After 120 years, we have a lot of partnerships. Ford Otosan has been one of the stellar partnerships we’ve had. We’ve learned a lot about what works and doesn’t on partnerships.” First time I've ever heard Farley or anyone at Dearborn make a statement that Ford Otosan exists! -

7M, I remember whenCummins announced those V6/V8 engines in the 60's. The code word for these was Vim and Val-not sure which was the 6 or the 8. I did not think they ever were offered in a Ford as that article implies. And for sure I don't think they had any relationship to the later V-8 midrange Cummins which I believe initially were offered at 210 HP and 220 Hp and then they "morphed" into the 555..Triple Nickel. We had a lot of the 210's in White 9000 single axle tractors and Mack steel nose DM's that met NYC specs ..3000 gal steel tanks. When I became my region's vehicle staff guy I replaced the Whites with Louisvilles-LN-9000's. 6-71's at 238 HP and Rt-910 RR. The drivers loved the change. I think I paid under $20,000 for those- I think 1972-73...Hard to believe. -
Ford Recall Troubles

Update I did disconnect BMS and next morning I had interior and dash lights but short lived- doing it again. Made an appointment for Monday, but just had to cancel. But interesting, truck went into service 9/23, currently has 12,500 miles. When I called to make appointment, "service person" says, " I'll have to check if it's covered by warranty" at which point I said "are you kidding? with all the publicity Ford gets on software issues and you are telling me you have to check on warranty for a vehicle with 12,000 miles and 16 mos in service?" She confirmed it was. this morning when i got in it, no lights. Drove it about 8-10 miles today and went out to confirm mileage..lights worked🤔 -

Which was a complete flop I do believe. As were the small V-8 diesels. They had the sense however to pull the plug on them before they alienated too many customers.
