  1. Curious why they think this is a Merc? It could just be a Freestyle freshening with jewel taillamps (a la Fusion).
  2. Find out who Ford's ad agency is (I used to know, but forgot)...a simple google search will bring it up. Find a phone number and call them, don't rely on email...they will just read it and if they like it...they'll use it and not give you any credit. TALK to someone.
  3. Doesn't Pontiac already make that?
  4. I don't think anyone is denying those commericals were horrid as well. Not many standouts this year.....
  5. Quick retro, delete your post and contact an ad agency.
  6. If it helps, my wife (who has a divorce under her belt) was the one who pointed the commerical out to me. She thought it was tacky and took away from the commerical. The commercial would have been just as effective (actually more) had they left out the last 5 seconds. Of course, I think the dumbest one currently is the Jeep Compass "Bobblehead" commericals. Ugh. One of the commericals I do like is for ther Range Rover Sport going underground in Tokyo. They've been showing that one for at least 2 years and I don't get sick of it. My wife decided she wanted to check one out based on that commerical. (Ouch! My wallet! Sorry hon, ain't gonna happen....)
  7. That was exactly the point I was trying to make.
  8. We saw that the other night during the playoffs.....I thought the Katrina and WTC images were a bit much. I even commented during the commercial that it was little ridiculous for a truck commercial. Regarding Ford commercials (in the thread title). I think the absolute worst Ford commercial I've EVER seen is the one for the Freestyle when the family is having a good time together on a mini vacation....and then at the end they drop off the father and he says "Thanks for inviting me this weekend". What the heck was the point of that? Why ruin a perfectly good commercial with such a downer? I know there's a lot of divorced families out there, but jeez...another thing that has no place in a car commercial.
  9. I think that assuming a $38K price tag was the first mistake as well. Betcha it tops out at $32K US.
  10. How about sharing for us non-subscribers?
  11. It really could be either the 500 or Montego. Can't really tell by the taillights anymore, because the look similar in style to the Fusion's in that picture.
  12. I must be in the minority. I use my e-brake on all my vehicles every time I park. ...and I have automatics! As for the Mariner. Not too sure I like it. Very busy styling up front, way too many things going on. The small vertical bars in the grille right over a lonely small horizontal bar whose only job is to make the empty area look smaller. All of this mass right over the gargantuan lower air intake. The headlights look...odd. The driving lights look like they were not made for this vehicle. The rear-end is also a clutter of design,. The indent in the tailgate doesn't line up with the taillights, but rather with the license plate indent which looks a bit awkward. I'm not sure what the purpose of this indent is for since it is not repeated anywhere else on the vehicle. The interior is nice. But the center IP controls are confusing. Too many black buttons that all look alike. Perhaps if the HVAC controls had different color writing on them or something to differentiate them from the other controls. Also, like the Mazda 3, I've never been a fan of putting the display unit for the radio in a different place. Sure it gives more room on the stack for controls, but it is not natural for the driver to look at one place for the buttons and another to see what pressing them does. All in all, a thorough freshening. Just not my tastes (judging by these few pictures)...I'll hold off on any further judgment until I see one in person though. Too many cars nowadays look horrid in pictures and great in person.
  13. I'm curious what problems they've had exactly. If 6 out of 6 people are having brake and transmission problems, that's an astounding 100% (using your cross sampling). I run an LX site with almost 9,000 members and I don't see a plethora of brake or trans problems (or major problems as a whole). I'm curious what your friend's problems were so I can share them. Please also let me know the year, model and engine of each of the 6 affected vehicles. Thanks.
  14. I believe the 4.7L is a truck only engine.
  15. Hyundai actually already has a RWD V8 sedan coming out here in the US in a year or two. Say all you want about them, they do not sit on their laurels.
  16. Take a new one for a drive, let us know.
  17. I like it alot. The spy shots did not do it justice.... lots of nice details and great IP. I actually like the front end. Very no-nonsense.
  18. I admire the work put into designing the coupe, but it looks a bit misproportioned to me. Too much body between the door and the rear wheel-well. I miss the 3 door hatch, I was never really a coupe fan. I am a slave to utility..
  19. I understood what you were getting at. Unfortunately, it seems every last word that is spoken seems to be overanalyzed these days.
  20. I did not find Richard's remarks racist at all. I think he was just being PC. A bit Ford-biased in not mentioning any other company's marketing tactics? Yes (but then again, what is the name of this website?). Racist? No.
  21. From what I have read, this is not based on Galant platform, but actually on a modified Caliber/Patriot/Compass platform. From Allpar:
  22. If you think that is shameless and clueless, CLICK HERE. I've seen Ford Fusion commericals with Funkmaster Flex targeted towards Hip Hop listeners with only "Ethnic" (as you put it so eloquently) actors in it. Targeted advertising has been around since TV began. Its a bit absurd to think Chrysler is the only company that targets advertising. I guess the Fusion is going down the tubes now? C'mon Richard.
