Wow, 940 production. And all of them with '95 or earlier seniority..that's gonna be a shitload of fun, trying to work bare bones like that, 5 10's and Saturdays..most everyone in their 40's at least..hoo boy. Better stock up on your BenGay, ibuprofen and Gold Bond..gonna get real old, real fast. I'll be laid off, probably get called back to cover AWOLS. I also have July '96.

Maybe if you would have supported Ford, and not bought a GM truck, you wouldn't be getting laid off.As for your theory on 5 10s and Saturdays, get real, you think once the second shift is gone sales are going to miraculously improve?Sales have peaked and its a down hill ride from here.Oh and by the way I'm 35 and I know I can do anything you can and better. :stirpot:

Hey Paymaster! I work in Chassis, and we were told that all the vehicles that we are building now have alread been sold. So you are saying that they are just bulding a bank of extras? That doesn't surprise me at all. And did anyone mention that when we voted on the 4 10's (which would have been pushed through anyway) that we were really going to work 5 10's and Sats. So the people who thought they would be getting an extra day off for the weekend got hoodwinked like the rest of us. I have July of 96 seniority also, and who knows maybe we will get to a better place than MTP. I have personally worked my butt off most of the time I have been here and no AWOL's, medicals' or restrictions.

4-10's is set up when you have 8.5 or less of your production needs. If production goes up, you then work, 5 10's. Now if you are going to one shift, you probably will work 5-10's for a while, but you should see some 4-10's during slow times. Good luck. We have used the 4-10's for the last 2 years and its great. 3 and 4 day weekends. Love it. 40 hours is 40 hours.

One more thing to think about. A lot of the people who are staying probably have not done real jobs in years. Yeah, it will be back to the line and work like the rest of us. I wish I could be a fly on the wall so I could see what is going on. Hopefully, someone will be posting here. I figure that I will be over at Wayne Assy. But it might be a while before that move is completed. Plus we have the flowbacks from Wixon.

When Wixom went one shift the average age on the line was 55 and they made it, I will admit we had some that literally died at home after work, parking lot coming to work, heart attacks and strokes it was sad. I dont wish anyone who had been off the line for any length of time to go back to it. It was hard for many when this happened. But cars/trucks will be made with or with out us.

Wixom laid off their TFT's has this happened at other plants?

I was told by a union rep. that MTP would be sending some of their tft's to Wayne Assy. I understand the COA is going to be passed there also. So the tfts can do for Wayne Assy what they did for MTP.

If you knew as much as you seem to think about me, you'd know I have a 2004 Ford that I bought brand new here in the garage, so there, na naa na na naaa. My GM pickup is still American, union built..which is more than I can say for all the Hecho en Mexico Fusions, Foci, Milans, etc. that fill the MTP parking lot.

My "theory" is based on past history, and the likelyhood of future performance (haha, stock market lingo). When MTP lost a shift in 1980 (and no, @ age 32, I wasn't there), the one shift worked OT. When MTP lost a shift in 2001, the 2 shifts worked OT. Now, after April, 1 shift. 1 shift, means there's no room to "make up" production losses on the other shift. Unless sales REALLY take a nose dive, and stay that way, MTP's lone shift will be working OT.

Oh, and if you are so much more capable in all things than I am, why exactly is it you're still working at MTP?

Oh snap! My wife and I have bought 4 new Fords, and I've helped others with X plan PIN's buy 2 more, in the time I've worked for Ford. How many do I have to buy to be considered as "supporting Ford"?

Maybe If the local Ford dealers would have offered me an F150 with the options (or lack thereof) that I wanted, I'd be driving a Ford now.

Hey sonny, I am in my fifties, work in trim, do not miss any time, and have July 96 seniority. You do the math. I have a job nobody wants, or will do, just trying to get my time in. I am tired of 20. 30 and 40 somethings walking around doing nothing and complaining about it. It is amazing the amount of younger people that have not ever had to do a job. I believe that there will be some soreness from these older folks coming back to the line, but where did they work in the plant before the Expy? Do not think that the work will not get done. I am willing to bet that Awols' and medical calls will go down after a small amount of break in time. Remember, we are running many extra vehicles now, so as to break in the personnel going to the line on one shift slowly, as in 96.

That's great that you're still busting your ass at your age..keeps you young! Get your time in, great. There are exceptions to every rule, and MTP has lots of people in their 40's and 50's working the line..but MOST of them don't want to do that for 5 10's, and most of them have more than July 96 seniority. Ford is COUNTING on this...they want people to fall out, to start missing time because the schedule is taking a toll on their no longer 20 or 30 something bodies. Like I said...mother nature and father time doing their dirty work, and Ford doing theirs with 1 shift OT and the new and improved attendance policy..it should be a real hoot.

I personally know 'Sherlock' and I know he won't respond to this because he is a very modest person. He attempted to take the buyout but was asked to stay to institute Ford's new "Diabolical Indicator Program" at MTP, then I believe he will move on to the glass house. Just speculation on movin' on up. Don't quote me on that. We'll have to wait and see. Be nice to 'Sherlock' this future of Ford depends on the success he has here.

How do you explain your purchase of a GM truck to your family, friends and neighbors when they know you work at Ford?By your decision you have shit on Ford's best seller. Please don't try and justify it by saying, Ford didn't have what I want.Enough said on that subject,as for the"future performance" of MTP you would have to agree, the circumstances we are in are much different today than past history.I'm not being a pessimist,I try and look at things as a realist.Oh,and the reason I'm still at MTP is,I haven't fully implemented the"Diabolical Indicator Program" or DIP for short. :hysterical:

Since you mentioned my family, there is no justification required. My father in law is a GM employee, and his GM income paid for my wife's college education, which in turn made possible HER employment. Her income has made going through the trouble at MTP easier for us. So, our Ford here supported my job, and my GM supported my family. My neighbors, I don't talk to and I really don't give a damn what they think about what I wear or what I drive..as long as they keep that stupid dog from shitting in my yard I'm happy.

My purchase decisions, vehicle wise, have been overwhelmingly Ford over the time I've worked there, and I have a VERY hard time believing that the problems of an international multi billion dollar corporation are due to the pickup truck I drive.

Heard from Darryl betweeen Jan,03 and Jan,17 ,95 is cut off. Depends on if relief comes back or not.

well October is here and not only is the fitness center still open but he negotiated tag relief back into the plant. Do you have anything else you would like to question the Union on????
