J-150
why would they? OAC is already setup to make it. If anywhere, they would move it to Mexico.

I heard from the farmer up the road that LAP was closing. Mind you he makes a good profit selling bullshit. Sounds like your Lear buddy is in the same business. Furious1Auto
I also heard a simular rumor that Ford was considering build the Fusion overflow in the U.S. I think it's just wishful thinking though! It's definatly not a smart business move! Edited May 19, 2007 by Furious1Auto

I'm not surprised, I'm sure the quality would be much better plus there would be less chance of production loses due to work stoppages.. this would be a smart move.... twintornados
Well....one thing to ponder is with all these plants that are closed or closing...if Ford needed some extra capacity for say, Fusion, or the as yet un-named B-segment car, plants like Wixom could easily be re-activated since they already own it and have used outside contractors in the past for plant upgrades. OAC could be building Fusions within a few months. The infrastructure is already there, as it shares the same platform as the Edge. My logic would have Mexico and OAC both building Edges and Fusions. Just think of the savings in duties and shipping costs.
OAC_Sparky
Then it would make more sense to build the Fusions alongside the Mazda6 at the AAI plant. It would, but they'd need a new home for the Mustang to free up the capacity.
J-150
It would, but they'd need a new home for the Mustang to free up the capacity. Mustang should go to STAP with the other V8, RWD products.

lapsergio
LAP will be getting a new product, not the Edge or anything else currently being built in the U.S.
LapQuality
:happy feet: LAP will be getting a new product, not the Edge or anything else currently being built in the U.S. :happy feet: louisville WILL be the new home of the FORD EDGE
chassisgrunt
:happy feet: :happy feet: louisville WILL be the new home of the FORD EDGE that would be great for LAP, but no...it won't. the edge already has a good home.
