I had the chance today to get up close and personal with the Flex IP and noticed that on the top, In the center there will be some type of add on. Not on all instrument panels, Just ones with certain trim levels. (you can see the shape of the area that it will be at on the FordVehicles site for the upcoming 09 Flex) \__/ Ive worked building Ford IP's for for some time now, The foam that this Flex panel has (its not a molded in color hard IP.) , Is the softest I have EVER felt. It obviously is a prototype part so the density may be off, But if it feels like that in production form.. :shades: Spyshots? Anyone? Ive looked on other topics but have'nt found any yet. If it's like what I think you're describing, it would be similar to what has been seen on the topside of the dash in the MKS spy photos. You're certainly the first person I've heard to say THAT. The design has gotten pretty good reviews in the Escape and Focus...the Flex is another step above those from what I can see.
