  1. i took my other vehicle into the tranny shop to have it looked at and i mentioned how my ford is a taurus x with the 6 speed and that its similar to the old freestyle. the tranny shop guy said the freestyle CVTs were a problem tranny. 60k and bam. one municipality locally had bought several as xity fleet vehicles and they had issues with almost all of them. now, it wasnt my first hand info but it does make me wonder why freestyles are so inexpensive on the used market.
  2. wow. naive, uneducated, and insulting post. no concept of how brutal some markets have been decimated by the banking debacle and such.
  3. i am superjealous myself. congrats! i wish i could order up an 010 to add to my SHO history (89, 99)
  4. my 89 sho was the most fun car i've had. unfortunately the clutches were a problem. the engine itself was bulletproof. my 99 v8 sho made 75k miles with no problem. my brother in law had close to 150k on his 96 v8 sho when he gave it to his nephew, his cams never went. i wonder how much the cam issue was overblown.
  5. having driven an 09 TDI DSG, you can have it. this from the son of a one time diesel mechanic and owner of GM diesels yore (functioning). i'm pretty convinced now diesel has no chance. its great for VW to offer theirs, but honestly seeing gas at 1.56 and diesel 2.79 at the same pump the other day, there is ZIPPO case for diesel in this country if that price disparity continues. E85 is even a better deal now. you drive a diesel TDI vs any of the gas models, its hard to leave the VW showroom with a TDI. and VW's gas motors aren't all peaches and cream.
  6. especially right now as congress decides whether to kill the US auto industry or not.
  7. we love our 08 Taurus X eddie Bauer. drives like a sedan, not so large like the GM lambdas or a minivan. i would say the only thing it really lacks is some cargo room and utility, but 95% of the time its no issue. overall, the best vehicle we've ever had, inclusive of the 06 five hundred which itself was exceptional.
  8. whoa. i saw the words 'toyota' and 'recall' in the same sentence and it just seemed fitting. carry on.
  9. me and the taurus x in my garage would disagree. its pretty darn close to a perfect family vehicle.
  10. because its worth 10g when you drive it off the lot?
  11. all it does is make up for being overpriced to begin with
  12. s80- badly done s60-old c30-overpriced xc90-old and sucks gas and has no cargo capacity any questions?
  13. G8 is an awesome car, congrats! bluetooth is 'late availability' for 09.
  14. OMG i would LOVE an 09 Sable Voga. love that interior trim package.
  15. generally 18.5 in suburban stop and go...sometimes approaches 20. trips pretty consistent at 22-22.5. one leg i had achieved close to 24.5, but that was an anomoly. i am convinced the FWD version would get about 15% better highway mileage. I could see 25+ on the highway with the right conditions being extremely doable. the handling and composure are great for this type fo vehicle. it feels like a large sedan. to be truthful, cargo capacity is lacking and i knew that it would be, compared to a minivan...in return the vehicle does not feel like a behemoth on the road. sync is awesome. i have a 320gb hdd hooked up to it and it functions beautifully. more as i go on....
  16. i bought a used taurus x a couple weeks ago. i wanted to potentially lease new, but there are no leasing deals like there was before. i couldn't afford the new even with big incentives because the MSRP's are outrageously too high. edge, flex, taurus, tarus x, with any level of equipment, even with incentives, is way too high. the manuf's need to adjust MSRP and bring back leasing if they want to move units in this challenging time. in the meantime, the used car sales are through the roof. the dealer i bought from said they had best month ever and values on many models used are going up because people won't foot or can't foot for new.
  17. i've seen a couple on the road now and they don't do anything for me. it looks like a larger MX-6 with 2 rear doors. taurus gets 18/29, better mpg than the 6 can't even have the v6 6 with a stick
  18. will try to update folks on the vehicle soon. i love it! I do need to learn Sync though! will take some study....... short cruise this evening netted an 18.2 avg........with much stop and go and waiting in 3 drive thrus for food......
  19. i sat in an MKS today for the first time....to be honest I liked it a lot. its COMFY and i liked all the materials and the design. the leather, i wanted to lick it it smelled so good and felt soooo comfy. the exterior looks are growing on me also. very sharp car!
  20. hmmm, i just got an 08 Taurus X today. I guess I am not a consumer.
  21. bought a lightly used 08 Taurus X today....pick it up tomorrow. Love that car! Black Eddie Bauer.....camel interior. Will let you know more once I get some seat time.....can't wait to see the kid in the third row!
  22. i would think more people would want a 4 door car with some cargo capacity and nice styling instead of say, a 2 door pony car.
  23. i've been shopping, i couldn't believe the insurance quote i got for the flex today vs. the taurus and taurus X......and edge.....much higher.........one thing to consider if you are shopping ..........
  24. its dumb at this point for ford to expect to be able to sell any of their products without sync in them now.
  25. prior to today i had only seen montone Flex. Today i sat in a red/white roof Limited. i now believe the white roof is mandatory. and the leather interior is worlds better than the cloth.
