GreyPony
Winding Road I would like to know what he would look like if he were driving a Chinese made automobile? My second question is, I wonder where the faulty sensors were made, in China?

PowerbyFord
Me thinks we will see an example of Darwin's Theory pretty soon. Yeah really. Maybe they don't have irony in China, that being in a Mercedes with faulty airbags was still better that a Chery with working airbags. He should be glad he was in a Mercedes so he could live to complain about it. If it was a Chery his nurses would have had to hold up his banner and he'd have to scrawl his complaints on a little slate because he couldn't talk with the feeding tube down his throat. What a putz. kevinb120
No details on the accident? Looks like he drove it under something as the lower facia is perfectly intact. Front end damage=his fault. Maybe he should learn to crash into things properly. If you wedge the car under something without hitting the bumper, airbags won't go off, no side impact either to trip the SRS. " where he vowed to only use goods made in China for the rest of his life " Don't know about cars, but he can definitely shop at Wal Mart for everything else and be safe there.... Someone photoshop 'all your base are belong to us' on the banner please..... Edited February 2, 2008 by kevinb120
01FOCI
I have to agree with the statement that the front is still intact, however SRS sensors respond to G forces not actual crush damage like say pushing a button. That said the impact was absorbed by the hood and the top of the windshield. Being that a car going under a tractor trailer usually results in the top being totally mashed in it would be fair to asses that he was able to reduce his speed sufficiently before rear ending the truck that the G - forces endured where obviously not enough to trigger the bags. An inspection of the seat belt pre-tensioners and the pre-collision data held in the air-bag module will most likely vindicate the car of any wrong doing. That said I would like to see the back of the truck, the likeliness that it is chinese is high and most likely crumpled like a tin can thus absorbing a substantial about of the crash impact. Wonder how its driver faired? Probably dead...
