NickF1011
I always wondered what happened to the other 8 plans? Kirk Kerkorian bought them to use later in his takeover bids of Wal-Mart and ExxonMobil.
jpd80
Isn't Kirk Kerkorian like 90 years old? His only long term commitment should be buying green bananas.

Why would the Ford family be willing to let some geezer, who won't even be alive to see the results of his labor, strip the company apart? Answer: They won't. What the heck are Kerkorian's motivations anyway? The old man needs to retire already before the Grim Reaper makes that decision for him.

jpd80
Usually, a Detroit recovery plan consists of holding on to market share and waiting for better times all while using incentives to prop up market share. Ford's strategies does none of this and is a genuine attempt to restructure and right size the company. They're shaving North American costs and seem to be making progress in the face of a full market slowdown. Around the world, Ford is doing great. Does anyone think Kerkorian likes Ford's business changes and increased his shares because of that? Edited April 28, 2008 by jpd80
Critic
No, he's pissed he didn't buy in when it was $5/share and it's on it's way up now, so he's making his play. It will go above 9 before long, same thing happened with GM. he is only doing it for the money he can make flipping stock.

RichardJensen
Guys, could ANY of you EVER have made ANY of this up, if you tried? I love, also, how Tool-cubed (Alex Taylor III) over at Fortune jumped onto this to suggest that the Ford Family which backed Mulally & voted against selling out WHEN THINGS LOOKED BAD, might suddenly sell out and give in to Kerkorian now that things LOOK GOOD. I mean seriously, could ANYONE make this stuff up? Kirk tries to get shaky shaky Chrysler. No soap. Then he tries to get the uber "public company" GM. No soap. Now he's trying to get a company where fully 80% of publicly held shares must be voted against family control to end it? P-U-H-L-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-Z!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And his "oooh, I'll buy 20 million more shares" offer amounts to diddly (current holdings) + squat. There are well over a billion Ford shares in circulation (share price of c. $8, market cap of $16 b. or so). He has put in a tender offer for something like .1% of all Ford shares. RichardJensen
Frankly, someone ought to indict his wrinkled ass for running his third consecutive pump-n-dump scheme.
Extreme4x4
Just read the writing on the wall................. according to salsa, Ford is toast by 2011. Disclaimer: The list of things that would have to happen, to make salsa's prediction a reality, borders on the mathamatically impossible. Yet, in his delirious state, seems perfectly plausible. Suggestion: BON members take up a collection to purchase his meds for him again. An intervention may also be necessary. In the meantime, we need to contact the "facility" he is in, and tell them that they need to monitor his computer time more carefully.
