fordwindsor
Are the mods asleep on this site? The quality of the posts on this section of BON have deteriorated to the point where I rarely come here. Some posters have hijacked many threads for their own purpose making this forum lame. Anyway, anyone competent to comment on news at OAC, as local 707's website is also a dead duck. Horseman
Not much new going on at OAC. A new plant manager has rolled into town, apparently from Kansas City. Looks like 10 hour shifts from here to eternity. Cola was re-instated as of June 4, 28 cents. YeeHaw. Thats all I got.

Do you know your days of inventory per model? Days of orders per model? Are they canvassing for a voluntary Saturday shift? I have a hunch a third shift will be announced during ratification if sales continue the steady rise. Karma hit Scotty McColeman. What is he doing now? As per usual CAW practice, I assume he was appointed to a CAW National position. Do not take your 10 hour shifts for granted. There are over a thousand Ford of Canada production employees on layoff in Windsor and St. Thomas who would gladly trade places. Some in Windsor are going on their seventh year of layoff and will be losing recall rights if things do not change during contract bargaining. Trimdingman
They need to get rid of that HOV lane on the westbound QEW. Rush hour is worse now than it was before with just three lanes. Cops sit there every day hiding under the overpass to nab people using the lane with only one person in the car. It is the socialist Ontario government's war on the car. As auto workers, we should be outraged. If the intention was to improve air quality by reducing the number of cars on the highway, it is a failure. The city of Burlington is bearing the brunt, as cars bail at Burloak, and clog Burlington streets. If they let everybody use all lanes, traffic would flow smoothly. The way it is now, cars exiting from the HOV lane need to cross three lanes, and this causes a backup of traffic from Brant Street to Burloak. There has been nothing said about this in the politically correct media. It is high time that the people spoke up. Working ten hours and then spending another hour and a half crawling in traffic to get home is not why we pay taxes to the Ontario government. Trimdingman
It is a no brainer Trim. Carpool so you can drive in the HOV lane. Or does no one want to carpool with you. BACK TO TOPIC! It is not practical for most people to carpool. What is the topic? Probably 1000 or more OAC workers know what I am talking about. It adds an hour to the work day. Something needs to be done. If you transfer to OAC, you will probably have to live in Hamilton unless you can afford a $500,000 house. This will affect you, also. You work in the auto industry, but you support government measures that are trying to kill off the private automobile. You should find other work. Trimdingman
I'm going to transfer to OAC from DTP , but I plan on commuting from Detroit every day. I hope I can use the carpool lane! You will have to check your firearms at the Canadian border. You will be fair game for criminals. Stuck in traffic, you will be a sitting duck. This is not funny anymore. It used to take me 30 minutes to get home. The Ontario government spent billions of dollars and a decade of construction to add a fourth lane. Now it takes me an hour and a half to get home if I get off the highway at Burloak and use Burlington streets. If I stay on the highway, it takes longer than an hour and a half to get home. It should take less than 30 minutes with the extra lane. The government spent my tax money to make my life miserable and collect fines from people who get fed up and try to use the HOV lane. Let the liberals know that this will take them down if it is allowed to continue.

Trimdingman
Now what exit do I take to exit the HOV lane The HOV lane is the far left lane. To get off, you have to get to the far right. When a lot of cars do that in rush hour, it backs up traffic for miles. The cops are like vultures preying on people who need to be somewhere, so they use the HOV lane. It is a cash cow for the government, and it gives the cops more Tim Hortons time when they fill their quotas. As for the taxpayers who paid for this, we get it you know where. FordEdge
Laid-off workers from Windsor and St. Thomas from January 2012 are receiving phone calls to start back on Monday, June 18th.
ute
any idea for how long they will be back ? is it just to cover summer absenteeism ?
FordEdge
They will be back from this Monday, (less summer shutdown) until January 2013. Hopefully, September's negotiations will allow them to work ongoingly instead of outside temps being hired to work and then laying off the Ford employees. Hopefully, September's negotiations will allow them to work ongoingly instead of outside temps being hired to work and then laying off the Ford employees. Can you expand on this? How can temps be hired to do CAW work when members are on layoff? I have never heard of using outside temps on the line. What is going on up there? We receive no news on OAC in Windsor as Ballsacs is too lazy to update the 707 website with the current newsletter. More news, less bull would be appreciated on this thread. FordEdge
I have asked and have been advised that the Newsletters will be updated this weekend on the website. If not, I will follow up again. The policy with the temps (TPT''s) has been an ongoing one in an agreement with the previous Plant Chairman to cover employees that may be sick during the week. There are certain temps that work certain days, i.e. Mon-Wed, and others Thurs-Sat if needed. Bob Scott has stated this will no longer be policy to have temps working as long as members are laid off ,as part of the September negotiations. Here''s hoping that will be accomplished.
