NickF1011
Wow. Talk about answering a question nobody asked. Could Suzuki pick a worse time to introduce a pickup?
mustangfan100
They should have made their own unibody pickup to compete with the RidgeLine. Why would anyone get this over the Nissan which it's based on?
NickF1011
They should have made their own unibody pickup to compete with the RidgeLine. Yeah, because the Ridgeline itself is really flying off of lots.
jonas1022
Next thing, they'll announce that Nissan's big truck is to be provided by Dodge... Edited October 2, 2008 by jonas1022
old_fairmont_wagon
Yeah, that'll be a real big stunner, about as big of a stunner as it will be when Chrysler announces a deal to provide mid-size pickups to Mitsubishi... Wait a minute..... Raider anyone?
V8-X
Why? Guess this is good for Nissan, being they'll get more production out of their Frontier. Then again it could be bad for Nissan, as this could steal some of their Frontier sales. Same goes for Suzuki. Do they really need to release a truck with the way the market and fuel prices are today? Will it sell or will people still opt for the Nissan badge? armadamaster
Wow. Talk about answering a question nobody asked. Could Suzuki pick a worse time to introduce a pickup? I partially agree with you on that. I think it's a horrid time to introduce a rebadge of someone else's truck. However, I don't see why Suzuki didn't produce their own actual compact pickup off of one of their SUVs, (note: i said actual compact pickup) maybe even unibody, mighta had some potential, along as they didn't go "midsize" with it. NickF1011
Is the link not working for anybody else? Looks like the article was moved. All you missed was a Frontier with a Suzuki grille on it. :boring:
old_fairmont_wagon
This would have been an excellent time for Nissan to test the market for a 4 cylinder crew cab midsized pickup in NA. The 2.5L would likely do well enough in that setup and they could have kept the Suzuki nameplate on it to protect market perception of the Frontier. guesswhoscomingtodinner
Yeah, because the Ridgeline itself is really flying off of lots. Did Ford give up trying to compete with the Ridgeline and cancel the SportTrac? Haven't seen a Sporttrac in forever? :reading:
NickF1011
Did Ford give up trying to compete with the Ridgeline and cancel the SportTrac? Haven't seen a Sporttrac in forever? :reading: Impossible to say. Ford combines Sport Trac sales with Explorer sales. I still see Sport Tracs here and there. Of course, using the Sport Trac's extremely slow sales to defend the Ridgeline's only slightly less slow sales isn't exactly a solid defense, is it?
