ZR-1 Price gouging

the only one ive ever seen in person was at the GM gift shop in the Detroit Metro Airport. Looked good, but i still think the clear hood bulge is kind of tacky.

I saw my first ZR-1 at the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Dave Ressler was there at the time, displaying his ZR-1 (IIRC the first ever produced/sold) and his original 3rd-off-the-line 1953 Corvette. I got to meet him....seemed like a great guy.

this conversation comes up every time a hot new model comes out. the best thing to do is wait for the 'early adoptors' to have their way with the dealers. after the initial rush, you can get the car you want and pay a reasonable price for it. it's really that simple.

But its so much fun to bitch and whine about it each and every time ^_^

P.S. my retort to your sig is "liberalism is a mental disorder"

01foci, i commend you. you actually read what's posted before you, something most of our fellow posters do not. healthy discourse is wonderful.

...and i'm glad we agree on the dealer markup. it is, after all, pure capitalism at work here. sooner or later, the markup goes away, and people can decide what the car is really worth.

If the dealers sold these vehicles at MSRP, then people would simply buy them from the dealer and put them up for resale to the highest bidder. The retail price would end up the same with individuals or other dealers getting the profits instead of the original dealers. The only difference is the occasional personal buyer might be able to find one at MSRP if they get in line.

Yep, this is the way it works.

The 2009 GTR's were going for ridiculous numbers ($100K+).

Now can be had for ($86,900 - just $3500 over MSRP for a premium GTR).

Those ZR-1 prices will come down as well. Awesome ride though.

Hell I remember when a dealership in TX was offering 2005 Mustang GT's with $10-12K ADM.

EDIT-Quick browsing shows you can get a premium GTR at MSRP now.
