mettech
You can't downsize all three motor companies and not expect huge downsizing in parts suppliers.Ford, GM and Chrysler are all losing market share, it's coming whether the industry is ready or not. Bingo.. And can anyone here disprove that statement. The loss of Big 3 jobs will continue until they get to a profitable size. Maybe all they can profit from is a car or two and the truck line. If so, I hope it will be the best in the world.
Loyalbutconcerned
Good faith loans? And that's why we are having the foreclosure rates and story after story of how the bank fudged the numbers to get people into homes they truly couldn't afford or qualify for? I admit, a lot of blame needs to be put on the consumer, but the financial institutions are just as much to blame for many of these bad practices and digging themselves a hole. They basically got caught with their hand in the cookie jar. Seems by sales figures, plenty of NA customers are still buying domestics over foreigns. Sure not at the rate they used to, but seems the foreigns are seeing very similar downturns in NA sales as the domestics. Exactly how were the banking problems forced on them? Please elaborate how. So the high paying jobs in the auto industry went by the wayside and the people stopped paying their morgages and credit card bills and stopped buying homes so the housing market crashed. Contractors stopped buying pickups and so did consumers, for different reason - high gas prices. Again, consumers demanded these vehicles and Detroit build them. Demand dropped when gas proces skyrocketed, now the vicous cycle is spiralling down. I wonder when this started.
