donzuchowski
Since Ford is selling off PAG and we all know lincoln was apart of pag and that means ford will be selling lincoln/mercury, after all they sold pag members austin martin/jag/land rover/ and now volvo is up, so next step is lincoln/mercury. then ford can concentrate on ford only and move them upscale to lexus/bently

MN12Fan
Ford removed Lincoln from the PAG in 2002 to refocus the PAG on its foreign brands (which the PAG was made up of completely except when Lincoln was apart of it). That said, even if Ford could sell Lincoln Mercury, who would buy them? Better yet, who would take Lincoln Mercury seriously when separate from Ford? wolfpack219
Ford will not sell this luxury brand especially since it just posted higher sales than all of the luxury brands from other companies. Lincoln in turning around fast and becoming more appealing to younger and middle aged markets. Mercury I am not so sure about but Lincoln isn't going anywhere. It didn't post higher sales than many other luxury brands, however, it did see signficantly smaller declines than most of them. Still a ways to go, but it is improving. kpc655
Better question 1.. who would want to buy them? What would you even get..they're too integrated with Ford. You'd get a name that requires a hell of a lot of new invest. Better question 2...why not shut 1 or both down?
