fordtech1
Interesting article. Maybe just a PR stunt, but kinda funny. BTW, the way I see it, Congress doesn't have any room to critique a company/person's ability to manage money. http://blogs.moneycentral.msn.com/topstock...ecorations.aspx Edited February 18, 2009 by fordtech1

rmc523
It should work now Works for me. I'm thinking much of that was more of a publicity thing than anything. I would've done most of that stuff in the first place anyways though. I think they did pose a good question: (By the way, $20,000 a year on clock batteries? How many clocks did Chrysler have, anyway?)
Big_Mack
Am I the only one that found that story kinda funny???? Ford was proactive years ago about downsizing, mortgaging, cutting workforce, etc. to save money...and Chrysler is taking down clocks and lightbulbs??... Wow...those executives sure do deserve their bonuses..they are doing a wonderful job of squandering away that government money...

RichardJensen
$20,000 on batteries: Figure they run on C cells (just because, well, you don't get to be Chrysler by making smart decisions) Then figure they're replacing the batteries once a year. Figure maybe a quarter a battery 80,000 batteries 80,000 clocks 80,000 clocks for how many employees? Apparently, this every employee had a display like this in his/her own cubicle:

97svtgoin05gt
It just goes to show you how much cash was thrown into the burners during the good times. Their measures are probably too little too late. Better check Duracell/Energizer stock, I'm sure things aren't going nearly as well over there. Ford Jellymoulds
Lets hope nobody does anything foolish like charging their mobile phone up at work it might just push them over the edge, and send Chrysler into chapter 11. Chrysler still thinks merging with GM is a good idea Edited February 20, 2009 by Ford Jellymoulds
