rmc523
maybe we should be doing alittle of this. I disagree.....while we have a right to be mad at the executives for having such large bonuses there are a few points I feel should be made (in no particular order): 1) I'm not defending these guys, since many of them are partially responsible for this mess, but as shown with Mulally, good talent (necessary talent) requires $$$ and compensation.....again, I'm not defending anyone, just stating a fact. 2) I highly disagree with people protesting in front of executives houses as they've been doing.....4 or 5 AIG executives resigned recently b/c they feared for their lives and the lives of their families.....that's ridiculous. 3) If we should be protesting on anybody, it's our own government.....THEY (Barney Frank, Tim Giethner, Chris Dodd, etc.) put the AIG compensation/bonuses in the "stimulus bill" that Congress passed (and nobody obviously read), so don't pin it all on the executives for following what CONGRESS made law. That's enough points for now.
Pioneer
Lol, it would be nice. Only problem is, France actually stands behind their workers, unlike this country. In America, the public would be demanding the release of the executive, the outsourcing of their work as punishment, and death for the hostage takers. battyr
maybe we should be doing alittle of this. Good idea. It should be followed by the same thing from the Wall street executives. Then by the Mexican workers. Then the Chinese workers. Then the Red army. Hell, the whole world should protest all at once.
V8 Ford
Lol, it would be nice. Only problem is, France actually stands behind their workers, unlike this country. France rigs the market to maximize welfare of some workers. Great if you're employed, although it sucks if your one the people that can't find a job due to the high costs of employment. There's no such thing as a free lunch in economics, and if you screw with competitive markets someone gets caught with the short end of the stick. Tariffs, minimum wage and labor laws, etc might make some people beter off, but the guys that get stuck usually aren't the proverbial socialis whipping boys.
