namelocbob
BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF ISA LOCAL 900: AT THIS TIME IN EACH OF OUR LIVES WE ARE BATTLING NOT ONLY THIS TOUGH ECONOMY, THE LOSS OF OUR JOBS, WATCHING OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY LOSE THEIR JOBS, AND THE NEGATIVE LOOK UPON OUR UNION FROM THE MEDIA AND THOSE IN OUR COMMUNITIES. WE ARE NOW FORCED TO FIGHT AGAINST ONE ANOTHER. ANOTHER GREAT TESTIMONY TO THOSE WATCHING AND WONDERING WHAT GOOD IS A UNION IF THERE IS NO SOLIDARITY AND THE UNION DOES NOT STEP IN TO PROTECT CONTRACTUAL LANGUAGE. HERE INSIDE OUR OWN FACILITY WITH OUR OWN BROTHERS AND SISTERS! THIS IS NOT A PHYSICAL FIGHT BUT ONE OF EMOTIONS AND THE COMPANY'S ABILITY TO CONQUER US AND DIVIDE US. WE ALL KNOW THAT OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE EVEN TELLING HIGH HOUR EMPLOYEES TO VIOLATE THE CONTRACT VOLUNTARILY AND SOME OF OUR MEMBERS ARE CONSIDERING ACCEPTING VOLUNTARY OVERTIME FOR THIS WEEKEND, WHILE KNOWING THE PROCESS USED TO OFFER THESE MEMBERS WAS IN NO WAY IN AGREEMENT OF OUR CONTRACT OR THE INTENT OF THAT LANGUAGE. IF YOU PERSONALLY OR HAVE A FRIEND THAT YOU KNOW HAS BEEN PUT IN THIS SITUATION BY OUR COMPANY, AND THE LOCALS INABILITY / APATHY TO PREVENT IT, PLEASE ASK THEM TO FOLLOW THE CONTRACTUAL LANGUAGE AS THEY WOULD EXPECT OF YOU! WHEN THINGS ARE BACK TO BEING DONE FAIRLY, ETHICALLY AND MORALLY BY THIS COMPANY, THEY WILL GET THEIR TURN. ASK THEM TO NOT ALLOW THIS COMPANY TO CONQUER THE MORALS AND DIGNITY THAT WE AS UNION MEMBERS HAVE LEFT

The above sounds and reads like Orwellian "double-speak". Is the problem the fact that the company actually wants its employees to work some overtime to build some vehicles? What is the 'transgression' that's the basis of your complaint? Did the company not first say "Simon Says...", or "Pretty please, with sugar on top?" C'mon..... WHO in their right minds at this point in time are going to complain and file petty grievances against the company for being asked to come and work at their jobs? Many factories across all of autodom are still shut down, or running at reduced output. Rejoice in the fact that someone WANTS you to drag you and your co-workers skinny (and fat) butts to the job site and be productive in exchange for what is still considered decent pay, especially in these trying times! Sheeesssshhhhh. -Ovaltine Edited July 25, 2009 by Ovaltine

J-150
funny thing is, the ones that cry solidarity the most are the ones being laid off or not gettting overtime. would you be willing to reduce your hours to 20 hours per week so that another brother could come back and also work 20 hours and then both of you have jobs? just how much solidarity are you prepared to extend? how much brotherhood are you willing to extend?
