This election in Massachusetts had lots to do with Fox news.

These events reveal Fox News for the partisan organization that it is.

All right wing propaganda ...all the time.

you left out the part about their high rating............

I think that is the point....I don't want ANY media organization controlling any election...More people watch...they're not completely truthful...they have an agenda to promote....this can't turn out good.

Fox did not invent conservatism. The truth is easy to fathom. Socialism is based on catch phrases which are not supposed to be questioned. Anyone who questions is a racist, sexist, homophobe, uncaring, predjudiced, redneck, ignorant, intolerant, and stupid. Why would any conservative want to watch a network that would be constantly laying a guilt trip on him? Fox tells people what is going on when the other networks try to hide it. It was ok when the Washington Post and New York Times went after Richard Nixon blowing some minor shenanigans into a national scandal. Watergate was nothing compared to Acorn, Van Jones, plagerism, no birth certificate, Pastor Jeremiah Wright, and many others. They just brushed it all off like it was nothing. If a republican president did any of this, they would be whipping the public into an empeachment frenzy. I watch what I like. I enjoy listening to people with whom I agree. I do not tune into Fox to get brainwashed. People are fed up. They get offended when a peaceful sincere movement is put down by their president who uses derogatory language to describe them, instead of answering any of their questions. The tide is turning. People are starting to think, instead of just believing what the socialists tell them. Socialism didn't solve any of the problems that led to it's rise, just made them worse. All one has to do is look at history. Now we are broke, and deep in debt. At least we are all equal now.

Sorry still not a landslide.

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-landslide-election.htm

But a very interesting result.

Here is a good article about it

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/21/us/politics/21reconstruct.html?th&emc=th

By the time Ms. Coakley’s campaign and Democratic officials noticed that things were not right in Massachusetts — after reading an outside group’s poll on Jan. 9 that showed Mr. Brown holding a 1 percentage point lead — the fire, as one White House official put it, was out of control. The Tea Party reinforcements had arrived, and a conservative group from Iowa started running commercials here portraying Ms. Coakley as a big spender who would raise taxes, a powerful issue with independents.

“It was a classic case of everybody getting caught napping,” David Axelrod, a senior adviser to the president, said in an interview. “This guy knew exactly what he was doing. He’s an appealing candidate. Pleasant guy. He’s smart. He tapped into an antipolitician sentiment.”

Obama won the US election 53 to 46 and that was considered a "mandate" to change policy. Obama won MA 62-36. Losing this seat 14 months later is a landslide.

I would hope that a person of voting age would be intelligent enough to make their own decision based on a set of ideals and values that they have obtained through life experiences, their faith and other positive influences ......what is their agenda?...... and as Trim has said I was a conservative long before Fox news came along...and if you really think the the popularity of Fox news can determine an election...how do you explian obama being elected?

You missed my point.....I agree that people wanted a change in 08...but in your original post you infered that Fox News could determine an election and if that were true then obama would not have won in 08, because Fox came out for McCain....

I used the word control...I should have used influence....The 2008 election was a Democratic victory because the republican president didn't handle the job very well...that and the fact the republicans picked a joke for a VP....I don't care who the Democrats put up in '08 (within reason)...they were going to win. Hey ... If you think Fox NEWS is truthful and not slanted...then by all means watch away...I choose to vary my sources...but as you can tell I'm a skeptic.

Well informed people make intelligent choices.

Yes they do. Unfortunately brainwashed people also, "think" that they're making intelligent choices. Keep drinking this type of "You tube" swill, and you'll soon be the proud owner of a slap chop, a Snuggie, a very rare... limited edition Obama dinner Plate and 100 acres of Ocean front property in Billings, Montana. If it's on the "internets" its got to be true, right?

Page 8, sec. 10... Rupert Murdoch, in conjunction with Bill O'reilly, Sean Hannity, the Fox News Network and all HMO's.... direct the Sheep to a You tube video that they helped to produce.

Page 21, sec. 7.... The Sheep are in utter awe of something that's known as a Power Point presentation.

Page 37, Sec. 9, the sheep get really angry when they see their Flag being flown upside down, underneath an obviously inferior Mexican Flag.

Page 62, sec. 11, the sheep are now thoroughly incensed, their dander is up and they start to look at different federal buildings at which they should plant their collective Manure in front of.

Page 79 sec. 2 The Flock is now in total revolt. They're so convinced that the Government is planning on taking away their Guns, granting illegal Foreign Sheep health care, and letting Natalie Holloway's killers go free, that they just lose all sense of cognitive reasoning.

Page 84, sec. 8... the sheep have taken the bait, hook, line and sinker.

Page 99 sec. 8..... Rupert Murdoch laughs diabolically, as he strokes his evil cat while contemplating how easy it was to manipulate the minds of American sheep.

Page 110. sec 8.... the mindless sheep become corporate shills and start to spread the word of the half-truth, to all the other sheep.

Page 122, Sec 8. a new "pro-corporate" regime is put back into office, and the sheep are ordered to go back to their tents and drink the Red Kool Aid.

I'm so relieved to see someone on this forum who sees things as they are and doesn't just cut and paste for Fox. Why Can't they see they are helping the very corporations that want to eliminate unions and lower our standard of living.

You actually believe that totalitarian government is preferable to free enterprize? A corporation can never get enough power to control your life. Government can and does.

Our standard of living is much lower now under government control than it would be under a libertarian system. Look at the former USSR. Look at Cuba. The cost of maintaining the bloated socialist system is staggering. We are taxed to the limit, and the government is printing (borrowing/robbing) money at an unprecedented rate to pay for it. Soon it will collapse. Will we emerge as a free state, or will the government be allowed to bring down it's iron fist? Will we have internment camps? Will conservatives be forced into slave labor gulags? Will everything be controlled and rationed by the government? I would rather live or die on my own merit than have the government decide my fate.

And?

I think the important thing is the accuracy of the reporting, regardless of the number of the viewers.

How sad it is that the American public is not interested in the operation of their government, who consumes such a huge portion of their earnings, and they prefer to watch "American Idle", "The Bitchlorette", "Entertain Us Tonight", "Monday Night Foolsball", "Oprah-rah-rah", etc.....

The problem is not who won the election; but who is allowed to vote.

Being educated about important facts and thoughtfully considering the issues, is too much for the vast majority of eligible voters.

I would argue that the members of this site are far more qualified to vote, despite the differences of opinions, than the remaining population.

Let's keep it civil and we all can learn something here.

I must disagree with you on the point that the people on "here" are more qualified to vote .... I've read more partisian stuff on here then I will ever hear on FOX...both left and right...I don't think that makes you qualified...I think it makes you "close minded".... and blind to the obvious.

I don't care so much about partisan perspectives.

Each one of us reading and posting here are going miles beyond the typical dumb masses. We exchange ideas (our own or the talking points of those we consider influential) and usually try to justify our position in the face of opposing opinions. At least we took the time to discuss the topic.

On these forums we are deliberating and responding to the issues that are of the utmost importance.

I accept the differences of opinions. I only ask of you what I grant to everyone here, to read, think, consider, weigh and then respond if you are so moved.

Everybody is qualified to vote. People have differing opinions, and some seem to be oblivious to the "real world'. There are many different ways at looking at things. Maybe, for instance, the world is over-populated. Some people are in favor of pursuing advances in medicine or peace. This would only make the "problem" worse. Religion was tried in the past to create a more just and less cruel society. What we ended up with was religions imposing harsh punishments on non-believers, and waging wars against other religions. Whenever the "great minds" try to create a better society, it always ends up in failure. It is better to allow people to live their lives as individuals and not try to impose your will or customs on them. We tried to turn the American Indians into White Men, and ended up destroying their civilization. There will be no fair laws handed down from the Federal Government which would apply equally to everybody, because everybody is different. More authority should to go to localities, and less to the Federal government. If you don't like the laws where you live, you could move somewhere else. If a municipality sees all of its people leaving, it would make the necessary adjustments.

If you think that Fox News has some kind of legitimate watch dog role then you have not been paying attention.

Continually lying and distorting the truth is not being a watchdog it is being a propagandist for the powerful interests that back this 'network'.

The other networks seem to have at least some responsible people who try and report the TRUTH.

While this administration has faults, lying and distorting does seem to be Fox's only means of operation.

The other networks point out the shortcomings of the Obama administration.

Fox just makes stuff up and distorts. Propaganda all day every day.

Thanks to organizations like Newshounds these deceptions are exposed.
