Not being a dick, I was off for the last month....it'll take awhile for ALL the facts to come out.

Maybe more high seniority jobs..general stores, small tool repair and some material handling..was hard to hear and they wern't exactly clear.

Respect for some local reps. The Union had more then an hour to make their point and when the mic was turned over for questioning a few of the local reps hogged it,kissing ass for 10 minutes at a time without posing a question. As soon as member got it with an oppossing view they turned the mic off on her after 2 minutes. EVERYONE has the right to speak. That was really bad.

Possibly every ounce of respect for the National depending on what happens. The guy with the broken arm posted on the big screen and stated "Ford commits to invest 1 billion in implementing the c4 platform DURING THIS AGREEMENT". A guy near me took a cellphone pic of that one. If they try and weasel out of that one and the company comes looking for concessions in 2012 for the same platform evry one of their heads should roll.

Everyone does have the right to speak, but for how long?? Get up ask a question or 2 and sit down. If everyone took a turn trying to make a name for herself/himself we would still be there.

2 minutes at 1000 attendees adds up to 33 hours, not counting time for a response.

We were there to vote on a contract not to promote ourselves

Let's not get into Lindsay and her bullshit. She was speaking for more then 2 minutes, and she wasn't asking questions. She was making a speech. The fact that she said we should stand with the UAW and turn down the contract was a joke. First of all, the CAW, and the UAW contracts are different. Secondly and more importantly if you're going to support a union, shouldn't it be the CAW? Funny I didn't hear her say to support the GM/Chrysler members who voted in favour. There's a reason she wasn't voted into office.

I'll tell you something tho...My advice to her, and any of you that hate this deal so much, and can't stand the crap anymore....Take the buyout in 2011 so you won't have to burden yourselves with this anymore.

There is a difference between asking questions and making a political statement. While I believe the lady in question has every right to voice her opinion, the time period was for questions, not speeches. And yes, she was speaking for more than two minutes, and not asking questions but giving a speech.

Not that I don't believe any of her points had merit; it just wasn't the time nor the place when there were others in line to ask questions.

What people aslo don't realize is that the ballot boxes close when they close .. with the skilled trades meeting taking place after the main meeting it doesn't allow anyone else time. The balloting was closing before our meeting was over.

Don't worry, same thing happened at STAP. The guys that told the union how great they were, were allowed to talk and talk and talk. But as soon as someone stood up and questioned the leadership, their mic was killed.

That number is also skewed a weee bit. No one talked for 10 minutes at one of the question mics. Get out from under Lindsay's skirt would ya.

It's funny how the first three people that got up to talk just blew smoke up Ken's and Gary's ass, with NO questions at all. I don't care if you endorse the contract or not. When is the last time any of them worked on the line. Go sit back in your cushy chair and shut the $#%^ up!!!

I also loved how the Lewenzster kept hulking up during the meeting, what ya gonna do brother when the caw and ford motor company run wild on you!

I also loved the part when he went on about how Gary is such a great man for being there while his wife is in the hospital and daughter is sick with the swine flu, I don't think he's a great man I think he's a loser for leaving his family, I guess making $150,000 plus a year and making sure you get re-elected is more important

That, my friend, would have been a no-win situation. Not that I'm defending or applauding Gary, but if he had of stayed home he would have been accused of "abandoning" the membership, just as much as he is being criticized for not staying with his family. I'm sure that given the circumstances he weighed out the seriousness of the family issues and decided that his family was in good hands to the point he could function in his elected position.

What would have probably been best is the issue not being mentioned at all, leave the family issues out of it. My sympathy or lack thereof has no bearing on the information being provided to us.

No shit sherlock. The speaker never said the contracts were the same. A member suggesting we vote no to concessions as the uaw did is hardly offensive and "bullshit" just because it differs from your opinon. Perhaps you could open your ears and listen to the message next time instead of instantly dismissing the messanger.

Typical cop out and very weak. People in all walks of life bitch about their jobs, their boss, the company, their co-workers and their workload. It's what people do. And for fordworkers this is the forum for it. If you can't accept that, tuff shit. FYI I have not talked to a single person who liked this deal. Re read what your hero Lewenza had to say along the lines of no one should confuse the acceptance of this contract with satisfaction.

Grow up.

The financial secretary went on and on without posing a question, only delaying them, causing annoyance and frustration until people started yelling time and stfu.

I noticed the committeperson from paint waited for the line up to form before taking his place at the back of it. That showed some class and respect for the general membership. A few of you reps could learn from that. However from the tone of your posts you are too self important and thick headed.

You can say what you want about Lindsay, but the girl has more balls than anyone in a Leadership position at Oakville..When the contract is up in 2012 you guys better hope that she is in a position to stand up for Local 707,because no one else at Oakville seems to want to do it...She at least has the best interest of the members in her heart and mind, and she is seeking a way to make things turn in your favour....Like her or not she's only trying to do the right thing, and if you dumbasses don't realize this about her,I will feel sorry for your dumb asses during the next negotiations....Enjoy your 10 min. breaks when they get here, especially the people who never even showed up to vote....idiots.

My job got cut and COLA was frozen until June 2012. That is why I voted no. We are going to see high inflation before we get COLA back.

The recession is not over. I have serious doubts about us ever getting the third shift. I see a cut to one shift as a more likely scenario. The market rally is false. It is inflated on printed money; devalued dollars. Look at the price of gold. If gold was at a more reasonable $500, the Dow would be around 5000. The American dollar is worthless. People fear that the Canadian dollar is higher. I sure hope that it is. I don't want Canada to follow the US off the cliff. I can remember the price of gold at $50 an ounce. Imagine the US dollar being worth a dollar at that point. The price of gold has risen against the dollar by a factor of over 21 since that time. That would place the real value of the dollar at just over four cents. When the panic starts and people rush to get out of dollars the momentum will push the value of the dollar to virtually zero. The Canadian dollar will be affected also. Our wages would not be enough to buy even food to eat. We will be paid whatever the company wants to pay us. The best case scnario would be double digit inflation, which will see us lose maybe half of our buying power by the time we get our COLA back.

People who will argue that deflation is more likely than inflation had better hope that they are right, because we burned the other bridge. If you look at the increase in the stock market, and factor in the decrease in the value of the dollar compared to gold, the market actually went down. Artificially low interest rates, and printing money are not going to save us from the coming catastrophe. We will have to live through it, or else our children and grand-children will. I say bring it on.

I already like this Lindsay person. God forbid a member actually speaks their mind a union meeting! The nerve of her not to tow the party line! Our leadership needs to grow a pair and stop being so damned predictable at the bargaining table.

Oh, this just in... it looks like Ford wants to go back to the bargaining table with the IUAW.

The Chicken Littles are the ones who do not want to face reality, but pass it on to their children and grand-children. The world is not some magical place where you can just wish all of your problems away. The piper has to be paid. Our socialist system of making sure that everybody is looked after regardless of cost or consequenses is about to have a rude awakening. Who is going to do the bailing when we all are sinking?
