putt
I dug clams, worked for Olivetti Underwood, Henderson Display Advertising, Northern Electric, National Cash Register, Star Dolls, Hi-Lo Equipment, Transportation Services, Vaughn Township Dept of Public Works, Graves Foods, primed tobacco, Concord Movers, Lewis Paper Products, Mercury Marine, Wesco Landscaping, and Stelco. I also worked at odd jobs as a kid, and did temp work by the day during some lay-offs from Ford. Ford has been by far the best of any of these. I have been at Ford for 35 years, and plan to be there for many more. Seems to me you had trouble keeping a job, or you found you had to work hard, until the Golden Goose (Ford) came along, where at times you could avoid work and you know what I mean, so I won't have to explain, right Charly Enjoy the rest of your life at Ford, they like people like you, never have to pay them pensions just a death benefit TA TA
Trimdingman
What a stupid comment, you are an amazing specimen or an Archie Bunker clone How many socialists complain about the US favoring Democratic Isreal over Authoritarian Palestine? I have heard it over and over, so don't tell me different. They hate Jews deep down in their hearts. They would have followed Hitler if they had lived in Germany at the time. The original argument was that I said that Ford is an excellent place to work; not like a Nazi concentration camp, as Foxrun implied. I used to jump from job to job because I was not satisfied, and I moved around a lot before I got married. The fact that I have stayed at Ford so long, given my nature, should tell you something. If Trimdummy wants to put a negative spin on this let him and lets all ignore him. Best wishes all. I had a good year in 2009, until my job got eliminated. I am confident that I will find something. I hope that early packages will be offered for top seniority people. Otherwise, we will be bumping and generating layoffs. I don't think that this is in the spirit of the negotiations. I hope that 2010 sees the beginnings of an economic recovery. I am not predicting that, based on the fundamentals. Any "recovery" that we experience will be in the form of a bubble that will burst some time down the road. This is the BON "no-spin" zone. Do you realize that December marked the fifth anniversary of Fox News in Canada. It's censorship was finally lifted after a four year battle with the socialist powers at the CRTC. As they say, "the truth will out". You can censor, ignore, and ridicule all you want, but you can't hold back the tide. From Galileo to Limbaugh, they tried every means to silence them. We are merely messengers. You can't kill the message.

I am embarrassed that he is in my union, the CAW. Happy New Year to the rest of the CAW members and Canadian management. I am just a regular guy who has an opinion. Why do so many people get aroused? Is it because I apply a little logic to their long held beliefs? It is not healthy to have strong beliefs. When they are proven wrong, your brain could suffer damage. Why would you be embarrassed because I am in "your" union? The union belongs to itself. The idea that it somehow belongs to us is a myth. If that is the case, when I retire, I want to sell my share. This country was built on individual effort. Collectivism weighs everything down and leads to failure. Soon, all of our jobs will be outsourced to low paying vendors so that the company can avoid dealing directly with unions. This is happening, and has been for years. The believers cannot see it. I tell them about a place called Automodular in West Oakville. They do not believe that such a place exists. It is on Speers Road, near Bronte Road. GuyfromSTAP
What hurts even more is that 104 brothers and sisters got laid off today! Shouldn't hurt that bad as the vast majority voted those jobs for your brothers and sisters away last contract.Did we think there wouldn't be layoffs with the combo of reliefs and no spa weeks? Also with the elimination of clawback anyone laid off now will feel this pinch now and next year at tax time.Wonder how many of those 104 voted yes to the contract? I have a free effort job. I don't even know when breaks are or how long they are. No wonder we are going to hell in a handbasket. Between the company and the union, they have got us at each others' throats. Gerald Celente is predicting 40% inflation. He hasn't been wrong yet in his predictions. By 2012, we will be making less than Premier. The country is liable for payment of many social benefits. They don't have any money. China is buying worthless government bonds, which is propping up our unrealistic standard of living. China uses child labor. Child labor is paying for our social benefits. Trimdingman
you listen to too much coast to coast am...lol...and so do I I wish that is all it was. I now hear rumors about the elimination of pre-delivery. Nothing was said about that at the ratification meeting. They are shifting our retirement health care to a union-controlled fund, thus washing their hands of it. It seems like everything they have been doing has been to rid themselves of us. Starting pay is lower. This would be attractive to a future outsource company. I can read the writing on the wall. High inflation, which is widely predicted, would go a long way in bringing our wages in line, as we gave up COLA. All part of the plan, as I see it. As long as we are Ford employees, and are being raked over the coals in the media, Ford looks bad. By getting rid of us, Ford gets to look good to the public, which sees us as a liability because of all of the false negative press we have been getting. Who do you think feeds these stories to the press?

Trimdingman
. Why do you insist on staying It sounds horrible for you. What does that have to do with my point? You don't like the message, so you attack the messenger. Instead of looking for ways to attack me personally, how about showing me exactly where I have erred. If we bury our heads in the sand, they will just keep on dismantling us. Why don't I retire, you ask? I don't want to reduce my income by 50%. I do not want to be on a fixed income in an inflationary world. Retiree pension is about $650 per week clear. The price of gold has tripled since 2000, and official inflation has only gone up about 20%. That means that there is 280% inflation in the pipeline. That will reduce the buying power of $650 per week to about $232 per week. By the time all of the phony money flushes through the economy, it will be worth far less. There is no pension. My best hope is to hang on to my job for as long as possible.
