No SVT Focus No SVT Fusion (doesn't even get the 3.5) And when will we see this truck? The Sport Trac Adrenalin was ready to go, now they are going to build a Lightning again, but when? 2012? How many Toyotas do 0-60 under 7 seconds? I can't think of any. Doesn't seem to be hurting them any. At least SVT is still around. It's a miracle they've survived this long given Ford's troubles. I'm seing new Toyotas and Hondas(trucks) comng from the factory with aftermarket performance parts (hoods, etc). Ford needs to tap that market to compete. Sit down and talk to some of the GM guys about the great expectations they had with the Goat but fell terribly short. They were all looking for a Cobra killer the common man could buy.....didn't happen. Performance and specialty cars bring folks into the show room and help drive sales. What kind of headlines did it make when Dodge took the fastest truck title? Every mag covered that.....the GT 500 was probably the most covered model I've ever seen! Still is for that matter. There would be no horse power war going on if fuel economy was the only concern that was considered when making a purchase. He's certainly shown he has the brains and the tenacity...but I believe his problem lies upstairs. Not much he can do if Alan and Mark don't let him. Coletti was the real deal...sort of. Director of Ford's SVT Takes New Assignment in Brazil 22-02-2007 DEARBORN, Mich. — Hau Thai-Tang, 40, the Vietnam-born director of Ford's advanced product creation and Special Vehicle Team, is taking a new assignment as director of product development for the automaker's South American operations based in Brazil. Hermann Salenbauch, a former chief engineer at Land Rover and Thai-Tang's chief lieutenant, will head SVT, succeeding Thai-Tang. Thai-Tang had an impressive resume at SVT, overseeing the development of the 2007 Shelby GT500. He was chief engineer for the 2005 Mustang and served as Mustang vehicle engineering manager, leading the development of the 2001 Mustang GT, Cobra and Bullitt GT models. Thai-Tang has a degree in mechanical engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. What this means to you: The good news is that Ford actually appointed someone to succeed Thai-Tang, meaning SVT lives — at least for the time being.
