wildosvt
Intel says the IP manufacturer is staying ahead of MAP, that doesn't mean the problem with their equipment is completely fixed. Rebalancing production line for different rate and supply timetables is a complex issue and cannot be done over night. After August and September, sales should start to ease back in the cooler months allowing inventory build up. MAP is on 10 hours without a saturday until September. jpd80
MAP is on 10 hours without a saturday until September. It' s easier to add a Saturday or overtime than to rebalance a whole line..... MAP wouldn't be running 2 x10 hr shifts if they had any supply issues.... Edited August 1, 2011 by jpd80

MAP wouldn't be running 2 x10 hr shifts if they had any supply issues.... my uncle works for Chrysler. and is working 10s 5 days with Saturdays too. ford could add more Saturdays and rebalance the line, but they are not. Titaniums are on the lots in full force. So the mix is richer than it was in the beginning. it could be that ford is controlling inventory with product mix not production, it is rather brilliant or dangerous. only time will tell. ex220
The website is screwed up, for sure. It shows all the colors including discontinued ones on front page, but I think they took off the discontinued ones on the specific model pages (at least that's better than when they still had them there)...problem is, they must not have put up the new colors. For example, I planned to order Kona Blue, but when my dealer went to order it kicked it out. After confirming the new Sonic Blue was OK, it was ordered and in fact is scheduled to be build tomorrow. The window sticker online shows the Sonic Blue, but if I tried to configure one on the website, it's not an option. Go see a dealer and work it out and I'm sure they can order. Or, if you want to get quotes (assuming you plan to order and not get from inventory), I'd pick another color and then you can tell the dealer what you really want. Good luck! It's a shame...a company as large as Ford and can't maintain an accurate website...wonder how many sales they lost over it (or at least angry customers)? ...sorry, this was supposed to go onto another thread...not sure how it ended up here!! Biker16
looks like I was right Ford Might Sell Saline Supplier To French Parts-Maker Supplier Makes Instrument Panels, Floor Consoles And Other Parts For Ford POSTED: Tuesday, August 2, 2011 UPDATED: 8:04 pm EDT August 2, 2011 EmailPrint AP SALINE, Mich. -- Ford Motor Co. says there's a tentative deal to sell a Saline auto parts plant to a French components maker. Ford spokeswoman Della DiPietro (di-pi-EHT'-roh) said Tuesday a memorandum of understanding was signed for a sale to Faurecia SA. The French automaker PSA Peugeot Citroen SA is Faurecia's majority owner. The plant is 40 miles west of Detroit. United Auto Workers union Local 892 represents most of its 2,300 employees and says it plans contract talks with Faurecia. The plant makes instrument panels ,floor consoles and other parts for Ford vehicles. It's owned by Automotive Components Holdings LLC. Ford created the company in 2005 when Ford took back 17 facilities from Visteon Corp., Ford's former parts-making subsidiary. A deal to sell the plant to Johnson Controls Inc. collapsed in 2008. weiweishen
Does the following news reveal the real reason why FoMoCo has parts problem:TRAVERSE CITY, MICH. (Aug. 4, 1 p.m. ET) -- Ford Motor Co. has agreements to sell two of its parts plants, including the massive interiors plant in Saline, Mich. Published reports said the Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker has a memorandum of understanding to sell the Automotive Components Holdings LLC plant in Saline to French auto supplier Faurecia SA, but neither Ford nor Faurecia executives would confirm it. Another MOU is in hand for ACHs lighting plant in Sandusky, Ohio, signed in recent months, said Ford spokeswoman Della DiPietro. Further details were not available on that proposal either. The memo lays out the framework for a future sale, she pointed out, but does not guarantee a deal will be confirmed. An earlier MOU between Ford and Johnson Controls Inc. for Saline ended without a sale in 2008. ACH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ford, currently operates four plants down from 17 when the carmaker first formed the group to take over plants sold back to Ford by Visteon Corp. in 2005. The company continues to seek buyers for its climate control plant in Plymouth, Mich. A hydraulic steering operation in Indianapolis is slated to close in 2012, DiPietro said. ACH completed the sale of its Milan, Mich., fuel tank blow molding facility to Inergy Automotive Systems earlier this year. Paris-based Inergy is currently leasing the facility while it builds an all-new operation in the Detroit suburb of Huron Township, Mich. The Saline facility is one of the biggest interiors parts plants in the region, covering more than 1 million square feet of manufacturing space and employing 2,300 people. It has injection molding, cast and urethane skin production and assembly, making door panels, instrument panels, center consoles and other interior trim for a number of Fords major vehicles, including the Focus and Taurus. It has production that was also once part of ACHs former Utica, Mich., interiors site, moved to Saline to consolidate operations. Ford has invested more than $120 million at the site since ACH took it over, including $32 million in 2010 for interior skin and other manufacturing. Ford has also put money into the Sandusky facility, adding two injection molding presses earlier this year to make taillights for the Explorer and other Ford vehicles.
