Sync Installed?

Recommended Posts

Bought a new 12 Edge. Checked mysync and noticed it was there linked to my VIN. At what stage in mfg is this installed? Thanks for info.

Somewhere between the dash, electrical system and battery being installed and driving the car to the shipping dock.

Seriously - it's towards the end of the build process. If you saw it yesterday then it should already be finished except for upfitting if necessary.

Thanks for the info. Probably a dumb question but what is upfitting?

hi, just wondering at what stage the navi system is installed - same stage as sync? If not, is it installed offsite (upfitting)? Thanks in advance for the info!

Vehicles with Sync have some differences in wiring from those without. Also, the sync module "APIM" is either inside the dash or attached to the inside of the console. As far as the hardware, it would be put in during assembly of dash/console. The software is done at some point later. Fordmantpw is correct, MFT is programmed via WIFI while rolling down. From what I can tell by replacing APIM's at work, the modules are partialy programmed before they are installed,(VIP). In MFT the CIP and App software is programmed depending of vehicle options, with nav or not, heated seats etc when rolling down the line.
