NO TO CHINA FORD ELECTRIC CAR

The China market is forecasted to grow (depending on who is forecasting) anywhere from 25 to 30 million units annually. We are currently on a roughly 12 million pace this year in North America. Do the math and you will see Ford needs factories in China to meet the demand. To build and ship hundreds of thousands of vehicles a year to China is not feasible. The majority of the capacity Ford is putting into China is meant for the China market or surrounding APA countries.

Man, that's our problem! We got all this unemployment and gosh darn it some how we need to take advantage of that labor and be an actual nation of producers for once! We shoiuld be building and selling as many damn cars as we can... or atleast as many as we can sell around the world.

Given import controls in many of the largest markets around the world, exporting big ticket items like cars from the US is a losing proposition. There's just no way it can be done profitably on any large scale. It may work for small volumes, like Ford shipping Edges to China (from Canada anyway) and Mustangs to Japan, but that's about it.

How awesome is that. They won't let us export products to them but they sure don't have a problem selling our children poisonous toys with lead and god knows what else :redcard:

This surprises you?

WalMart and every other store is full of crap made in China and every other third-world country. Ever see an empty WalMart parking lot? People don't care where it comes from as long as it's cheap.

Until people actually vote with their pocketbooks don't expect things to change.

It's the U.S. that imposes export controls to China on several categories of goods, including some components/technologies applicable to gasoline-electric hybrid and full electric vehicles.

Well, they would do that regardless of whether or not Ford sells them there.

Yeah, It's already happing, sorta... Perhaps some of you have noticed the news about counterfit- Chinese parts ending up in our military aircraft. Of course in the spirit of great Communist China, they are very poorly made and highly prone to failure.
