Kris Kolman
Ford of India is getting ready to introduce a refreshed Figo with an emphasis of increasing quality of their value car. http://blogs.wsj.com/drivers-seat/2012/10/15/ford-launches-face-lifted-figo-in-india/

jpd80
This little rocket is turning into a good car, steady improvements will see it as genuine competitor to baby Koreans.. Maybe not in the US market but perhaps in Asia Pacific, maybe some other places?
aneekr
Maybe not in the US market but perhaps in Asia Pacific, maybe some other places? Figo would a perfect successor to the Ford Ikon in the Mexican market.
ausrutherford
Figo would a perfect successor to the Ford Ikon in the Mexican market. Already there as such (hatch only).

So it is... http://www.ford.mx/autos/ikon-hatch Interesting that Mexico is getting Figo (badged as Ikon) and not the Brazilian Fiesta. I'd assume the tariff benefit of sourcing from Brazil would seal the deal.

Kris Kolman
There was word earlier from Ford that they were working to develop a One-Ford value platform... My guess is that the Figo is part of that plan by adding production to Brazil and creating a sedan version.
danup
It'd be bad business for Ford to do it, but I've always wished they'd bring this car out in the states. It'd be nice to have something less ugly than the Versa in that price range. Edited October 19, 2012 by danup

But previous gen Fiesta is still in production in Brazil, hence my comment. Importing Figo from India (which is what Ford Mexico is doing) must involve some pretty interesting logistic when Ford can import Brazilian MK5 Fiesta duty free. Mexico used to receive the Brazilian MK5 Fiesta so I was just openly wondering why the choice of Figo instead. http://www.ford.com.br/showroom.asp?veiculo=
ausrutherford
Mexico gets the Figo as the Ikon, but also gets the Brazil made "Fiesta Ikon".

I don't think Ford is interested in the sub-13k market in the US/Canada, The next vehicle that will show up here in that price range is the Ecosport - probably start at 16k and go up to 22k. Slots nicely under the Escape, and still fits with Fords slightly upmarket move the have been doing in recent years.

Remember Ford is a global company and some of the products out there won't see the light of day outside South America, Africa, India, and China.
