DarkeRetribution
Well I've been worrying over the new 2013 Fusion Hybrid not meeting EPA ratings for a while now, most notably because I have a Titanium Hybrid pre-ordered, however excuses have been flying around blaming the weather and the fact that, apparently, anyone buying a new Fusion hybrid has never driven a hybrid before in their life making thme unable to achieve 47 MPG. Well, I still find it hard to believe that over 100 professional car reviewers don't know how to drive a hybrid and I find it even more hard to believe that a car toting an average MPG of 47 is getting around 10 MPG less. Now Ford says mileage varies per customer and driving habits will allow people to achieve at least 47 MPG or more, but the fact remains more people are complaining about the lack of getting 47 MPG at all, let alone anything close to it than praising the car being the most fuel efficient mid-sized sedan...EVER! It's not Winter yet, temperatures aren't that cold throughout America right now, and the new Fusion comes with hybrid drivers training built in so it can be assumed that people are trying their best to achieve 47 MPG before complaining about it. Other threads have popped up around here from concerned Fusion owners that already have their Fusions (unlike the rest of us still waiting) and well when I found this article it really didn't surprise me. Apparently, the EPA has heard enough from the people and are going to take matters into their own hands. Now what the EPA is going to do and what their results could mean for Ford is in the air at this point..no one knows for sure..but what is sure is it looks like the new Fusion is definitely going to be audited and I think it should... I just hope, for Ford's sake, things don't turn out badly in the results..or their the new flagship Enterprise will have a little more bad press under its wings. Here are the articles below: http://www.greencarr...-hybrid-mileage http://www.nbcnews.c...w-epa-1C7511815 http://www.torquenews.com/1075/independent-tests-fusion-and-c-max-hybrid-mpgs-lower-epa-certification Here is an interesting article on the topic from The Car Connection saying how the C-Max hybrid will also be audited: http://www.thecarcon...-economy-claims Be sure to read the comments on that one ^^^^ Comments and opinions much appreciated! Trolls with nothing to add will be ignored. Edited December 12, 2012 by DarkeRetribution
bengbrewer
Will hybrid fusions that were custom ordered be delayed? Mine was built 12/
Pers69
I doubt the EPA audit will have any bearing/impact on timing of delivery.
DarkeRetribution
I agree, this shouldn't change anything on time of delivery or anything like that. It's just information and making it more accurate if anything if the audit takes place.
Chris1970
Here is the official government site for gas mileage, 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid. You can research other cars as well. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find.do?action=sbs&id=33083
loosta
I have read a number of the complaints and talked with other Hybrid owners, but I can't say that I am worried. I have a 2010 Escape Hybrid and after I learned to drive it properly the MPG's went up dramatically. Averaging 34-36 MPG. Looking forward to the arrival of our Fusion Hybrid.

Charlee
Consumer Reports explains itself. This article clarifies a lot of issues http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2012/12/why-do-fords-new-c-max-fusion-hybrids-ace-the-epa-government-fuel-economy-tests.html?EXTKEY=I72RSC0 DR: I'm on your side for the most part, but the changing titles for your other thread is childish. Please change it back to something useful.
fordmantpw
I really don't know why I'm taking the time to reply to this, but here goes... DR, I know you really don't care what I have to say, but I'm trying to help. Watch the video linked in the first post of this thread: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/52039-raj-responds-to-cr-cr-backpedals-on-epa-claims/, specifically the part where Raj explains the differences in fuel economy for a hybrid based on conditions. It's an eye opener, and may help to calm some of your fears (as well as others).

So I apologize. But I don't have a grudge against you or anyone else on here (except akirby..he's a man I'll never understand) so thanks for the video and the insight. I don't know why people are getting the impression I'm a troll lol..but its an entertaining reputation to say the least.
