SoonerLS
Add in that it got larger in almost every dimension and I'd say still managing to lose any weight (really? 500 lbs isn't significant??) is a feat unto itself. Hell, losing a quarter of a ton is a significant achievement all by itself. When the Jaguar XJ went to 'loomnum-intensive construction a decade(-ish) ago, it gained 400lbs... SoonerLS
That "last renaissance" you refer to was around the same time as the creation of PAG and we all know the disaster that turned out to be...Now that PAG is gone along with the associated marquees with it, Ford can focus on Lincoln as it always should have... From the perspective of the dealers, it could very well be "deja vu all over again." The resolution of the PAG debacle and the fact that there's a major difference now (an actual leader in the big chair in Dearborn) won't necessarily assuage those fears--after all, Mulally won't be there forever, and who knows what will happen when he steps down? It seems likely that Fields will continue what Mulally started, but there are no guarantees... Edited April 9, 2013 by SoonerLS

At least they won't have to worry about competition from other in-house brands or those same brands siphoning off capital (including Lincoln). Ford is either all-in for Lincoln or they'll kill it. They certainly won't starve it.
jpd80
With Oakville switching to CD4 for Edge and MKX, it may be to Ford's advantage to run a CD4 Aviator (Edge with longer WB and SUV back) out of there along with a new CD4 Flex (based on Galaxie but suitably lengthened)..That would leave CAP to adopt CD4 and keep D3 as required Purely speculation on my part but no doubt the temptation to increase efficiency by reorganizing suppliers and parts is there.
